Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Grabbed Hold

Seeing the team run inside, Captain Taylor, who couldn’t stop thinking about Zoe Sawyer’s warning, couldn’t help but shout.

He opened his mouth, but in the end, only managed to say, "Be careful!"

"Understood!" Cap Wright didn’t break stride, leading his team as they rushed up the stairs.

After a few minutes of pursuit, the Overpass Man appeared before Cap Wright and his team.

No words were needed. Everyone instinctively picked up the pace and continued the chase. As they ran, they began to fan out, cutting off all the Overpass Man’s potential escape routes and forcing him to keep climbing higher.

"Cap Wright, I’ll go block the stairwell entrance. We can’t let him get any higher," one of the men behind Cap Wright said in a low voice after scanning the new floor’s layout.

"Go for it. Be careful!" Cap Wright didn’t object.

The Overpass Man tried to break through the stairs and escape several times but was forced to retreat by the officer stationed there.

Gradually, Cap Wright’s team formed an encirclement, trapping the Overpass Man in the center.

"Hands up! Drop your weapon! Surrender!" Cap Wright and his men raised their guns, aiming at the Overpass Man, who had his back to a corner.

Looking at the weapons in the hands of Cap Wright and his men, the Overpass Man slowly crouched down and tossed the object in his hand to the ground.

Then he slowly removed his mask and hat, revealing the face of a foreigner.

The Overpass Man subtly glanced at the window behind Cap Wright, and an idea for another escape route instantly came to mind.

"I surrender. Please, spare my life." The Overpass Man raised his hands to show he was harmless while slowly approaching Cap Wright.

Cap Wright frowned, his eyes locked on the Overpass Man who was slowly approaching him.

Zoe Sawyer’s warning from yesterday flashed through his mind again: he would be pushed from a high-rise building and die on the spot.

’This must be it!’

Almost in the next instant, the Overpass Man suddenly accelerated and charged toward Cap Wright.

"Cap Wright, watch out!"

"Look out!"

The surrounding team members cried out in alarm, firing their guns in the Overpass Man’s direction.

But because of the thought that had just popped into his head, Cap Wright instinctively dove to the side, perfectly avoiding the Overpass Man’s outstretched hand.

With Cap Wright no longer in his way, the Overpass Man had a clear path and lunged for the window.

"OOF!"

The force from the bullets combined with his own momentum sent the Overpass Man crashing through the window. He plunged straight down.

The moment Cap Wright hit the ground, a thought flashed through his mind: ’Damn it, if the suspect dies, the lead goes cold!’

"Cap Wright! Are you okay?!" The nearby officers rushed over and quickly helped Cap Wright up, a look of relief on every face.

Thankfully, Cap Wright had dodged. Thankfully, he hadn’t been knocked out.

"I’m fine!" Cap Wright scrambled to his feet and immediately rushed to the window to look down.

He expected to see the Overpass Man’s body smashed to a bloody pulp, but instead, on the floor below, he saw one of Zoe Sawyer’s team members with a rescue rope tied around his waist.

One hand gripped the window frame, while the other held a death grip on the Overpass Man’s collar.

The Overpass Man’s head was lolling; he had already fainted from the shock.

"Quick! Get down there and lend a hand! The suspect didn’t fall!" Cap Wright snapped back to reality and quickly ordered his team to go down and help.

Hearing the voices from above, Barry Quinn let out a huge sigh of relief. ’Good, they’re here.’

"Zoe Sawyer, I can hold on. You can close the door now," Barry Quinn said, turning his head to look at Zoe Sawyer, who was propping a door open with a worried expression on her face.

They were able to catch the man so promptly this time all thanks to Zoe Sawyer, who had been monitoring the situation through her earpiece.

After hearing the team members’ cries of alarm, she had quickly locked onto Cap Wright’s position and placed the door on the floor below him.

The well-coordinated Barry Quinn and Monkey had already tied a rescue rope around their waists. As soon as the door opened, Barry Quinn opened the window and stood by, ready to make the save at a moment’s notice.

Sure enough, just a few seconds later, a figure fell from the floor above.

Barry Quinn, with his quick reflexes, managed to grab him.

The immense impact and pulling force dragged Barry Quinn’s body downward for a moment, but because he had been prepared, it didn’t affect him much.

Hearing the footsteps running down from upstairs grow closer, Zoe Sawyer confirmed once more that Barry Quinn was okay before she finally closed the door.

The next moment, the faces of Cap Wright and his team appeared in Barry Quinn’s line of sight.

"Quick! Get over there and help!"

Cap Wright quickly waved his nearby team members over to assist.

With several people pulling together, they quickly hauled the Overpass Man in from outside the window.

"You alright?" Cap Wright looked at Barry Quinn, who was leaning against the wall, and glanced worriedly at his arm.

Barry Quinn shook his head, clutched his shoulder and moved it slightly. "Don’t worry, I’m fine," he said.

After confirming that Barry Quinn was truly uninjured, Cap Wright patted down the Overpass Man from head to toe. There was nothing on him but his clothes.

"Use this. Tie him up and take him away." Barry Quinn took off the rescue rope and handed it to Captain Wright.

Looking at the rope, a flash of confusion crossed Captain Wright’s eyes. He didn’t know when Barry Quinn had caught up, let alone how he was so well-equipped and had so precisely positioned himself at this window to save the man.

But then he remembered the hint Captain Taylor had given him, telling him not to dig too deep into the secrets of Zoe Sawyer and the others who had come to provide support.

In the end, he suppressed the questions he wanted to ask.

"Captain Taylor, the suspect is in custody. I’m bringing him back now." Cap Wright pressed his earpiece and reported the situation to Captain Taylor on the other end.

Even though he knew Cap Wright had escaped his deadly fate, Captain Taylor’s anxious heart only truly settled after hearing his voice report in safely. He said repeatedly, "Good, good, good. As long as you got him!

The other two teams have also caught their suspects and are on their way back. Cap Wright, no need to provide backup, just bring your man straight back."

"Understood." Cap Wright acknowledged, then gestured for his team to tie up the Overpass Man and take him away.

Once it was confirmed that all teams were heading back, everyone in the two offices breathed a sigh of relief.

’Thank goodness, they’ve been caught!’

The mission was more than halfway complete. All that was left was to find out if they had any other operatives remaining in the country.

Captain Taylor watched the three groups returning on the screen, then walked out of his office and headed toward Zoe Sawyer.

"Sawyer, I really have to thank you this time. If it weren’t for you all, Cap Wright and his team might have really been in trouble." Captain Taylor’s voice was filled with gratitude as he recalled the recent events.

Besides the situation with Cap Wright and Joey, the remaining team had been hindered by various "accidents" created by the woman they were pursuing.

The most dangerous incident was a sign that suddenly fell from overhead.

If it hadn’t been for Heath Hale, who was with the team, keeping the possibility in mind and promptly warning everyone when he noticed something was off, that small but heavy sign would have definitely caused some of the officers serious injuries.

"It was nothing. Don’t worry about it."
