My Ultimate OP System: Summoning All Dragons, Gods, Heroes & Villains
Chapter 467: The Weight Of Memories (First Bonus)
The male demon staggered slightly as the memories arranged themselves. "It’s true..." he whispered.
A few of the other wives then took the floating talismans and followed the methods. They experienced the same thing; the memories of their husband were reconstructed, and with them came the recollection of who the man had actually been.
They remembered his face, his body, his voice, his touch and how much more frequently he took turns in having sex with them.
The room was filled with stunned faces. Some stared at one another, while the others lowered their heads, struggling to process everything that had returned.
Of all troubling thoughts, one stood out the most; which is that they had all band together to help a fake, fight and kill their husbands and father.
But then there was Kimora.
She had been watching the others as they recovered their memories, and when she finally placed the talisman on her own head, nothing happened.
The green glow faded but her memories did not change; because for Kimora, the past year of her life was exactly as she remembered it.
There was no hidden truth suddenly returning to her. No altered memories being corrected, nor a different face appearing in her mind.
She looked confused still.
The sadness on her face had nothing to do with suddenly remembering some terrible truth.
It came from the atmosphere around her, from watching everyone else react to something she could not understand.
Kimora looked toward her siblings and then toward her mother.
She opened her mouth as though she wanted to say something, but then stopped.
She barely understood the full scope of what was happening; all she knew was that everyone around her was suddenly claiming that the father she knew was not really their father.
It made no sense to her.
She didn’t know what she was supposed to think, and she certainly didn’t know how to explain what she was feeling.
So she stayed quiet.
Then one of the male demons turned toward her, with his eyes narrowed. "You..."
Kimora raised her head to see that he was directly pointing at her.
"You’re not his child." He said "You’re the imposter’s child."
Kimora froze, and atmosphere around her changed immediately.
Now that their memories had returned, the others could remember the truth of their family.
Kimora wasn’t their sibling.
She was the daughter of the man they had just discovered was an impostor.
Kimora’s expression became increasingly flustered as she looked around the room.
Her eyes eventually settled on the only other person who shared the same demon mother as her; Qyreva, her immediate elder sister.
But Qyreva only stared back at her, equally confused and overwhelmed. She didn’t seem to know what to say either.
It was true that she and her sister, kimora, shared the same mother; but they had different fathers. Making them half-siblings.
Kimora’s gaze then moved toward her mother.
Lady Ariesana, the fifth and last wife of Lord Krygon was on the floor.
The return of her memories had affected her more deeply than anyone else.
Tears streamed down her face as she sat there, completely broken by everything she had just remembered.
Unlike the others, Ariesana now had to confront the full reality of given birth to the imposter’s child.
And the weight of those memories was enough to break her.
Kimora stared at her for a moment before quietly whispering, "Mother..."
But she didn’t answer; but only continued to cry.
—
And as for the reason Kimora looked closer to a five-year-old despite being only one year old; that was because of the unusual biology of her mother’s clan.
They were called Trexians.
Trexian demons developed at an exceptionally rapid rate during the early stages of their lives.
Their pregnancy period alone was remarkably short, lasting only a single month before a child was born.
After birth, their growth continued at an equally extraordinary pace, allowing Trexian children to develop over the course of only a few weeks and months.
However, the further they grew, the slower this growth process became. Their bodies eventually reached a point where their rate of development reduced significantly, allowing them to progress at a much slower and more ordinary pace.
It was a unique biological trait of the Trexians.
Because of it, Trexian women could give birth to several children within a relatively short period of time, while those children could also grow rapidly through their earliest stages of development.
This gave the Trexian clan an enormous reproductive advantage; and the potential to produce an army.
If supposedly, their population were placed under a single unified leadership, the number of soldiers they could produce over a relatively short period could become immense.
The Demon King understood this danger for a long time and had taken measures to keep the Trexian population under control.
Members of the clan were gradually eliminated over the years, with many of them being killed discreetly, allowing their numbers to decline until the clan was no longer large enough to pose a serious threat.
It was a subtle form of population control that ensured the Trexians never reached the numbers necessary to become a force capable of challenging the Demon King’s authority.
But it was precisely this potential that had attracted the original Lord Krygon to the clan in the first place.
He understood what the Trexian bloodline could offer.
Their ability to produce children rapidly and have them develop quickly made them an extremely valuable bloodline for someone seeking to build a powerful family.
That was why the original Lord Krygon had chosen to marry into the Trexian clan.
-
Before Kimora became the focus of everyone’s attention, Lilinlea immediately called the room back to the matter at hand.
"Now that every one of you know the truth, we must brace ourselves and prepare for what is to come."
Her expression hardened.
"There is going to be a change in control of this province. But first, we must rid it of everyone who will continue to stand by the lies created by that imposter."
A few of them turned toward her with determined expressions and gave agreeing nods.
Although the Demon King had permitted Nathan to overtake Lord Krygon and assume his identity, he had never been foolish enough to leave such a situation entirely unchecked.
There had to be a failsafe; something he could rely on if Nathan ever turned against him or acted outside the limits he permitted.
Although, Nathan was not the only provincial lord for whom such a measure existed.
Every provincial lord’s household had someone the Demon King maintained a specific degree of control over.
The circumstances differed from one household to another, but the purpose was the same: if any lord ever became a threat to the Demon King’s authority, he would have someone within that household through whom she could act.
For Krygon’s household, that person was Lilinlea.
