Chapter 620: Chapter 629: Mysterious Person in Black

Huangfu Yiye boomed with laughter. “Hahahaha! Those people are just a branch of the Ancient Spirit Clan. My Taiyi Pavilion drove them out of the Eastern Profound Domain once before, and now, after some time to lick their wounds, they’re merely trying to make a comeback. As for the Daoist School of Non-action you mentioned—do I look like I care about them? If the Celestial Profound Sect wasn’t acting as a shield, I’d have wiped them out seven times over!”

His laughter was filled with supreme confidence, perfectly showcasing the aura of the Taiyi Pavilion’s Pavilion Master—a man who could reshape the world with a flip of his hand.

Huangfu Yiye then snorted coldly. “So what if that Wild Dog Daoist from the Daoist School of Non-action is still alive? Let alone the masters of my Taiyi Pavilion, I, Huangfu Yiye, am more than his match.”

Hearing Huangfu Yiye’s words, Shen Junru couldn’t help but ask in astonishment, “Senior Brother, your cultivation…”

Huangfu Yiye met Shen Junru’s gaze. “Junior Sister, let me tell you—everything is under my control. Do you believe that? And that includes the Celestial Profound Sect.”

‘All this time, Huangfu Yiye hasn’t been considered a particularly proactive Pavilion Master. He’s always been diligent, amicable, and extremely conservative. If he weren’t, he would never have allowed the Taiyi Pavilion’s Three Elders to rise, especially not those two uncontrollable men, Gu Yifeng and Weil Tianya.’

‘Meanwhile, the Celestial Profound Sect had only grown stronger, to the point where it was subtly beginning to threaten the Taiyi Pavilion’s position.’

But now, looking at Huangfu Yiye’s imperious aura and his imposing figure, Shen Junru realized for the first time that she couldn’t see through her senior brother at all. She couldn’t see through this man she’d always looked up to.

Huangfu Yiye slowly rose to his feet. With steady, powerful steps, he walked into the distance and vanished into the vast, hazy expanse.

A hint of exhaustion crept into Shen Junru’s eyes. Gazing at the sea of clouds before her with a touch of sorrow, she murmured, “Huangfu Tianyuan, it’s been twenty years. You’ve been gone for more than twenty years. I’ve watched over this Taiyi Pavilion for you, and I’m so tired. I don’t know how much longer I can hold on.”

Huangfu Tianyuan was Huangfu Yiye’s own younger brother and Shen Junru’s Daoist companion. He was once one of Taiyi Pavilion’s greatest prodigies, his talent rivaling that of Huangfu Yiye himself. But twenty years ago, he had vanished without a trace, and his whereabouts remained unknown to this day.

…

「Celestial Profound Sect, Danxuan Peak.」

A new day had arrived.

The spring breeze was warm, and soft sunlight bathed the land.

Pink blossoms began to bloom on the green mountains, and disciples from the Celestial Profound Sect’s Seven Peaks swarmed to the area. For them, today was no ordinary day.

Today was not only the day of the Scattered Pill for Chuu Qi, the Peak Master of Danxuan Peak; it was also the day Wen Qingye would make good on his offer to Chuu Qi to handle the Alchemy in place of Chuu Guang.

Wen Qingye. That name had left them with too many surprises, too many unbelievable feats, too much to be incredulous about. Had any other disciple made such a boast, the crowd would have simply sneered. But this was Wen Qingye.

It wasn’t just ordinary disciples; many True Disciples had come as well. Du Qianqian, Wang Hao, Lu Wushuang, Chu Bufan, and Mingkong were all gathered on Danxuan Peak, standing to one side of the grand plaza.

Mingkong shook his head. “Wen Qingye really is arrogant. How long has it been, and he’s already challenging the older generation?”

Du Qianqian mulled it over for a moment before saying, “Perhaps he has a trump card up his sleeve.”

Mingkong sneered. “A trump card? Fine. I’d like to see what kind of trump card he could possibly have. With a temperament like his? And he still managed to become a True Disciple? Hmph.”

Mingkong’s words were laced with deep resentment. Ever since Wen Qingye had shown up, both Yum Baobao and Mo Qing had grown increasingly distant from him. How could he not hate Wen Qingye for it?

At their side, Lu Wushuang and Chu Bufan remained silent, quietly watching the swelling crowd ahead. Only Wang Hao stood with his eyes shut, seemingly in meditation.

By now, countless disciples of the Celestial Profound Sect had converged on Danxuan Peak. They were packed together in a dense crowd, a gathering so large it was nearly one of the biggest in the sect’s history.

Many of Danxuan Peak’s Elders had also arrived. They stood off to one side of the plaza, their eyes fixed on its center.

In the center of the plaza, Chuu Qi was arranging the medicinal ingredients beside him. To his left, a man in black robes stood with his lips moving incessantly, as if speaking to Chuu Qi, but Chuu Qi remained completely unfazed, his attention fixed on the herbs in his hands.

The black-robed man asked in a leisurely tone, “Chuu Qi, I’m offering you a chance. Are you truly going to refuse it?”

“Not interested,” Chuu Qi said without looking up, his gaze still on the herbs in his hand.

The man’s voice rose slightly. “Not interested?”

Chuu Qi acted as if he hadn’t heard the man, his eyes still examining the herb in his hand. He then lowered his head and muttered to himself, ‘That kid, Xi Yuheng… I told him the Lotus Grass Leaf needs to be dried to a seven-tenths level. Sigh. Good thing I prepared another batch of herbs myself.’

As he spoke, Chuu Qi retrieved a leaf from his Sumeru Mustard Seed and placed it beside the others on the table.

The black-robed man pressed on relentlessly. “Let me tell you, the Celestial Profound Sect may seem powerful, but it’s merely a hollow shell. What’s more, you have tigers and leopards prowling on the outside…”

Before the man could finish, Chuu Qi cut him off impatiently. “That’s enough. You should go. Don’t disrupt my focus. I have important matters to attend to shortly.”

The black-robed man frowned. “You’re just putting an arrogant disciple from your sect in his place. Is there a need to be so serious? Others might not be aware of your skills in the Alchemy Dao, but I know them perfectly well.”

Chuu Qi said nothing, simply fixing his gaze on the black-robed man.

“Fine, fine, I’ll leave,” the black-robed man said hastily. He walked down and off to one side of the plaza, where he sneered inwardly. ‘Chuu Qi, the only reason I’m interested in you is that you’re the best in the Alchemy Dao in the entire Celestial Profound Sect. How dare you put on airs in front of me?’

Time ticked by, and the crowd grew a little impatient.

Mo Qing looked out at the sea of people and frowned. “Where is Brother Wen? And that little rascal Baobao, why isn’t she here either?”

Just then, five figures began to ascend the mountain path.

Leading the group was none other than Wen Qingye. To his left were an excited Yum Baobao and a visibly nervous Chuu Guang. To his right was a golden-haired man, and beside him, a woman in a mask.

“Jin the Third?” The black-robed man’s brow furrowed slightly upon seeing the golden-haired man. He was startled. ‘That woman… she seems familiar too. Who is she? To think the Celestial Profound Sect was hiding so many masters.’

Then, the black-robed man’s gaze fell upon Chuu Guang, and his eyes suddenly lit up.

Hiding in the crowd, Yann Xiangyang watched Wen Qingye’s approach and said, “No matter where he is, he’s destined to be the one who shines the brightest.”

Beside him, Yann Chuxue, dressed as always in robes whiter than snow, sighed in admiration. “Yes. That’s just the kind of person he is.”

Yann Xiangyang suddenly turned back to her and said with a grin, “Sis, do you think he can shine even brighter than you?”

Yann Chuxue covered her mouth with her hand and chuckled softly. “Everyone has their moment to shine. His… is unstoppable.”

That one smile was enough to captivate the world, like a hundred flowers blooming in unison, like the melting of winter snow.
