Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God
Chapter 356 - 11: Cosmic Star Body Refinement
Chapter 356: Chapter 11: Cosmic Star Body Refinement
Ash was already circulating the Seven Star Martial Cultivation Technique.
The first loops moved steadily through his meridians, carrying the minor improvements he had woven in from the Martial Saint’s insights. Heat continued to gather under his skin. Sweat still beaded along his hairline. Gray impurities continued to rise and leave faint stains on the floorboards. The Boundless Origin hummed quietly in the background, feeding ambient energy into the process.
Yet the major part of his consciousness was not focused on the circulation itself.
While his body followed the familiar path of the Seven Star method, Ash’s mind was busy taking the technique apart. ℯ
He went through everything he had brought back from the golden-string universe with careful attention. Nothing was written down. Every piece simply sat in his head, waiting for him to pick it up and turn it over like a stone: the battle instincts, the fragments of battle arts, the insights into energy circulation, the methods of tempering the body at a cellular level, the blueprint of a superior martial physique, and underneath all of it a deep, wordless sense of how cultivation techniques were built and why they worked.
He compared each piece against what he had learned at the academy and what he had read in his favorite novels. For a long stretch of time the dorm room remained silent except for his steady breathing and the soft sound of sweat dripping onto wood.
One conclusion rose above the rest.
The Seven Star Martial Cultivation Technique was a good technique, but it had been built for an ordinary body and it was also built to work on ayone who cultivated it. Its energy ran along a single long path. Its refinement worked on one part of the body at a time—skin and flesh first, then onward—each stage waiting politely for the one before it to finish. It was safe. It was steady. And it was wasteful.
The Martial Saint’s insights showed him something the manual never mentioned: a body was not a ladder. It was a system. Every part leaned on every other part. Refining one layer while the rest lagged behind meant spending the same energy twice and creating new imbalances that would later need to be fixed.
So Ash began to take the Seven Star apart.
It felt almost rude, like correcting someone else’s homework. The original author had been a Martial Sovereign. A person like that would surely understand a student who wanted to improve things. In his mindscape he laid the seven sections out like beads on a string and began cutting and reconnecting them.
The Saint’s comprehension talent carried him through problems that should have taken a team of researchers years. A knot in the circulation that would have cost him a week of frustration came undone in the time it took to take three breaths. Whenever a path failed, he could see exactly why, and the fix was already waiting a step ahead of him.
He did not only change the route of the energy. Piece by piece, he built an entirely new technique.
There were nine energy circulation paths now—one for each major part of the body—joined to each other in a closed loop so that whatever one pass left behind became fuel for the next. There was the profound refinement method, the true heart of the technique, borrowed from the Martial Saint’s cellular tempering and rebuilt around the unique nature of his own Boundless Origin. There was the visual manifestation method, a way of projecting the technique’s structure outside his body as an array of light so the energy had a physical anchor and he could watch it work with his own eyes. There was an impurity discharge route, a set of regulating valves to keep his body from rupturing under the sudden load, a precise breathing rhythm to bind everything together, and a hidden framework at the end of each section that could be extended later when he reached higher realms.
He tested each part in his mind a dozen times before moving on to the next.
When he finally leaned back inside his mindscape and looked at the finished structure, he let out a long, quiet breath.
9-Cosmic Star Body Refinement Technique.
He had renamed it twice before settling on that. It sounded like the title of an episode, which seemed appropriate.
It was a masterpiece. In his own opinion, anyway, and he was aware his opinion was the only one that existed so far. But he was proud of it. Until yesterday his greatest creative achievement had been a fan theory about episode thirty-one that had collected four likes. This was something he had built from nothing with his own hands, and nobody had handed it to him.
Ash immediately switched techniques.
He did not stop the circulation. He simply redirected it. The familiar path of the Seven Star method dissolved. In its place, the new nine-path structure locked into position with a clean, decisive click that he felt more than heard.
The moment the first full loop of the 9-Cosmic Star Body Refinement Technique closed, the air around him changed.
There was no wind blowing in the sealed room, but something gathered in the space around his body, as if the dorm itself had drawn a breath and held it. Faint lines of light traced themselves across the floorboards and walls, then rose into the air and unfolded into a shape that no academy manual had ever described.
A star-shaped diagram appeared, drawn on the air itself, with nine clear points. Smaller stars were drawn inside each point, and smaller still inside those, so that the whole structure repeated itself like a fractal the deeper he looked. Ash sat at the exact center of the diagram.
At each of the nine points hung a black hole.
They were flat, as if someone had cut nine circular holes out of the air itself. Each was a disc of absolute black, ringed by a thin bright halo of bent light, with no visible depth at all. From the center of each disc, the singularity was stretched out into a fine, needle-thin line that pointed straight at him, like nine compass needles all agreeing on the same north.
Then they began to turn.
The rotation started slowly and quickly became too fast to follow with the naked eye. The halos blurred into rings of white fire. A low note filled the room—too deep to be called a sound—and the cosmic energy in the walls, the floor, and the air began to lean toward the discs. It poured into the black holes in nine spiraling streams, vanished at their edges, and came out again through the singularities as fine, dense threads, one for each hole. Each thread of energy ran down the needle and into Ash.
The nine holes were not random.
Each one was bound to one part of his body—the nine parts of Body Refining. The first three held the skin, the flesh, and the blood. The next three held the muscles, the tendons, and the bones (marrow included). The last three held the organs: the heart and lungs; the liver, kidneys, and digestive organs; and the brain along with the spinal cord, which he had decided to count as the crown of the internal organs.
Every part was being refined at the same moment.
The original Seven Star technique would have refined them one after another in careful sequence. The 9-Cosmic Star Body Refinement Technique refined them all at once, and not in an ordinary way.
Each thread that ran down a singularity into his body had been through something no normal cultivator’s energy ever experienced. Falling into the black hole crushed it. The qi in the stream was compressed past anything a mortal meridian could normally hold, until it came out the far side as a single dense strand of what felt like the heart of a star.
Ash’s body should have burst under that density.
The Boundless Origin, which had no saturation point, did not even notice the weight. It simply took each strand and poured it onward into the corresponding part of his body.
Heat exploded under his skin—not the gentle forging warmth of before, but a deep, rolling pressure that reached every layer at once. His skin tightened. His flesh densified. His blood seemed to thicken and purify in the same breath. Deeper inside, his muscles began to realign fiber by fiber. Tendons adjusted their tension. Bones hummed with a low vibration as microscopic structures shifted toward the Martial Saint’s blueprint. His organs pulsed under the sudden influx, each one being tempered from the inside out. Even his brain and spinal cord received a fine, careful stream of the compressed energy.
Sweat poured from him in sheets. The gray impurities no longer rose slowly. They were forced out in visible waves, staining his clothes and the floor around him in expanding circles of dull ash.
Ash kept his breathing steady according to the new rhythm he had designed. The regulating valves he had built into the technique held firm. The impurity discharge routes stayed clear. The closed loop of the nine paths continued to feed residual energy from one section into the next, ensuring almost nothing was wasted.
Inside his mindscape, the star diagram continued to spin. The nine black holes drank ambient energy without pause. The Boundless Origin accepted every compressed strand and distributed it with perfect efficiency.
Time lost meaning.
Ash did not count the cycles. He only felt the changes accumulating—layer by layer, cell by cell—as the new technique rewrote his foundation from nine directions at once.
The rebuild had entered a completely different stage.
Outside, the academy morning continued as if nothing unusual was happening. Instructors still called out corrections. Students still practiced basic forms. High-rank geniuses still received special attention in the eastern courtyards. None of them looked toward the western dormitories.
Inside one quiet room, an E-Rank student sat at the center of a spinning nine-pointed star of light and black holes, sweat and gray ash pooling around him, while a technique that had never existed before in this world quietly began to reshape his body at a fundamental level.
