Chapter 135: Chapter 135: How About Using Hypnosis?

The young officer, who had been a bit drowsy, jolted awake when he heard Anne Dawson’s words. "What did you say?"

Seeing that the officer was finally paying attention to her, Anne Dawson’s voice filled with excitement. "I want to report something. We have two more accomplices you haven’t caught! If you want their names, have your superior come see me!"

The young officer, who didn’t know about Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn’s undercover operation, didn’t dare to delay after hearing what Anne Dawson said. He hurried out to find Evan Keller and explain the situation.

Feeling pleased that she had successfully dragged others down with her, Anne Dawson leaned back in her chair with a smug look on her face.

The things these cops had found were enough for them to empty their clips into her.

Since she was going to die anyway, she might as well drag a few more people down with her.

Evan Keller and Sean Hughes strode into the room, while Captain Thorne, who had been with them throughout the operation, stood outside the interrogation room to listen in.

"You’re saying you have two more accomplices out there?" Evan Keller stared skeptically at Anne Dawson, trying to read her expression for any clues.

’Knowing there might be an undercover cop, would someone like Anne Dawson really let two people wander around outside instead of having them regroup?’

’If that were the case, either she trusted those two implicitly, or she was just making wild accusations to drag others down with her.’

The faces of Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn suddenly flashed through Evan Keller’s mind, and an idea occurred to him.

’The two accomplices Anne Dawson mentioned... they couldn’t be Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn, could they?’

Sure enough, the next second, he heard Anne Dawson’s voice. "That’s right, there are two more.

But for providing such important intel, I should get some kind of reward, right?"

Evan Keller raised an eyebrow and asked, "Such as?"

"Buying me a drink, for example. I have this thing, see? I love soft drinks. I have to have one every day. If I go a day without one, my whole body feels awful." Anne Dawson grinned at Evan Keller as she made her request. "Of course, to show my sincerity, I can give you a piece of intel first: they have stamp albums on them, too. And quite a few."

Evan Keller rested his chin on his hand, pondering for a moment before nodding to show he would consider it.

Standing to the side, Sean Hughes was growing anxious but said nothing.

Only after the two of them left the interrogation room did he voice his confusion. "Why did you agree to her request? We both know the two ’accomplices’ she’s talking about are Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn. We don’t need to play along with a drug dealer’s demands."

"Captain Keller probably intends to use this as an opportunity to see if he can catch anyone else," said Captain Thorne, who had been watching the entire exchange from outside.

Sean Hughes smacked his forehead. ’I was in too much of a hurry and completely forgot about that.’

Now, without needing any further explanation from the other two, Sean Hughes understood the real purpose behind Evan Keller’s actions.

’Anne Dawson wouldn’t have made that request for no reason.’

’Maybe it’s some kind of secret code?’

’If she names a specific store or drink, following that lead might lead to an unexpected breakthrough!’

However, Evan Keller felt the more likely scenario was that it would be a very common drink, but with specific requirements for the flavor or quantity.

While analyzing the possibilities, Evan Keller asked Sean Hughes to get Vivian Dunn from her office. Once she arrived, he explained the situation directly and asked her to play along to trick Anne Dawson.

As for Zoe Sawyer?

After completing the arrest, Evan Keller and Sean Hughes didn’t want to drag her into this again.

She was their secret weapon, after all, so she had to be well-protected.

Vivian Dunn, who was in her office doing paperwork, agreed without hesitation after hearing Sean Hughes’s explanation.

Just as she was about to change her clothes and go with him, Sean Hughes stopped her.

"There’s no rush," Sean Hughes explained. "From Anne Dawson’s perspective, it should take us some effort to find you. It shouldn’t happen so quickly.

It’ll be better if you come with us tomorrow."

If they went now, it would be too fast and might make Anne Dawson suspicious.

If it weren’t for that potential contact point, they would have already locked her up and, come Lin’s Memorial Day, sent her and her associates on their way.

For now, they would just let Anne Dawson stew.

Vivian Dunn had no objections. Early the next morning, after arriving at the office, she quickly changed out of her police uniform, messed up her hair, and after making sure she hadn’t missed any details, followed Sean Hughes in to sit across from Anne Dawson.

"So it was you! You’re the one who sent the cops after us!" Vivian Dunn instantly got into character. The moment she saw Anne Dawson, her eyes went wide, and she looked ready to lunge across the table and kill her.

But before she could even rush at Anne Dawson, Sean Hughes pulled her back.

Seeing that Sean Hughes had actually brought the person in, Anne Dawson assumed they had also found the stamp albums that Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn had taken.

It seemed Sean Hughes was just letting Anne Dawson have a look before Evan Keller, playing his part, escorted Vivian Dunn out of the room.

Before leaving, Vivian Dunn didn’t forget to shoot Anne Dawson a look of pure hatred, as if she wanted to skin her alive.

After escorting Vivian out, Evan Keller returned. He knocked on the table in front of Anne Dawson. "Looks like you weren’t lying to us. Go on, what drink do you want? I can approve that for you."

Sure enough, just as Evan Keller had predicted, the drink Anne Dawson requested was a very common one, available in any market.

However, she asked for small bottles, four of them, and specified a particular store.

As she watched Evan Keller and Sean Hughes walk out, Anne Dawson couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.

’Of course she knew these cops would take that note and turn that supermarket upside down.’

’But so what?’

’The supermarket itself was just a smokescreen.’

’As long as they walk out of that supermarket carrying the drinks she wanted, the news that she’s in trouble will be sent to the real boss immediately.’

’By the time the cops find the real hideout, they’ll only be greeted by an empty house.’

Perhaps at the thought of the ugly looks on the officers’ faces, Anne Dawson couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

"Impressive. For a woman who can manage a cult, I really thought she’d broken down. But it turns out she was just waiting to spring this trap on us." Evan Keller tossed his phone onto the table, plopped down into a chair, and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

’Buying drinks?’

’The real goal was to use them to send a message.’

"Our arrest operation wasn’t exactly quiet. We can probably only keep it under wraps for a few more days," Heath Hale said, picking up Anne Dawson’s interrogation report and reading it from top to bottom.

"Someone like her is tight-lipped. Breaking her won’t be easy."

"What about using hypnosis?"
