Chapter 614: Chapter 623: The Future of the Sword Sect
Yue Mingzhu seemed to sense someone’s arrival. She struggled to lift her eyelids and looked at Wen Qingye. A glint of light appeared in her eyes as her voice, faint as a silken thread, came out, “Save my life, and I’ll give you a bottle of Low-Level Spirit Grade pills.”
Even in such a state, Yue Mingzhu was unwilling to cry out for Wen Qingye’s help. Instead, she was making a deal.
At that moment, although Yue Mingzhu was disheveled, with blood and sand obscuring her delicate features, one could still vaguely make out her stunning beauty.
Wen Qingye couldn’t help but chuckle. “Is your life only worth the price of a bottle of Mid-Level Spirit Grade pills, Sword Fairy?”
Hearing Wen Qingye’s words, Yue Mingzhu frowned slightly. “You can take anything from my Sumeru Mustard Seed.”
“Oh?” Wen Qingye crouched down and slowly brushed the strands of hair from Yue Mingzhu’s forehead, smiling. “If I were to kill you, wouldn’t I get your Sumeru Mustard Seed all the same? What do you say, beauty?”
Yue Mingzhu turned her head away, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. “In your dreams. Believe it or not, I can self-destruct my Primordial Spirit and leave you with nothing.”
From the subtle clues, Wen Qingye could tell that Yue Mingzhu had a fiercely unyielding personality. If he pushed her any further, she might actually choose mutual destruction.
‘Saving her still has its uses.’
Wen Qingye nodded. “Alright, I’ll save your life.”
Although Yue Mingzhu heard his words, her expression didn’t relax in the slightest.
Wen Qingye pushed out with his palm, and a dense wave of Primordial Qi, like cascading moonlight, enveloped Yue Mingzhu’s body.
“Mmm…”
Yue Mingzhu felt a searing heat wash over her body, and she couldn’t help but let out a sound like a cat in heat.
“Be quiet,” Wen Qingye said nonchalantly, the Primordial Qi from his hand growing even more potent.
Hearing Wen Qingye’s words, Yue Mingzhu’s face flushed beet red, as if blood were about to drip from it. She clenched her jaw and didn’t make another peep.
The time it takes for an incense stick to burn passed slowly.
Beads of sweat slowly formed on Wen Qingye’s forehead before he gradually withdrew his power.
Yue Mingzhu now felt a warm sensation throughout her body and was much more comfortable. She immediately looked at Wen Qingye, her expression softening. “Thank you for your generous help. Might I ask for your name, young hero?”
Wen Qingye regulated his breathing to restore his Primordial Qi and said flatly, “Wen Qingye!”
“Wen Qingye.” Yue Mingzhu’s pretty face froze upon hearing the name. Her jaw dropped as she stared in astonishment at the handsome young man before her. “You’re *the* Wen Qingye from the Celestial Profound Sect?”
Wen Qingye spread his hands. “The one and only!”
Yue Mingzhu studied Wen Qingye closely, her eyes narrowing slightly. “Since it’s you, I can rest easy.”
“Rest easy?” Wen Qingye gave a noncommittal smile.
Yue Mingzhu said earnestly, “I imagine someone whose Swordsmanship has reached such a pinnacle must also have an upright character. I trust your integrity.”
Wen Qingye smiled faintly. “Alright. Whether you trust me or not, you still have to hand over your Sumeru Mustard Seed.”
“Here.” Yue Mingzhu handed her Sumeru Mustard Seed to Wen Qingye without hesitation. “I’ve given you all my Primordial Stones, Magical Artifacts, Heavenly and Earthly Treasures, and pills. You won’t just abandon me here, will you?”
Wen Qingye took Yue Mingzhu’s Sumeru Mustard Seed, shrugged, and said casually, “Sure. I can take you to my Celestial Profound Sect and have the Sword Sect people come pick you up.”
Upon hearing his words, Yue Mingzhu shuddered. Her gaze became somewhat evasive, and she didn’t reply, her mind racing.
Wen Qingye said, “Alright, in that case, I’ll take you back to my Celestial Profound Sect first, and we’ll figure it out from there.”
In any case, Yue Mingzhu held some prestige in the Sword Sect. Saving her now had countless benefits and no drawbacks. Wen Qingye wasn’t stupid enough to let her die alone in the Desert North.
With that, Wen Qingye pulled Yue Mingzhu up, hoisted her onto his back, and started walking in the direction of Sanjing Pass.
……
The Desert North wasn’t actually that far from the Celestial Profound Sect. With Wen Qingye’s speed, traveling a thousand li a day, it took less than five days for him to bring Yue Mingzhu to the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain.
For the past five days, Yue Mingzhu had remained silent and withdrawn. Her injuries were quite severe. Even though Wen Qingye had given her an Emperor-grade High-level Healing Elixir to take and used his own Primordial Qi to help her heal, she was only capable of simple walking.
At one point, she tried to jump off Wen Qingye’s back, wanting to walk to the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain on her own, but he simply hoisted her back up and charged onward.
Naturally, she didn’t want to go to the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain. She was afraid that as soon as they arrived, Wen Qingye would send her back to the Sword Sect.
Yue Mingzhu gazed at the majestic, continuous mountain range looming ahead. She stole a glance to the side, a peculiar emotion stirring in her heart.
Yue Mingzhu said slowly, “Alright, since we’ve reached the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain, let’s part ways here.”
Wen Qingye feigned confusion. “What’s wrong? Didn’t we agree that you’d be a guest at my Celestial Profound Sect and wait for your Sword Sect to arrive? Why are you leaving now that we’re at my sect’s doorstep?”
Hearing his question, a troubled smile appeared on Yue Mingzhu’s lips as she refused, “No, it’s fine. I can get back to the Sword Sect on my own. I don’t want to trouble the Celestial Profound Sect.”
Wen Qingye looked at her condition and said, “That doesn’t seem like a good idea. You’re severely injured…”
Yue Mingzhu shook her head stubbornly. “It’s fine. These are just minor injuries.”
“It looks…”
“I said they’re minor injuries!”
Yue Mingzhu suddenly roared, glaring daggers at Wen Qingye.
Wen Qingye shook his head and chuckled in spite of himself. “Those don’t look like minor injuries. I saw Jian Nantian strike you with thirty-two sword attacks, seventeen of which hit your vital points. It’s a miracle you’re not dead. Don’t try to act tough.”
“It’s fine… You, how do you know that?” Yue Mingzhu snapped her head up, her eyes, like a pair of Black Pearls, fixed on Wen Qingye.
Wen Qingye said, “I saw everything.”
Yue Mingzhu’s expression darkened abruptly. She murmured, “So you knew all along.”
Wen Qingye nodded. “Yes, I know everything. So you should have nowhere to go now, right? Why don’t you stay at my Celestial Profound Sect for the time being?”
Yue Mingzhu’s face turned cold. “What, you want to use me against the Sword Sect? Don’t even dream of it. If you try, I’ll self-destruct my Primordial Spirit immediately.”
“HAHAHAHA!” Wen Qingye threw his head back and laughed. “I’m keeping you here simply to preserve a seed for your Sword Sect. If the Sword Sect is destroyed one day, you’ll still be around to rebuild it. Do you really think, with your current situation, you can make any waves in the Sword Sect? News of your death will probably spread throughout the entire Eastern Profound Domain by tomorrow.”
Yue Mingzhu’s expression changed drastically at his words. Her gaze flickered over Wen Qingye like a dragonfly skimming the water. “You’re certainly confident. And why, pray tell, is my Sword Sect on the verge of destruction? I’d love to hear your reasoning.”
“Because of Jian Nantian’s ambition.”
Wen Qingye’s smile faded slightly. He started walking forward, his voice drifting back to her, “For now, you’ll be my personal attendant. It’s a cover for you to stay here on my Life Peak. As for the future, we’ll talk about it later.”
‘Just who is this Wen Qingye? How did the Celestial Profound Sect produce such a character? In his presence, I actually feel immense pressure. How strange. I’d like to see for myself just how dazzling a prodigy who surpasses even XiaoMo Swordsmanship can be.’
Then, Yue Mingzhu quickened her pace and caught up to Wen Qingye.
