Chapter 615: Chapter 624: The 4 People of the Celestial Profound Sect

Wen Qingye first brought Yue Mingzhu back to his own Cave Mansion without a sound. After all, Yue Mingzhu’s current identity had to be kept secret.

He then instructed Yue Mingzhu not to wander around Life Peak before heading toward Zhang Zhilin’s Cave Mansion.

Wen Qingye had learned the specific details about the Immortal Ascension List from Yue Mingzhu.

With the release of the Immortal Ascension List, the names of some of the top experts of the past appeared one after another, but none were in the top thirty. The entire Eastern Profound Domain was in an uproar. The Celestial Profound Sect finally revealed its profound strength; among the Peak Masters of the Seven Peaks and the Sect Leader, four individuals were unlisted.

There were two reasons for being unlisted: one was that a person was too weak to even qualify for the Immortal Ascension List, and the other was that they were too strong, already ranked among the top thirty.

Needless to say, what kind of people were those four from the Celestial Profound Sect? How could they possibly fail to make the list? It was certainly not because they were too weak, but because they were so strong that their names were not recorded.

All four of them were in the top thirty of the Immortal Ascension List!

These four from the Celestial Profound Sect were the Peak Master of Chaotian Peak, Tangg Guanzhong; the Peak Master of Forget-Life Peak, Yum Tianyang; and the Sect Leader of the Celestial Profound Sect, Bai Henshui. If the appearance of the Celestial Profound Dual Pride had made the entire Eastern Profound Domain tremble, and the Sect Leader’s inclusion was unquestionable to all, then the final person’s name came as a great shock to the people of the Domain.

For this person was none other than the Peak Master of Life Peak, Zhang Zhilin.

The Playful Monk, with his cultivation at the Life and Death Realm Eighth Layer Heaven, was ranked outside the top thirty. One could only imagine, then, that the cultivation of Yum Tianyang and Tangg Guanzhong would be at least on par with his, if not greater.

During the battle outside the Imperial City of the Celestial Martial Country, it turned out Tangg Guanzhong had been holding back his true power all along. He had been the most formidable person present, capable of overturning the entire battle with a mere wave of his hand. It seemed everything had been within his control from the very beginning.

Tangg Guanzhong’s composure and calm; Yum Tianyang’s uninhibited and magnanimous nature. They were truly worthy of being the pillars of the Celestial Profound Sect’s most outstanding generation. Perhaps their brilliance was so dazzling that it made people forget about the Sect Leader, Bai Henshui, who had been painstakingly biding his time, and the extremely reserved Zhang Zhilin.

Only then did everyone remember that these four were from the same era—the most brilliant generation the Celestial Profound Sect had ever seen.

At this point, the people of the Eastern Profound Domain slowly realized that the Celestial Profound Sect’s position as the second-greatest Sect in the Domain was well and truly deserved.

In contrast, Taiyi Pavilion was also teeming with talent. The three elders of Taiyi Pavilion and Sect Leader Huangfu Yiye were all unlisted, which clearly meant they were all ranked among the top thirty.

For a time, it was clear that some reclusive masters from other Sects also belonged on that unlisted roster. However, even after careful consideration, there were still dozens of slots unaccounted for. Their names were unknown, and no one had a clue who these mysterious figures were.

Who on earth were they?

For a while, the entire Eastern Profound Domain was abuzz with speculation about their identities, but no one could figure it out. Some even went to the Ninth Trading House to inquire, but to no avail.

These people lay dormant mysteriously within the Eastern Profound Domain. They might be in the deep mountains and ancient forests, or perhaps hidden within the various Sects. They could be newly risen figures, or they could be the reclusive old monsters from the different Sects.

When Wen Qingye arrived at Zhang Zhilin’s Cave Mansion, Zhang Zhilin was already standing at the entrance, as if he had been waiting for quite some time.

When Zhang Zhilin saw Wen Qingye, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes. After staring for a moment, he shook his head and chuckled. “You brat, still keeping secrets from me.”

Wen Qingye just smiled, feigning ignorance. A moment ago, Zhang Zhilin had tried to peer through his physical body to see his meridians clearly, but was instantly blocked by a five-colored light emanating from Wen Qingye’s surface.

Zhang Zhilin waved his hand dismissively and laughed. “Forget it. This old man is getting old; I won’t bother probing you anymore. In any case, your current strength is enough to put my mind at ease.”

Wen Qingye’s expression turned serious. He stepped forward, cupped his fists, and said, “Master, you’re ranked among the top thirty on the Immortal Ascension List. How could you be old?”

Although Zhang Zhilin and Wen Qingye’s master-disciple relationship was in name only, the fact that Zhang Zhilin had so decisively taken him as a disciple showed a level of regard that was enough to earn Wen Qingye’s respect.

Zhang Zhilin nodded and said, “You must already know about the Immortal Ascension List. Let’s go inside to talk.”

With that, the two entered Zhang Zhilin’s Cave Mansion.

As soon as they sat down, Zhang Zhilin said impatiently, “This Ninth Trading House is simply too mysterious. To be able to gauge the strength of so many experts… in my opinion, their ambitions are anything but small. What worries me most is the safety of your senior brother. He’s still an Inspection Disciple for the Great Zhou Imperial Dynasty, and I fear his strength isn’t enough to handle what’s coming.”

Wen Qingye nodded, his brow heavy with concern. The Ninth Trading House was indeed incredibly mysterious, especially since its name was identical to that of the Ninth Pawnshop in the Immortal Realm. ‘Is it a coincidence, or is someone pulling the strings from behind the scenes?’ He wasn’t sure.

Wen Qingye thought for a moment before saying, “This faction seems to have numerous branches. I’ve heard of this Ninth Pawnshop; they are not to be underestimated either.”

“I’ve heard of this Ninth Pawnshop as well. It’s not just me; rumors about it are spreading like wildfire in the shadows. Their rules for trade are said to be extremely sinister. Many have made deals at the Ninth Pawnshop, only to end up mortgaging their own lives and dying tragically. But…” At this, Zhang Zhilin took a deep breath, his voice trailing off.

Wen Qingye smiled faintly. “But that still doesn’t stop the relentless tide of people flocking to it. The Ninth Pawnshop’s business is only getting bigger.”

Zhang Zhilin glanced at Wen Qingye, then nodded gravely. “Yes, you’re right. I’m just afraid your prominence will attract unwanted attention, inviting unnecessary trouble. Not just from outside the Sect, but from within as well…”

“Oh?” Wen Qingye’s brow furrowed at Zhang Zhilin’s words. He could tell there was a hidden meaning in what he said.

Zhang Zhilin took a deep breath and said slowly, “Junior Brother Tangg and I have been observing in private. There is another agent from Taiyi Pavilion planted within our ranks. This person’s status is even greater than Situ Yun’s, making them extremely dangerous.”

Wen Qingye asked, “Are there any clues?”

Zhang Zhilin said slowly, “None. Within this Sect, the relationships between the Seven Peaks are complex and intertwined. Who can really trust whom? Ten years ago, Junior Brother Tangg and I both felt Senior Brother Hua Lie was untrustworthy, but we never expected the traitor to be Situ Yun. Now, Brother Tangg and I don’t dare make baseless accusations. For all we know, it could be Yum Tianyang, Brother Qii, or even one of the old martial uncles on Life Peak. If we start down that path, we’ll only end up making everyone paranoid and suspicious, and that would be a disaster.”
