Chapter 536: Failed Flirt!

Chapter 534

The next morning arrived with Ray stretching on his bed like someone who had just experienced the best sleep of his life.

Truth be told, he didn’t really need to sleep at all.

He could function without sleeping for days, but sometimes, even with his Tribrid nature, he liked to feel human once in a while.

And what was one of the best things about being human?

Sleeping and eating after a daunting task the day before.

But the moment his eyes opened, his phone began beeping loudly and furiously, causing him to wipe his face with a frown.

"Who the fuck is the idiot calling at such e—?!"

As he reached for the phone to see who the caller was, he suddenly swallowed back his anger and quickly picked up.

"Captain!"

"Yawn... why do I suddenly feel like I was just insulted? Anyway, I’m calling to inform you all—"

*You all? Is he on a conf—?!*

"—I need you all to come meet me in an hour. The location will be sent to your devices so you can navigate around the place and come meet me. Don’t keep me waiting."

And with that, the call ended.

No explanation for what the reason for the meeting was.

Just a summon, and that was all.

Looking at the phone for a few moments, Ray hissed and threw it onto the bed before turning back around and lying down again.

Ding!

A low chime resounded from the phone, causing the Tribrid to peek at the screen.

It was a message from the Captain.

"Hurry the fuck up!"

Ray immediately jumped out of bed frantically as he looked around the room.

*Did he bug my room or what? Sheesh. Let’s go take our bath.*

«Hmph. So much exaggeration from you. The short man ain’t even that scary. Tsk.» Bruce snarked from the mindspace as Ray hurried towards the bathroom to get ready.

Within twenty minutes, he was done.

Quickly using the remaining time to brew himself a cup of tea, he began whipping up an omelette to go.

Soon, the mini breakfast was ready.

Ray walked over to his couch and began eating while reading *Magus Supremacy* online.

He had managed to find a few Chapters online and was immediately immersed in it.

As for *Shadow of Death*, he had already grown bored of the horror and decided to read this new fantasy tale instead.

*For such a weird-named author, his novels are quite good. Not as peak as what I’m used to, but still good.*

He ate, read, and drank his tea quietly.

And when he was done, he rushed to wash his dirty dishes before hurrying outside, where he found the others straightening their uniforms.

Van was hurriedly straightening his hair instead, letting out a quiet yawn every now and then.

"Are we set?" Kai asked while looking around.

"What even is the time that we are woken up so early?" Felix hissed as he massaged his temples with his fingers.

"We shouldn’t keep the Captain waiting. Come on." Caster hurried as he turned around and began leaving.

The others quickly fell in line.

Ray spared Trish a quick glance, his brows arching.

"You look awful."

Everybody froze in their tracks, their heads stiffly turning to look at Ray.

Trisha’s eyes burned with fury as she slowly turned to glare daggers at the Tribrid.

Seeing the sudden reaction, Ray quickly cleared his throat and frantically shook his head.

"Uh, no... I don’t mean ’awful’ in that sense. You look beautiful...er... I just meant you—"

"Are you trying to say that she looks awfully beautiful? Way to compliment a girl, brother." Felix cackled.

"Fuck you, Felix."

"Sure, anytime, bro." Felix spared the Tribrid a wink.

Ray inhaled, then shook his head.

"I meant, you look tired. Didn’t get enough sleep?"

Trisha stared at him for several moments before turning away and beginning to walk away from the boy, choosing to continue towards the Captain alone.

Ray blinked for several seconds.

"What did I do?"

Chloe smacked him from behind with a shake of her head.

"You are an awful flirt. Never seen a guy fumble flirting so badly before."

*I wasn’t trying to flirt.*

"How many guys have you seen flirt before?" Felix asked with a cocked brow as they resumed their walk.

"A lot."

"Sheesh. I doubt they were for you, though," Felix added with a cheeky grin.

Chloe’s brows drew closer, her eyes twitching with anger.

A moment before she could explode, Kai placed a hand on her shoulder and shook his head.

"Come on. The Captain is waiting."

Chloe turned her head to the side, her cheeks heating up for a moment.

Before she frowned and shot the werewolf an icy look.

"See? A gentleman he is not. Not a barbaric pervert like you."

"Too bad for you that you aren’t in the league of girls I perform chivalry for." Felix whistled as he walked past, his hands resting behind his head.

Chloe was left fuming.

If it were possible, smoke would have been rising from the top of her head as she glared at the departing werewolf.

Ray simply shook his head at his friends as they all quietly began navigating through the bustling base.

A few Vanguards spared them disgusted looks, most of them directed towards Ray.

Some even whispered curses at him, which he definitely heard but didn’t react to at all.

As long as they were too weak to pose a threat, he would ignore them.

They were simply too beneath him for him to bother engaging with them.

And as they moved deeper into the base, following the live location sent to them, they were eventually led outside.

A new structure stood a few metres away to the side, much smaller than the skyscraper-like building they had just emerged from.

They could be seen walking towards it before soon vanishing through the opened entrance.

Ready to meet the Captain.
