My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 153: Can I Atone for My Crimes?
Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Can I Atone for My Crimes?
Hearing what Pierce Miller said, Wyatt Ford’s first instinct was to shoot him in the head.
’Idiot!’
’If it weren’t for the fact that no one lived nearby, that shout would have definitely alerted everyone!’
’If he ruined Old Man Dex’s plans, not one of them would have lived to regret it!’
But before Wyatt Ford could make a move, Evan Keller had already shot him.
The high-powered tranquilizer gun took effect instantly. Wyatt Ford’s body swayed, and just as he was about to collapse, Evan Keller rushed forward to catch him. He then dragged him through Zoe Sawyer’s portal and back to the police station.
The moment he was brought through, officers took over. They bound him securely and gagged him to prevent him from suddenly waking up and crying out, which would jeopardize the entire operation.
Pierce Miller was smart enough not to ask any questions.
He knew some of the police had special abilities. That, combined with his past crimes, meant he would never walk out of a police station a free man again.
All he could do now was try to bargain for himself and for Ethan Miller.
"I’ll cooperate completely," Pierce Miller said, his voice laced with bitterness. "I’ll tell you everything, and I won’t make a sound to alert anyone outside. But can you please take my brother, too? If you leave him here, Old Man Dex and his men will take their anger out on his body when they can’t find me."
He wasn’t an idiot. He knew Wyatt Ford’s sudden move meant he’d figured something out.
Like his ambition to become the boss.
But Ethan Miller was innocent. He’d never revealed a single one of his plans to his brother, yet he was killed anyway.
All he could do now was protect his brother’s body.
’Maybe someday, the two of them could lie in the same urn, just like they were in their mother’s womb.’
Zoe Sawyer and the others didn’t refuse his request.
After quickly photographing the scene for evidence, they brought both brothers back to the station.
Just as they were crossing through the portal, Pierce Miller seemed to remember something. He pointed toward the sofa. "There’s a map hidden under the cushion. It should be useful to you. And don’t worry, there aren’t any cameras in this room. You won’t be discovered."
Officer Lee and another policeman quickly gathered the items, making sure to take the surveillance recorder as well.
This would completely erase any trace of them ever being in the room.
’Well, since we’re already here, why not...’
Zoe Sawyer’s gaze drifted to the adjacent room. ’Might as well grab two as grab one.’
"Don’t even think about it. The other rooms are loaded with gadgets. Even with your special abilities, you’ll be spotted."
The expression on Zoe Sawyer’s face must have been too obvious, because Pierce Miller, who was under guard, couldn’t help but interrupt her fantasy.
He and Ethan Miller didn’t like that stuff in their room, which is why it was clear of surveillance equipment.
But the others were different. To show their loyalty, and to stop anyone from making a move on them, their rooms had cameras in all four corners. No blind spots.
The moment the police went over, they would be discovered for sure.
’Besides, if the cops actually managed to arrest everyone now, what value would my future intel have?’
Pierce Miller’s eyes darted about. ’There’s no hope of getting out, but maybe I can still bargain for a few things?’
At this thought, Pierce Miller couldn’t help but glance in Zoe Sawyer’s direction. But the next second, Barry Quinn and Monkey, who were standing guard by her side, glared at him, forcing him to look away.
Since the man himself had spoken, Zoe Sawyer had no choice but to abandon her idea.
"Alright, we have more important things to do," Heath Hale said, opting for a steady, methodical approach rather than a rash one. "Let’s interrogate these two first."
After confirming nothing had been missed, Zoe Sawyer closed the portal. ℯℯ𝑙.
Meanwhile, Old Man Dex grew displeased after waiting a long time for Wyatt Ford to return and report. He frowned, summoned another man, and told him to go check on the situation.
’He’d better not have gotten taken down by the Miller Brothers.’
’He still had plenty of work for Wyatt Ford to do!’
Soon, the man who had gone to check on the situation returned.
"There’s a pool of blood in the Miller Brothers’ room, but they’re gone," the man said, giving a brief summary of the situation. "Looks like Ford killed one of them and made the other help him get rid of the body."
As for why Wyatt Ford didn’t call for help from the other rooms, he had no idea.
After all, none of them had left their rooms, and they hadn’t heard any commotion.
If it hadn’t been for Old Man Dex’s sudden call, he’d still be in his bed, sleeping soundly.
Old Man Dex clicked his tongue in annoyance. That Wyatt Ford. Killing the guy was fine, but he could have left destroying the evidence to someone else.
He had a pile of jobs for him, and now who knew when he’d be back. If this caused a delay, it would be a real problem!
As he mulled it over, Old Man Dex’s gaze suddenly fell upon the man standing before him.
"Forget it. Since Wyatt Ford isn’t back yet, you can handle this for me." After saying that, Old Man Dex explained the task in detail. Once he was sure the man understood everything, he waved him away.
The man left the room, his face alight with surprise and delight. What an unexpected windfall!
’If I do this well and get on Old Man Dex’s good side, my future will be much brighter than it is now!’
’Thank you, you suicidal Miller Brothers! Thank you, Wyatt Ford, for not calling for help to dispose of the body! Thanks to you, I’ve stumbled upon the opportunity of a lifetime!’
Even as he was thinking this, the man didn’t slow down. After grabbing the necessary supplies, he left the house to carry out his mission.
While Old Man Dex was forced to make other arrangements due to Wyatt Ford’s absence, back at the police station, Evan Keller and Heath Hale had placed the two captured men in separate interrogation rooms, ready to question them thoroughly.
Since Wyatt Ford was still unconscious, they had to focus on Pierce Miller for the time being.
Medics had given him some simple bandages, leaving only after confirming the bleeding had stopped.
"Alright, talk," Heath Hale said, rapping his knuckles on the table and pulling Pierce Miller from his reverie. "What exactly did you mean by what you shouted earlier?"
Pierce Miller scanned the interrogation room but didn’t see Zoe Sawyer. He asked with curiosity, "Where’s your secret weapon? Why isn’t she in here for the questioning?
Speaking of which, can you guys really go anywhere? With an ability like that, why not just go grab Old Man Dex directly?"
"Watch your attitude. We’re asking the questions here, not you," Heath Hale said, rapping the table again. He ignored Pierce Miller’s questions.
Meeting the dark glares of Evan Keller and Heath Hale, Pierce Miller gave an awkward shrug and didn’t press the matter.
’No point in asking anyway. It’s not like I’ll ever get the chance to tell anyone this secret in my life, so there’s no need to dig for details.’
"If I tell you everything, what’s in it for me? Can I get a deal?"
