Chapter 621: Chuu Qi's Alchemy Dao
Chapter 621: Chapter 630: Chuu Qi’s Alchemy Dao
Wen Qingye slowly walked to the center of the square, cupped his fists, and said, “I am the disciple Wen Qingye. I wish to refine a pill on behalf of Senior Chuu Guang.”
Hearing Wen Qingye state his name, the man in black froze for a moment. ‘Wen Qingye? So this kid is the Wen Qingye who’s been the talk of the Celestial Profound Sect lately.’
Chuu Qi nodded. “Very well. But if I’m not satisfied, Chuu Guang can forget about ever returning to Danxuan Peak.”
All eyes immediately fell upon Wen Qingye. Chuu Qi’s words were clearly meant to make things difficult for Chuu Guang. If Wen Qingye agreed, especially after Chuu Qi’s own failed refinement earlier today, a showdown between the two would be inevitable—which was exactly what the crowd was hoping for.
As everyone expected, Wen Qingye accepted the challenge directly. “Fine. Everything will be as Senior Chuu Qi wishes. Today, I’d like to see your Alchemy Dao for myself.”
ROAR!
The crowd erupted, everyone instinctively straightening their backs and staring ahead, not wanting to blink and miss a thing.
In truth, none of them had much faith in Wen Qingye, but that didn’t diminish their excitement. Perhaps, deep down, they were even hoping to see him suffer a humiliating defeat.
After all, that name had simply become too dazzling as of late.
In the distance, Zhang Zhilin and Ji Hai stood together, conversing in low voices.
Ji Hai gently stroked his white beard and asked, “Zhilin, what do you think of this disciple of yours?”
Zhang Zhilin smiled. “I have faith in him.”
“Be my guest,” Chuu Qi said slowly, gesturing with an outstretched hand.
THUD!
Wen Qingye wasted no time on pleasantries. With a casual wave of his hand, an enormous black Pill Furnace materialized in mid-air. He struck it, sending it arcing across the square to land with perfect precision, creating a mirror image of Chuu Qi’s setup.
“Isn’t that Senior Miaoxuan’s old Pill Furnace?”
Many in the crowd recognized the Pill Furnace Wen Qingye had produced, and they began to cry out in surprise.
Seeing this, Miaoxuan smiled faintly. “In that case, allow me to serve as an impartial judge for you two.”
Given Miaoxuan’s Alchemy Cultivation, character, and status, he was indeed the most qualified person present to take on this role.
Chuu Qi glanced at Miaoxuan and nodded. Naturally, Wen Qingye had no reason to refuse either.
Innumerable gazes converged, fixated on the two competitors.
Miaoxuan called out, “You have a time limit of three double-hours! Very well. Begin!”
The moment Miaoxuan finished speaking, Chuu Qi thrust his palm forward. A torrent of raging flame, like a fiery dragon, shot from his arm and engulfed the space beneath his Pill Furnace.
‘What powerful flames,’ Miaoxuan thought, startled by the sight. ‘It seems Brother Chuu is innately far superior to me when it comes to fire control.’
Many of the onlookers who understood the Alchemy Dao gasped, their eyes wide with shock as they stared at the crimson flames.
SIZZLE! SIZZLE!
Wen Qingye gave a calm smile as Spiritual Fire erupted from his own palm.
Although his flames weren’t as vigorous as Chuu Qi’s, they were exceptionally pure. However, Chuu Qi had stolen the show with his initial display, and most of the crowd’s attention was fixed on him, with few sparing a glance for Wen Qingye.
Chuu Qi had already laid out the medicinal ingredients for the Primordial Pill beside him.
The raging inferno relentlessly scorched the Pill Furnace, heating it until it glowed a deep crimson. The very air around it seemed to shimmer and distort.
Only then did Chuu Qi begin to take the ingredients at his side and place them inside, one by one.
His masterful technique and precise timing left the onlookers dazzled and full of astonishment.
“Is that… the Celestial Profound Seven Hands of our Celestial Profound Sect? I thought no one had been able to master that technique for over a century! The Peak Master actually did it?”
“And the order he’s adding the ingredients… it looks like it’s for the… Primordial Pill?”
“The Primordial Pill!?”
Although everyone knew it was crucial not to disturb an alchemist at work, the name “Primordial Pill” still sent a ripple of commotion through the crowd.
Jin the Third ignored the surrounding chatter, pursing his lips. “I don’t care if the kid wins or not. As long as he refines my Soul-Devouring Pill, that’s all that matters.”
“That kid, refine a Soul-Devouring Pill for you? You must be dreaming,” the nearby Yue Mingzhu couldn’t help but sneer, shooting Jin the Third a sideways glance.
Jin the Third frowned at her words. “And why’s that?”
A smirk played on Yue Mingzhu’s lips. “Do you have any idea what grade of pill the Soul-Devouring Pill is?”
Jin the Third froze, then subconsciously asked, “What grade is it?”
Yue Mingzhu enunciated each word clearly, “A Spirit Grade Intermediate Pill!”
“What!?” Jin the Third blurted out. “Are you serious, girlie?”
Yue Mingzhu replied, “Of course I’m serious. The Soul-Devouring Pill is one of the most difficult Spirit Grade Intermediate Pills to refine. Not only that, but I hear the Pill Formula for it was lost centuries ago.”
Jin the Third sucked in a sharp breath, his eyes immediately darting back to Wen Qingye in the center of the square.
Nearby, Chuu Guang’s expression was also incredibly tense. Seeing Chuu Qi’s practiced movements as he added the ingredients, he knew exactly which pill his rival was attempting to refine.
Meanwhile, Wen Qingye continued to place his ingredients at a slow and steady pace. In contrast, Chuu Qi was moving with incredible speed. His technique and timing seemed infinitely more refined than Wen Qingye’s, who appeared almost amateurish and nonchalant by comparison.
“See? I knew Wen Qingye wasn’t all that.”
“Standing next to Peak Master Chuu Qi, the difference in their skill is obvious.”
“True skill in the Alchemy Dao speaks for itself. Wen Qingye is still far too inexperienced.”
…
The crowd freely voiced their disappointment, shaking their heads as they watched Wen Qingye.
Chuu Qi thrust his palm forward, and a boundless wave of Primordial Qi surged forth, pouring directly into the flames.
‘It all comes down to this!’
Chuu Qi gritted his teeth. He was taking a huge risk attempting to refine the Primordial Pill, as his success rate was a mere thirty percent.
He couldn’t afford for that slim chance of failure to become a reality.
The flames pulsed in waves, surging into the Pill Furnace to condense the countless essences within. Meanwhile, Chuu Qi expertly controlled the Medicinal Essences, forcing them to fuse together.
“Three Lotus Flowers!”
“Celestial Dragon Grass!”
“Purple Gold Acacia Bean!”
…
One by one, Chuu Qi added the Heavenly and Earthly Treasures from his collection into the furnace.
Time trickled by, but Wen Qingye continued his work at the same unhurried pace.
In contrast, Chuu Qi was now soaked in sweat, his expression a mask of extreme tension.
Nearly everyone could tell that Chuu Qi’s refinement of the Primordial Pill had reached its most critical juncture. Every spectator’s heart was in their throat.
Yum Tianyang’s gaze burned with intensity as he stared at the Pill Furnace. “If Brother Chuu succeeds in refining the Primordial Pill,” he said, “I’ll have to ask for a few.”
