Chapter 612: Letting The Cat Out Of The Bag
Chapter 612: Letting The Cat Out Of The Bag
The Bloomberg article changed a lot of things in relation to how people had once viewed Liam.
After his appearance with the A380, people had been curious about him, asking questions on how it was possible for someone so young to own something like that.
Some had investigated him but found nothing interesting. They found nothing that could explain how the aircraft was possible.
Then Nova Technologies made appearance and everyone turned their focus to it. But the article has brought back people’s attention back to Liam, and it was stronger than before.
Less than twelve hours after the article was released, people started gathering outside Bellemere Mansion. Most of them were investigative journalist, while others were just people filled with curiosity.
The amount of emails Bellemere Family Office receives in a day had more than quadrupled over the last six hours.
Some of the emails were from media houses or online publications seeking interview with Liam or even Daniel. But the rest were from individuals or organisations seeking partnership or support from Liam, and some were offering opportunities.
Daniel’s phone was blowing up with calls and messages from those that had known him from his JP Morgan days. Both former colleagues and clients he had handled.
He didn’t answer any of the calls or reply any of the messages. As for the emails, he didn’t bother to glance at them.
Liam had already informed him not to bother himself with replying any of them, so he was going to do exactly just that.
As for the person responsible for the all the commotions, he was busy chatting with his friends.
Alex: "$735B??? How??? If it had been $5-20B, I wouldn’t be this shocked but $735B??? And you’re the second richest person in the world??? How exactly do I explain this to my parents???"
Liam: "Come on. It’s not that serious 🤣😭."
Stacey: "Are you kidding me? It’s beyond serious! We have always known that you’re rich and extraordinary. It took us to get used to it and we just estimated that you’re inheriting a multi billion dollars family empire, but $735B is an amount we had never imagined."
Liam: "Why is it so unbelievable? I rented a Gulfstream G700 for you guys return trip from Qatar. I think that should had painted the picture enough."
Kristopher: "Not even close, Liam. I remember you said that you rented it for $50M. That’s an amount that someone worth $15B can throw around. So, it’s not enough to paint the picture. Your A38 could had been enough but one can still put it in the range of $50B net worth."
Alex: "Krist is right. There was nothing enough to paint that picture for us. I’m not blaming you or anything. It’s just that our lives will never remain the same anymore. Even as I speak to you right now, there are people gathered outside our house. I don’t know how they were able to get into the neighbourhood."
Liam: "How many?"
Alex: "I counted at least twelve before I stopped looking. Some have cameras. One of them knocked on our door."
Liam: "Did you answer?"
Alex: "No."
Liam: "Good. Don’t. I’ll handle it."
Matt: "There’s also someone parked outside my building. A van. It’s been there since this morning. I thought it was a delivery thing but it hasn’t moved."
Kristopher: "I had two missed calls from a number I didn’t recognize. When I looked it up it came back to a media company."
Liam had expected the crowd outside his gate. He had not fully mapped how fast it would spread outward to the people around him.
Liam: "Don’t answer calls from numbers you don’t know. Don’t open your doors to anyone you’re not expecting. If anyone approaches you directly, don’t engage. Just walk away."
Stacy: "Liam, how long is this going to last?"
Liam: "It’ll die down."
Alex: "When?"
Liam: "When something more interesting happens."
Kristopher: "And until then?"
Liam: "Until then, you do nothing. That’s all they need from you. Nothing."
Elise: "I’m not sure doing nothing will fix the problem. But you’re right, it’s our best course of action right now."
Lana: "I actually expect it to get worse in the coming days if Liam doesn’t make an appearance."
Stacy: "We all already know that he won’t make an appearance and he won’t say anything, unless he deems it important."
Kristy: "Liam, on a more serious note. The article says the origin of your wealth has no documentation anywhere. That’s the part everyone is fixated on. Are you ever going to address that?"
Liam: "No."
Kristy: "Not even a general statement?"
Liam: "No."
Harper: "Doesn’t that make people more suspicious?"
Liam: "Yes."
Harper: "And you’re fine with that."
Liam: "Completely."
Alex: "I genuinely don’t know whether to be stressed or impressed."
Matt: "Be impressed. Always be impressed. That’s what I’ve learned."
Kristopher: "But with all said and done, the fact that you have revealed your actual wealth status, does it mean that you will reveal your identity as the owner of Nova Technologies? People have already connected the dots, you might not have much chance to keep it under wraps anymore."
Liam: "I was never hiding it in the first place. And I actually intend to do a livestream of Nova Technologies’ industrial hub in the Dimensional Space, with my face in the open."
Alex: "Wait a minute. Are you serious? It hasn’t gotten to that yet, right? You don’t have to do that. You know that there’s no coming back from it and that the way people view you will be completely different."
Liam: "First, I don’t care. Secondly, I intend to make a demonstration so that people can stay away from you guys. Thirdly, it can’t remain hidden forever. I also understand that there’s no putting the cat back in the bag after taking it out, but I really don’t care."
Matt: "The demonstration part. What does that mean exactly."
Liam: "You’ll see."
Matt: "That’s not an answer."
Liam: "It’s the only one I have right now."
Harper: "Liam, when you say demonstration, are we talking Nova Technologies announcement type or something else entirely."
Liam: "Something else entirely."
The thread went quiet for a moment.
Kristopher: "How soon."
Liam: "Today."
Alex: "TODAY???"
Stacy: "He’s already decided. There’s no point arguing."
Elise: "When has arguing with him ever changed anything."
Lana: "Never."
Matt: "Okay but can someone tell me what to expect. There’s still a van outside my building."
Liam: "Watch LucidNet."
Matt: "..."
Matt: "Bro."
Kristopher: "Is anyone going to get hurt."
Liam: "No."
Kristopher: "Okay."
Harper: "That’s it? Okay?"
Kristopher: "He said no. I believe him."
Alex: "I need everyone to notice that Krist just accepted that with zero follow up questions. Seven months ago that same man made Liam explain everything three times before he was satisfied."
Matt: "We’ve all changed."
Stacy: "Some of us more than others."
Matt: "I’m choosing to take that as a compliment."
Liam set his phone down and looked at Yanxia, who had been reading every message as it came in, sitting close enough that her shoulder was against his.
"Your friends are worried about you," she said.
"They’re worried about themselves," he said. "Which is fair."
"Are you going to fix it?"
"Yes."
She nodded and looked back at the window. Outside, through the glass, the noise from the gate was faint but present — voices, movement, the occasional flash of a camera catching the morning light.
"When?" she asked.
Liam stood.
"Now," he said.

The announcement landed and the Bloomberg thread stopped mid-sentence.
"wait."
"WAIT."
"Is Nova Technologies actually doing this."
"are they actually going to show us the owner."
"FOUNDER AND OWNER. They said founder and owner. Seven months. SEVEN MONTHS and they just—"
"is this real. someone tell me this is real."
Someone replied: "it’s real. it’s on the official account. it’s real."
"I’ve been staring at it for two minutes and I still don’t believe it."
"same."
"same."
"SAME."
"We are actually going to see him. After everything. The lunar base, the shuttle, the nanites, six billion users, the Bloomberg article this morning — and now we’re just going to see him. On a livestream. In thirty minutes."
Someone replied: "twenty six now."
"I need everyone to understand that I have been on LucidNet since the Bloomberg article dropped at midnight. I have not slept. I have not eaten. I have been waiting for something and I did not know what I was waiting for and it was this. It was this the whole time."
"the people outside his gate just read the announcement. someone is livestreaming from the street. you can watch their faces change in real time."
Someone replied: "what do their faces look like."
"like ours."
"Nova Technologies has never really put a human being in front of a camera. Not once. The only person we got was the CEO in the livestreams but he was always on mask. Seven months of the most extraordinary company in human history and the only voice was a clean formatted announcement and a LucidNet account." A pause. "And now the owner is just going to appear. Like that."
"like that."
"IS HE ACTUALLY GOING TO SHOW HIS FACE."
Someone replied: "that’s what founder and owner on a livestream means yes."
"I know what it means I just cannot believe it’s happening."
"twenty three minutes."
