Chapter 612 - 621: Azure Dragon Break Extreme Dao

It was Sima Feng and Tu Bai.

"Hahaha, I knew it was you from a mile away!" Sima Feng boomed, landing beside Wen Qingye.

The moment Tu Bai landed, he shot Wen Qingye a thumbs-up. "Wen Qingye, you’ve got real guts! Killing Wang Zhen from Nebula Hall... I’m impressed!"

Jun Buwu’s jaw dropped. "What? Brother Wen killed Wang Zhen?"

’How could he not know who Wang Zhen was? A supreme expert at the Fourth Heaven of the Life and Death Realm, a name far more renowned than Lim Tian’s... and Wen Qingye had killed him?’

Wen Qingye just smiled noncommittally. A flicker of confusion crossed his eyes. "How did the two of you end up together?"

"Ask him!"

Sima Feng shrugged and pointed at Tu Bai.

Tu Bai grinned. "This libertine here found the Great Power’s inheritance on the Ancient Corpse and tried to slip away with it, but I caught him in the act. He couldn’t beat me, and I didn’t press the issue. So, we came to an agreement: the inheritance now belongs to both of us. Since neither of us belongs to a sect or school, it’s a perfect fit."

"Oh?" Hearing this, Wen Qingye turned to look at Sima Feng.

Sima Feng said slowly, "I never planned to keep this inheritance for myself. You know my personality; I’m used to a carefree and untethered life. I don’t get hung up on fame or fortune. If you want a part of it, that’s fine too."

Jun Buwu was astonished. ’Sima Feng’s luck is incredible! He actually obtained the inheritance. Was the treasure from the Immortal Coffin Sect what he found? But I never imagined Sima Feng would be so generous, willing to share even an entire inheritance.’

Wen Qingye shook his head. "No, thank you. The Celestial Profound Sect has its own orthodox Dao."

"This one is special. Are you sure you don’t want to at least hear what it is?" Sima Feng said with a slight smile.

"What orthodox Dao is it?" Wen Qingye asked.

"The Azure Dragon Break Extreme Dao!"

Before Sima Feng could speak, Tu Bai jumped in, "The Azure Dragon Break Extreme Dao! It’s ranked 159th among the Three Thousand Great Dao—far higher than your Celestial Profound Sect’s Dao of Profound Destruction!"

"Really?"

Jun Buwu couldn’t help but gasp. ’This inheritance is that amazing? A Great Dao ranked 159th among the Three Thousand Great Dao! To think, the Taiyi Pavilion’s Taiyi Heartless Dao isn’t even ranked in the one-hundreds! The Azure Dragon Break Extreme Dao is leagues above the orthodox Dao of our Ancient Land. No wonder everyone was rushing into that Evil Land like a bunch of lunatics.’

Wen Qingye declined again. "No. I imagine that inheritance contains much of the essence left behind by the Great Power, which will help the two of you advance your cultivation rapidly. I’d rather not take a piece of that pie."

Tu Bai pressed on, "But the Azure Dragon Break Extreme Dao is leagues better than your Celestial Profound Sect’s! The three of us can cultivate it together. What’s one more person?"

"Forget it. If Brother Wen doesn’t want it, let’s not force him." Sima Feng waved a hand dismissively. He knew that when Wen Qingye said no, he meant it. He didn’t press the matter further. Instead, he turned to Jun Buwu, his gaze flicking over him as lightly as a dragonfly on water. "The battle at Xuwang Mountain. I recognize you."

Jun Buwu nodded, his posture straightening, and chuckled. "I recognize you too, Qingshan Sima Feng."

Tu Bai rolled his eyes and laughed boisterously. "Weren’t we all at the battle of Xuwang Mountain? Enough with the formalities. Let’s find a place to sit. My ass is going to get hemorrhoids just from standing around here."

Wen Qingye and Sima Feng shared a smile and nodded in agreement.

...

「A corner of the Desert North.」

The night was free from the yellow dust that choked the day, leaving an extreme, desolate silence.

The four found a random sand dune to settle on. Tu Bai built a bonfire and flopped down without ceremony, and the other three sat down around it.

The evening breeze drifted past. It was cool, yet it stirred the heart.

"My master told me a long time ago that a tomb in the Desert North held an incredibly powerful inheritance. I never thought it was actually true," Tu Bai said, pulling several jugs of wine from his Sumeru Mustard Seed with a laugh.

"Come on, let’s drink!"

The other three each took a jug. Jun Buwu stared at the jug in his hand, looked at the others, and said, "I can’t really hold my liquor..."

Tu Bai walked right over to Jun Buwu, slung an arm around his shoulders, and roared with laughter. "So you pass out! So what? If you’re a real man, you don’t say no!"

Jun Buwu’s face flushed crimson. Goaded by Tu Bai, he raised his voice and yelled, "I may not be a big drinker, but three large jugs are nothing to me!"

Tu Bai’s eyes widened. "Three large jugs? Holy hell, I can only handle a jug and a half myself! You can drink three? All right then, I’m going to watch you drink all three jugs today."

Wen Qingye and Sima Feng just smiled at the exchange. They clinked their jugs together, tilted their heads back, and took a deep swig.

Tu Bai’s wine was incredibly potent. Not three breaths after it passed the throat, a burning heat erupted from the stomach and spread throughout the body.

Sima Feng wiped his lips. "The Heaven-Burying Sect hasn’t been fully exterminated yet. What are you going to do?"

"Then I’ll exterminate them," Wen Qingye said, taking another heavy swig from his jug. His eyes were calm and detached.

Sima Feng nodded, his brow furrowed. "The Heaven-Burying Sect’s main branch is located in the Dayan Dynasty. I suspect the Dayan Royal Family..."

Wen Qingye waved a hand dismissively and chuckled. "No need for suspicion. The Dayan Dynasty has most likely already pledged allegiance to the Taiyi Pavilion."

"As long as you know, that’s what matters," Sima Feng said. "Once I’ve completely absorbed the inheritance, given your current strength, annihilating the Heaven-Burying Sect shouldn’t be too difficult. And as for their Sect Leader... don’t worry. He won’t be showing his face in the Heaven-Burying Sect’s halls."

"Mm." Thanks to his informant, Hei Xuan, Wen Qingye had a crystal-clear understanding of the Heaven-Burying Sect’s every move.

The Heaven-Burying Sect was currently being held together solely by Luu Jing. Once Wen Qingye broke through to the Third Heaven of the Life and Death Realm, killing Luu Jing—an expert at the Fifth Heaven of the Life and Death Realm—would be a simple matter. As for the experts from the Dayan Dynasty, Wen Qingye certainly wasn’t afraid of them.

Overhearing their conversation, Tu Bai jabbed a hand forward. "You’re talking about destroying the Heaven-Burying Sect? Count me in. Since Brother Sima was willing to share the inheritance, I, Tu Bai, will remember this debt. Your business is my business now."

Sima Feng chuckled. "That means offending the Taiyi Pavilion. They might even send experts to hunt you down, you know."

Tu Bai threw an arm out, completely unfazed. "The Taiyi Pavilion? You think I’m afraid of the Taiyi Pavilion? What a joke! Back on Xuwang Mountain, I feared neither heaven nor earth! So what if they’re from the Taiyi Pavilion? Do they think they can control me?"
