My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 546: Attack on Abberants (4)
Chapter 544
[Daigeto: Yo, yo, yo...the hell? These guys are monsters. They weren’t this cool during the Invasion.]
[Zamir: Oi! I recognise the lightning guy. He had come into my library. Aye! Why do his movements give me goosebumps? Reminds me of a certain mage I read about.]
[Noctis2nm: Where’s Proud Hater? He’s usually yapping nonstop about things he can’t accomplish. I would love to hear him speak now.] Proceeds to tag the viewer and even sends a laughing emoji.
Bonny was reading the comments while simultaneously watching the visuals coming from the drones.
She was impressed too, to be sincere.
A One-Spined Aberrant could massacre hundreds of humans effortlessly.
A Grade 6 amateur Meta-human couldn’t even think of battling such a creature.
An experienced Grade 6—heck, even an experienced Grade 5 Meta-human—could defeat a One-Spined, but to do so this cleanly and effortlessly was crazy.
But she was underestimating something crucial here.
If it wasn’t for Van’s glasses, the squad wouldn’t have thought they could cut down One-Spined Aberrants this easily.
Even though they were strong, they couldn’t simply overwhelm these creatures by spamming skills. Doing so would only make them stronger.
With the glasses, they could identify their weaknesses and kill them effectively without triggering their biological trait of growing stronger with every hit.
The normal humans hadn’t noticed this.
But someone else had.
.....
In the Aberrants’ world, the five powerful figures watching the livestream had relaxed expressions on their faces.
Only one had a slight frown tugging at his eyes.
"Wait a moment. How’s this possible?" Orvak questioned as he glared directly at the holographic screen.
The others didn’t even spare him a glance as they continued watching nonchalantly.
"...Don’t you guys see what I’m seeing? Or is it that maybe you all are blind to this or what?"
"Call me blind one more time and I will rip your eyes out." Splicer snarled, her long tail curling and swirling through the air, ready to strike at any moment.
Orvak frowned at her, glaring at her from head to toe.
"Don’t threaten me, Splicer. I can snap your neck in half without even batting a sweat. So the next time you think of threatening me, I hope you will speak some sense into your head."
A male Aberrant seated there simply sighed and shook his head.
"For real, guys, must we al—"
"—Shut your mouth, Colossus!" Orvak and Splicer snapped in unison.
The Aberrant’s nonexistent brows drew closer at the tone he was spoken to with.
"Just because I’m a Four-Spined Aberrant doesn’t mean you both can intimidate me. I can crush you both without increasing in height. Don’t mess with me."
Tension thickened around the table while Yakz quietly continued watching the livestream, his eyes focused mainly on Ray and Ray alone.
"What did you notice, Orvak? All I see is a bunch of One-Spines dying like the useless flies they are." Silver finally voiced out.
"...."
The table quietened for a moment until Orvak rubbed his face—the action eerily humane.
"Exactly my point. Unless they are overwhelmingly powerful, they shouldn’t be able to precisely target the One-Spines’ weak points so accurately. Can’t you see?"
All eyes drifted to the screen for a second, only for Yakz to reply in a bored tone.
"I had already noticed long before you did. I’m surprised. The humans have developed something to be used to locate our weak spots? Impressive."
"...?!"
"Wait, how aren’t you worried, Yakz?" Colossus asked, one brow lifting.
"The One-Spines die all the time. They’re basically cannon fodder. Sure, they can swiftly take them down, but can they do the same with stronger Aberrants?
"Do you really think the Three- and Four-Spines will allow them to get this close? Do you think it’ll be that easy?"
The Seven-Spined Aberrant remained silent for a moment.
His gaze stayed fixed on the livestream, watching the battlefield below with an almost unsettling calmness. His expression didn’t change, as though the slaughter happening before him wasn’t enough to stir even the slightest concern.
Then, slowly, the corner of his lips lifted into a smirk.
"...Besides, with this new development, I can finally tweak my work a bit more to counter this."
His smirk widened.
"Foolish humans, displaying everything to the world. Ha! Just you wait."
The other Aberrants looked toward Yakz.
For a moment, none of them spoke.
Their minds churned as they considered his words.
They knew Yakz.
They knew exactly how dangerous he was.
If the werewolf who had been able to repel Silver couldn’t put even the slightest hint of worry into Yakz’s heart, then what could a mere human invention possibly do to him?
And so, without another word, they continued watching the livestream.
...
The roar of mechanical engines tore through the air.
Van’s mechanical boots blasted him higher, carrying his body farther above the battlefield until the Aberrants below could reach him even if they tried.
The mechanical suit hummed around him as he hovered in the sky.
Then—
*Flap.*
The sound of something cutting through the air caught his attention.
Van tilted his head.
His eyes widened slightly.
Ray was shooting through the sky.
A pair of transparent wings blurred behind him, beating rapidly as they carried him forward. Mist sprayed from the vents of his boots, leaving a pale trail in the air behind him.
Within moments, Ray reached Van and came to a stop beside him.
"Ready?" Ray called.
Van’s lips curved into a smirk.
He turned around.
His back met Ray’s.
And just like that, the two best friends hovered back-to-back above the battlefield.
Neither needed to say anything else.
Their eyes swept across the Wall below.
More Aberrants were scattered throughout the ruined territory, their massive bodies moving through the remains of buildings and rubble.
But Ray and Van weren’t merely looking for targets.
They were searching for more.
Stronger ones.
Their eyes continued scanning the Wall, watching for any sign of a greater threat heading their way.
Then—
Van’s mechanical hands began glowing brighter.
Energy gathered inside the palms of his mech suit until two concentrated beams slowly began to emerge.
Beside him, one of Ray’s hands began glowing with brilliant light.
The radiance gathered rapidly, coalescing into a swirling orb of condensed energy.
His other hand erupted with lightning.
Electricity crawled violently across his arm before gathering together, taking the shape of a spear.
Ray and Van’s expressions hardened.
And then—
**BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!**
The consecutive explosions echoed across Wall Rose.
The battlefield below suddenly came under bombardment.
Attacks rained down from the two best friends in a relentless storm.
Every strike was precise.
Every attack was aimed.
Some struck the Aberrants directly, killing them before they could even react.
Others targeted their bodies and limbs, immobilizing them long enough for the Vanguards below to finish them off.
There was no wasted movement.
No hesitation.
No pause.
Nonstop.
Orbs of light tore through the air.
Lightning spears descended like bolts of divine punishment.
Searing beams erupted from Van’s mechanical hands, carving through the battlefield with blinding speed.
And beneath them, the squad moved.
They weaved between the descending attacks, slipping through the gaps as Ray and Van’s bombardment created openings for them to exploit.
An Aberrant was struck and staggered.
A Vanguard immediately appeared.
Another was pinned down.
Another Vanguard finished it.
One after another.
Again.
And again.
And again.
**Chaos.**
That was all Ray and Van were creating.
Pure chaos.
The two best friends spun around one another in midair, their backs occasionally brushing against each other as they continued unleashing attack after attack upon the Aberrants below.
Their hands remained extended.
Their expressions remained hardened.
And the bombardment never stopped.
Light.
Lightning.
Beams.
All of it descended upon Wall Rose in a continuous storm.
Raze watched from below, calmly taking another swig from his rapidly diminishing coffee.
His eyes remained fixed on the spectacle above.
The sky itself seemed to be changing.
Crackling blue lightning intertwined with brilliant white light, illuminating the battlefield in flashes.
It was almost beautiful.
Almost.
Because beneath that beautiful display was devastation.
The attacks were far too precise to be random.
They struck with the accuracy of snipers picking off targets from impossible distances.
An orb of light descended.
**BOOM!**
An Aberrant collapsed.
A lightning spear followed.
**CRACK!**
Another creature was brought down.
A searing beam swept across the battlefield.
Buildings shook before collapsing beneath the force.
Weaker structures tumbled apart, their remains cascading downward like an avalanche of stone and debris.
Dust exploded into the air.
Rubble scattered across the ground.
Aberrants collapsed one after another like enormous trees being cut down.
And above it all—
Ray and Van continued hovering back-to-back.
Still firing.
Still watching.
Still raining destruction upon the creatures below.
It was a breathtaking display of coordination between two best friends who had fought together long enough to understand each other’s movements without needing to speak.
A bombardment from above.
A slaughter from below.
And all of it—
was being witnessed by the world.
