My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 236: Vanished into Thin Air
Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Vanished into Thin Air
Shane Lynch stuck out his tongue and licked the corner of his mouth, an excited smile spreading across his face.
’As for the hostages, I only need to keep one.’
’The rest can be my entertainment before the cops get here.’
As he thought this, Shane Lynch picked up a butcher knife from a nearby table and gave it a few swings.
He then nodded in satisfaction. It was a new knife, but it had a good feel to it.
The three young women in the corner cowered together in fear. The one in the middle clutched the unconscious little girl in her arms, her body curled up like a shrimp.
The other two instinctively wrapped their arms around the girl in the center, trying to shield her from Shane Lynch’s view with their own bodies.
"Such touching friendship. Since you all want to protect the one in the middle, I’ll start with her." Shane Lynch’s shoulders trembled with excitement, his face filled with eagerness.
Gripping the knife, he closed in on the three young women in the corner, one step at a time.
Shane Lynch’s steps were slow and small. He would take one step forward, then two steps back.
He loved to admire the terrified expressions on his victims’ faces. The feeling was better than any high!
"Zoe, can you move the door to the room across from us? We need to make some noise to draw the killer’s attention away," Heath Hale said, pointing at the computer screen.
’We can’t let this Shane Lynch harm the hostages!’
’Once we lure him out, we have to open the door from behind and get them out of there.’
Zoe Sawyer nodded. ’Just moving a door? That’s simple.’
Leaving the camera in place, Zoe Sawyer quickly moved the door to the location Heath Hale had indicated.
Then, she opened it.
Evan Keller seized the opportunity to throw a rock he had ready. Zoe Sawyer immediately shut the door again and moved it behind the young women. Evan Keller and the others readied their tranquilizer guns.
The sound of the rock hitting the ground was exceptionally clear in the abandoned building.
Shane Lynch, who had just reached the three young women, froze. He turned and walked outside.
’Have the cops already found this place so soon?’
The moment Shane Lynch stepped out of the room, Zoe Sawyer opened the door.
Evan Keller and Heath Hale quickly shot each of the three hostages with a tranquilizer dart.
The potent drug knocked them out instantly. Team members beside them swiftly dragged all three into their room, and Zoe Sawyer shut the door just in time.
Once they were pulled in, Hayden Shaw, who was on standby outside, immediately took his men and transported the three young women and the little girl to the police station’s infirmary.
Zoe Sawyer and the others worked with incredible coordination. The entire operation took less than a minute.
Zoe Sawyer only breathed a sigh of relief after Hayden Shaw had taken the hostages away.
’Cornering the criminal was part of our plan, but so was rescuing the hostages!’
"Inform the chief that the hostages have been rescued," Evan Keller instructed a team member beside him in a low voice, his eyes never leaving the computer screen in front of him.
Shane Lynch was already on his way back from outside!
He came back right after the door closed! If they had been a second slower, he would have caught them!
Upon returning to the room and seeing that the three hostages who should have been in the corner were gone, Shane Lynch’s already grim expression turned even fouler.
He had sealed all the windows in this room, leaving the door as the only exit. So how did the three people he’d caught for his amusement escape?
’Through the door?’
’Impossible!’
’I definitely would have heard them running away. Besides, the only footsteps outside were my own. There’s no way they escaped through the door!’
Unable to figure it out, Shane Lynch furiously kicked the nearby wall.
’Dammit, my little playthings for relieving my boredom just vanished into thin air?!’
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Shane Lynch pulled out his phone and dialed the skinny man’s number. "Are you guys here yet?"
"Blaze? We just found the place," the skinny man said, glancing at his phone with some confusion.
’Didn’t we just get off the phone a little while ago?’
"The hostages I brought here vanished into thin air. Go find me a few more from around the area." Shane Lynch’s voice was agitated. Toward the end, he even took out the butcher knife and started hacking at the table in front of him, blow after blow.
"Vanished into thin air?" The skinny man’s tone was full of doubt. ’Is Blaze high? How could he say something so ridiculous?’
Before he could think it over, Shane Lynch hung up.
’I can’t take it anymore. My hands are itching. If I don’t get something to relieve this urge, I’m going to lose my mind!’
Shane Lynch tossed the butcher knife onto the table, felt the butterfly knife in his pocket, and gritted his teeth before walking out again.
Cops or no cops, he wasn’t interested in waiting anymore!
’Let them come up empty-handed!’
’Anyway, the mission Big Sis gave me is already complete. It doesn’t matter if I run now!’
’As for the skinny man already lying in ambush nearby?’
’What’s he got to do with me!’
Just as Shane Lynch’s foot crossed the threshold, he remembered Big Sis. The thought of her methods of punishment made him shudder, and he retreated back into the room.
Shane Lynch pulled out his phone and dialed a number he knew by heart. The moment the call connected, Zoe Sawyer and the others back in the office held their breath.
"Big Sis, the mission you gave me to make a scene and attract the cops’ attention is complete.
The hostages I caught vanished into thin air. My hands are really itching right now. Can I go do some delicate work slicing up flesh?" Shane Lynch’s voice was laced with urgency.
As for why the people had vanished into thin air?
Shane Lynch, his mind consumed by thoughts of murder, had no desire to even think about it.
On the other end of the line, upon hearing Shane Lynch’s words, the woman known as Big Sis, who had been lazily lounging on a sofa, sat up straight. She raised an eyebrow with great interest. "Vanished into thin air?"
"Yeah! I hand-picked those three. They were all top-notch. And they disappeared before I even got to play." Shane Lynch’s voice was tinged with frustration and urgency. "Big Sis, I’ve completed the mission. The cops are on their way here with their people. Can I leave now?"
’If I don’t leave soon, I might run right into them!’
"No, you may not. Find a place to hide. I’ll have someone send something over to you. You take care of the cops who show up, and I’ll send you to Coralia. I have a ’meat farm’ there, enough for you to play to your heart’s content.
"I have one more request: find out where those people who vanished into thin air went. If you fail, Shane Lynch... you don’t want to know my methods." Big Sis’s voice came through the phone’s speaker, making Shane Lynch, alone in his room, shudder involuntarily.
The itching sensation in his hands instantly vanished.
’Big Sis’s methods?’
’Was it the alligator pit, or the small pond full of piranhas where you’re bled out slowly?’
’Whichever one it was, he didn’t want to experience it!’
"I understand, Big Sis." Shane Lynch immediately lowered his head.
’He hadn’t had his fill of playing yet! He didn’t want to die!’
