Chapter 150: Chapter 150: The Real Fun Begins

Old Man Dex looked at the red button in his hand, a flicker of excitement and eagerness in his eyes.

He wanted that cop, Evan Keller, to die in the grand gift he’d prepared for him!

He couldn’t wait to see the looks of terror and grief on those cops’ faces.

Nothing less could make up for the men and assets he’d lost back in Varden!

If it weren’t for the backing he’d received, he’d be cowering in some backwater town like a stray dog, waiting to die. He certainly wouldn’t have an opportunity like this!

Just as Dexter Bishop was leaning back in his chair, smugly fantasizing about the looks on Evan Keller and his men’s faces, the phone he’d set aside suddenly rang.

Hearing the ringtone, Dexter Bishop instantly sat bolt upright and waved his underlings out of the room.

Just before the door closed, Dexter Bishop answered the call. His fawning tone slipped through the crack of the door to the ears of the men outside.

"Boss! What can I do for you?"

The man from the pedestrian street looked a bit stunned. It must have been the first time he’d heard the boss speak to someone in such a fawning tone. ’The person on the other end of the line... is that the boss’s boss?’

His twin brother, however, was already thinking further ahead.

Back when the boss was in Varden, there was no one above him. Everyone thought he was finished after being cornered by the cops.

But who would’ve thought he’d find someone powerful to latch onto.

’If I had an opportunity like that, couldn’t I do even better than him?’

The thought of successfully ousting Old Man Dex, of wielding immense power, even holding people’s lives in his hands, made the man’s breath quicken.

’No, I have to find a chance to get the boss’s boss to notice me.’

’I want to hold power too, to enjoy a life above others!’

"What’s wrong? Let’s go." The man from the pedestrian street gave his brother a strange look. Why did he suddenly seem so intense? It was just too strange.

"Coming."

The man noticed the others looking at him and reined in his expression, schooling his features.

’Now is not the time to reveal my ambition. I need to lay low and build my strength!’

The man from the pedestrian street didn’t notice his twin’s odd behavior, but the others weren’t so easily fooled.

One of them, a man with a buzz cut, watched the two brothers walking ahead. He made a subtle gesture with his hand behind his back, signaling for the others to keep an eye on them.

If necessary, they could act directly and clean house for the boss!

The men behind the one with the buzz cut exchanged glances and nodded in silent, perfect understanding.

Meanwhile, Dexter Bishop, who was still on the phone, was not in such a good mood.

He was speaking to the person on the other end with fear and trepidation, his tone utterly subservient.

"Boss, you called. What are your orders?" Dexter Bishop’s tone was full of eagerness to please as he instantly sat up straight, no longer leaning back in his chair.

He kept nodding as he spoke, his back slowly hunching over, completely devoid of the boss-like aura he’d had just moments before.

He hadn’t expected this. Before, he could only ever contact Six’s right-hand man. This time, the big boss himself had called him directly.

’Has the boss finally seen my worth?!’

"I hear you whipped up a few packs of explosives, tossed them on the road, and sent those cops running around in circles?" Six asked nonchalantly, fiddling with a butterfly knife in his hand.

At the mention of this, Dexter Bishop was wide awake.

This was his specialty!

It’s just that expanding his territory had gone so smoothly before that he never needed to use this skill, so he never had a chance to show it off.

This time, he’d only done it to teach those cops a lesson, getting back to his old trade. He never expected to get noticed by the higher-ups so soon.

"Yes, Boss! That’s my specialty!" Dexter Bishop’s voice swelled with pride.

He had an extraordinary talent for this!

This crew could get their hands on powerful, highly destructive bombs, but while his hand-made explosive packs weren’t as deadly, their strength was in their subtlety!

The raw materials were easier to obtain, and they were significantly safer to handle!

As long as you hid them well, you wouldn’t have to worry about the police finding them, thus lowering the risk of exposure.

"Good. I’ll have someone send you some more supplies. Make a few more, and make them as powerful as you can.

When the time comes, I’ll have my men coordinate with you to plant them in multiple locations.

If we’re going to cause trouble, let’s make it big." Six’s sinister voice sent a chill down Dexter Bishop’s spine.

But it only made him more excited!

"No problem, Boss! Are there any particular places you’d like to target?" Dexter Bishop’s expression was also one of excitement. He wished he could get the devices ready right now and plant them in public places.

Then detonate them!

And let those bombs teach those cops a harsh lesson!

Before Dexter Bishop could offer any suggestions, Six’s voice came through the phone.

"Schools, hospitals, kindergartens, nursing homes, banks.

I’ll send you a list of addresses in a bit. I want you to prepare these things for every location on it. I’m going to give those cops a night they’ll never forget." Six’s voice and his words gave Dexter Bishop goosebumps.

"No problem! You can count on me." Dexter Bishop couldn’t help but grin.

’Yes, a boss this crazy is the kind I should be following!’

’What was the point of going it alone before!’

Meanwhile, Heath Hale gave the sketch drawn by Beau to Officer Lee, telling him to run it through the database and see if there were any facial matches.

After running for half an hour, the search returned over a dozen similar-looking individuals.

"These are the people we have left after filtering for gender and age," Officer Lee said as he sent the results to Heath Hale’s phone.

Then, they began the process of elimination.

They contacted the local police departments corresponding to the men’s registered addresses to check on their whereabouts.

Soon, in less than an hour, they received definitive news from ten of the locations.

Those ten men had been at their registered residences for the past few days and hadn’t left. They could be cleared of suspicion.

That left only four people.

Officer Lee looked at the remaining addresses, quickly dialed the local police department for one, and inquired about the subjects.

"Those twin brothers? They went missing years ago. We’ve never been able to find them.

Their parents were about to have them declared legally dead. They also have a younger pair of twin brothers."

"Old Man Dex, the rest have all been planted according to plan," the leader of the group said, walking up to Dexter Bishop and bowing slightly, his tone respectful.

Their plan was to first use a few obvious decoys to distract the cops, then plant the real payloads at the designated locations.

"Excellent. And now, the real fun begins."
