My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 164: Big Brother, This is Bad! We’re in Big Trouble
Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Big Brother, This is Bad! We’re in Big Trouble
Since she couldn’t get out anyway, hiding things wouldn’t do her any good. The girl decided not to hold anything back.
She must have figured that since she was already caught, she might as well drag someone else down with her. So, she answered everything Monkey asked.
Anything she didn’t know, she’d just give up her accomplice for, telling Monkey to go ask them instead.
After spilling every secret she knew, the girl smacked her lips as if she wasn’t quite done, and offered another piece of intel. "I think Six is working with someone local to bomb a bank. They have all the equipment ready, but I don’t know the exact address.
"But I do know the bombs they prepared are the real deal—high-grade stuff, the super-powerful kind!"
’Working with someone local, and planning to bomb a bank!’
Outside, Zoe Sawyer and Heath Hale immediately connected this Six to the boss Dexter Bishop had mentioned.
What a coincidence!
"Ask her if she’s ever seen this Six. If she has, get a description so Beau can sketch him." Zoe Sawyer pointed at the girl in the interrogation room and shared her idea.
’If she’s seen him, she can describe him, and Beau can produce a sketch.’
’That way, with a name and a face, they could catch the whole group off guard!’
’They might even be able to turn the tables and get out of this reactive situation!’
’We can’t always be on the back foot, just waiting for these criminals to act before we go after them!’
’If they could get a lead and nab a minor boss, they might be able to squeeze him for more intel on the organization!’
Heath Hale immediately understood Zoe Sawyer’s thinking and sprinted toward the office.
After Beau was brought in and everything was set, Monkey, at Barry Quinn’s signal, asked about what Six looked like.
She’d already said so much; what was a physical description? The girl saw no reason to hide it and gave a detailed account of the man she’d seen.
Thanks to the girl’s cooperation, Beau finished the sketch in no time.
"Yes, that’s exactly what he looks like!" The girl’s eyes lit up the moment she saw Beau’s sketch.
’If I didn’t know for a fact that they’d never met Six, I’d think they already had the picture and were just testing me to see if I was telling the truth.’
"You’re smart for not trying to lie. As for whether the rest of what you said is true, we’ll confirm that ourselves." Monkey glanced at the sketch, pursed his lips, looked at the girl one more time, and then walked out.
With the girl’s testimony in hand, breaking the other suspect—a man—was much easier.
However, these two were just peripheral members and had no access to the organization’s core secrets.
Even the intel they had on the rehabilitation center and Six was information they’d only received because of this mission.
When it came to any more secrets—specifically about their female boss, the "Big Sister"—they were completely in the dark.
The only thing they could confirm was that this "Big Sister" was still very young!
"What’s next? Do we move fast and go arrest him now?" Zoe Sawyer asked, studying the sketch in her hand, trying to commit it to memory.
Heath Hale nodded. "We press our advantage and arrest him immediately. It’ll be a problem if he gets wind of something and bolts."
The raid at The Lumina had caused too much of a stir. If they didn’t move quickly, Heath Hale was worried their target would catch wind of it and run. Finding him again after that would be far more troublesome.
Now they just had to wait for Evan Keller and his team to get back. Then, with help from the Provincial Bureau and their colleagues in East Varden, the three groups could coordinate and wipe out the entire crew in one go.
Barry Quinn stared intently at the sketch. The man looked strikingly similar to someone he’d seen in the enemy ranks during his last mission with his team.
Back then, the target had been standing behind a crowd, and time was short, so Barry had only managed a fleeting glimpse before he had to pull back.
’I can’t believe this mild-looking man is actually the leader of that group!’
"Boss, this man..." Monkey came over, his hands clenched into tight fists.
He still couldn’t forget the teammate who had died on that mission—the one who hadn’t even left a complete body behind.
"I know, I know. Don’t get ahead of yourself." Barry Quinn patted Monkey’s shoulder, telling him to calm down.
’I’m definitely requesting to be part of this operation!’
’I have to avenge my teammate with my own two hands!’
Heath Hale glanced at his phone. Judging by the time, they should be back any minute.
Sure enough, less than half an hour later, Evan Keller and his team returned.
He was carrying the bomb, now rendered harmless.
Heath Hale quickly went to meet him, briefing him on their recent findings and laying out his proposed plan of action.
While they were waiting, Heath Hale had reported to the Chief, who had green-lit their operation at once.
Now everything was in place; they just needed the personnel.
"I understand. Zoe Sawyer, locating him is your job. We’re going to get ready now!" After setting the device down, Evan Keller turned to leave, but Barry Quinn and Monkey blocked his path.
Meeting Evan Keller’s questioning gaze, Barry Quinn stated seriously that he wanted to join the operation.
Evan Keller refused almost without a second thought. "Sorry, your mission is to protect Zoe Sawyer."
With that, he hurried away.
The others from the Provincial Bureau averted their eyes and followed Evan Keller out.
They had a tough fight ahead of them, so they needed to be fully prepared.
Soon, only Zoe Sawyer and her detail were left in the office.
Barry Quinn and Monkey watched the others’ departing figures. They took an impulsive step forward to press their case, but Zoe Sawyer grabbed their sleeves.
"Don’t go. Evan Keller will never agree. Besides, you’re sticking with me. If an opportunity presents itself after they breach the door, you just go in.
"After all, you’d just be ’eliminating a threat to my safety,’" Zoe Sawyer added, stressing the last phrase.
’Besides, it wasn’t just people from their own department there; the Provincial Bureau was present too.’
’Evan couldn’t have approved their request in that situation, not even for Barry Quinn and Monkey’s sakes.’
Barry Quinn and Monkey immediately understood Zoe Sawyer’s meaning.
The two of them were currently Zoe Sawyer’s bodyguards; on principle, they couldn’t participate in a police operation.
But since their principal was now going to be at the scene of the operation, eliminating threats to her safety was, by definition, their job.
"Sorry about that. I got carried away for a second and forgot," Monkey said, rubbing the back of his head, embarrassed.
’All I could think about was getting revenge for my teammate; I nearly forgot my most important duty.’
Zoe Sawyer shook her head. She understood how Barry Quinn and Monkey felt.
"Get ready. What comes next won’t be easy," Zoe Sawyer said with a shrug, moving on from the topic.
Meanwhile, in another location, the atmosphere was far less optimistic.
Six stared at the black computer screen in front of him, his expression growing darker by the second.
’Where’s the damn surveillance feed? Why isn’t it up yet?’
"Boss, bad news! Something’s happened!"
