My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 133: I’ve Got You
Chapter 133: Chapter 133: I’ve Got You
Evan Keller grabbed the bread from the table next to him and shoved it at Sean Hughes and the stranger beside them. Then he stuffed his own mouth with bread in a few quick bites.
’I’m starving. Today was exhausting.’
’I need to get a few bites in so the others can take a break and eat.’
Before the three of them left, Evan Keller didn’t forget to remind Zoe Sawyer to quickly bring Barry Quinn and Monkey back to the station.
They would definitely be deploying a large number of officers to capture Anne Dawson’s group. To prevent her from doing something desperate and unexpected, they had to eliminate any potential danger around Zoe Sawyer immediately—nip it in the bud.
Even if, in Anne’s eyes, Zoe was just a lamb to the slaughter.
Zoe Sawyer didn’t refuse Evan Keller’s kind offer, nodding to show she understood.
As soon as Evan Keller, Sean Hughes, and the stranger left, Zoe Sawyer opened the door and told Barry Quinn and Monkey to pack their clothes and head back to the station.
Vivian Dunn simply went back to her seat and started working.
"Zoe, the nature of this mission has changed, and we don’t need your help for now. Go back and rest. I want a report on my desk tomorrow." Heath Hale looked at Zoe Sawyer, who was about to make a break for it with Beau, and tapped the table, giving her another assignment.
Barry Quinn and Monkey didn’t say anything, instead quietly discussing Zoe Sawyer’s future training plan.
They had previously designed a training regimen specifically for her, but this sudden mission had disrupted their original plans.
Zoe Sawyer wanted to try and bargain for a reprieve, but seeing the look on Barry Quinn and Monkey’s faces—which clearly said, ’If you don’t write it, we start training immediately’—she could only nod silently in acknowledgement.
Meanwhile, Anne Dawson, who had been waiting for a long time without any news, knew something was terribly wrong.
She gave Felix Tate a look, signaling him to follow her upstairs.
"I’m going up to get something. You watch them. We’ll leave directly when it’s time," Anne Dawson instructed in a low voice.
It was impossible for everyone to leave. That would only make those cops intensify their search.
The best way was to have the vast majority of people stay behind while the two of them slipped away early.
That way, even if the rest were caught, it would buy them time.
Felix Tate didn’t question Anne Dawson’s plan. Instead, he asked about something else. "That’s not a problem. The key thing now is, what do we do about those two women?"
"Are we really just going to hand over the goods to them for free?"
At this, a contemptuous smile touched Anne Dawson’s lips. "I’ve already made arrangements for that. You don’t need to worry. Just do as I say."
’Making Felix Tate give Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn a few stamp albums served two purposes. One was to completely implicate them. The other, more important reason, was to use them as scapegoats when necessary.’
’If the police really tracked them here and didn’t find the real leader among the crowd, they would definitely get suspicious.’
’At that point, Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn, who had been by her side this whole time, would make for perfect fall guys.’
’Even if the police later figured out Zoe and Vivian had nothing to do with it, the time that bought her would be more than enough for her and Felix Tate to escape to another safe location.’
’But there was no need to explain all this to Felix Tate. As long as he wasn’t caught and followed her lead, his escape was guaranteed.’
Knowing Anne Dawson already had a plan, Felix Tate hesitated for a moment, then swallowed Howard Irving’s name.
’Forget it,’ he thought. ’My only chance of getting out of here is because of Anne Dawson. It’s hard enough to save myself; I’m powerless to protect anyone else.’
"Thank you for this opportunity, Anne. I’ll take care of what you asked." Felix Tate moved close to Anne Dawson, gave her a kiss on the cheek, and returned to his previous spot to handle things.
The moment Felix Tate left, the smile on Anne Dawson’s face instantly vanished.
’Idiot.’
Anne Dawson unceremoniously wiped her face with her sleeve, her eyes cold. If she didn’t think she might need another fall guy on the road, she wouldn’t have brought Felix Tate along at all.
Time was short, so Anne Dawson didn’t dare to delay. She hurried upstairs to gather some things.
She destroyed what needed to be destroyed and packed what she needed to take.
"Good work. Destroy the surveillance footage first, then head downstairs and wait for instructions to leave," Anne Dawson said, standing at the door of the surveillance room and looking at the group of people inside.
’These people were her second line of defense.’
’She refused to believe it. With so many people in the way, would those cops really come after her first?’
Anne Dawson thought about how she had never shown her face to the police. The others in the building didn’t have phones, so they naturally didn’t have any photos of her. And the only surveillance video that captured her was now being destroyed.
Anne Dawson went over her escape plan and route one more time in her mind. After confirming she hadn’t missed anything, she finally relaxed a little.
Inside the surveillance room, the men looked at each other, their expressions grave.
Although they had their doubts, they didn’t stop what they were doing.
A man in the corner of the room glanced around, then discreetly transferred the video from his computer to a USB drive.
Then, just as the others were about to look over, he quickly unplugged the USB drive and stuffed it into his sock.
Just as Anne Dawson was making her preparations, Evan Keller arrived near the four-story building with a large force, moving at top speed.
They formed a wide perimeter, ensuring no one could escape from any direction.
Because they had confirmed the organization was involved with drugs, Evan Keller had directly requested help from more specialized units.
After confirming the encirclement was complete, Evan Keller began directing his team to advance steadily.
They covered every angle, making sure no one could slip through due to an oversight.
Evan Keller and his team already had a crystal-clear understanding of the guard situation outside the building, thanks to Zoe Sawyer and Vivian Dunn’s descriptions.
Before the guards could even make a sound, a few tranquilizer darts sent them into unconsciousness.
Soon, the entire building was completely surrounded, sealed tight.
Evan Keller stood a short distance away, watching the crowded living room. He pursed his lips. ’Are they all concentrated on the first floor?’
’Isn’t this just like shooting fish in a barrel?!’
"Freeze! Police!"
Evan Keller and his team burst through the front and back doors and smashed through the windows, swapping their tranquilizer guns for pistols.
They had used tranquilizer guns earlier to avoid tipping off their targets, but now, they needed whatever had the most stopping power!
Anne Dawson, who had just come downstairs, saw her expression change drastically. ’How did these cops get here so fast?!’
’How long have those useless fools been in custody? Have they sung already?!’
Anne Dawson, who had been about to sneak out the back door, froze. She made a split-second decision, tossing everything she was carrying under the stairs, messing up her hair with her hands, and hiding herself among a group of terrified women.
"Got you!"
