Chapter 1223: Conception of Online Duel and Promotion Tournament Begins

Besides, no matter how much pressure there is, this isn’t some kind of death game, I won’t die if I lose in the end.

With this mindset, the Life Card Masters participating in the beta test immediately had their enthusiasm boosted by the buffer zone.

They even couldn’t get enough of it, always asking the Exploration Bureau when the second test would start.

Wang Ming explained the general situation of the test to Shen Sui.

Shen Sui rubbed his chin, obviously very satisfied.

“I’m also planning to change the original buffer zone model.”

“Change it? What do you mean?” Wang Ming asked curiously.

“The reason Life Card Duel is popular is because of its competitiveness. No matter how balanced or unbalanced it is, as long as it retains competitive attributes, many people are willing to play it hard, and audiences enjoy watching it too.”

Shen Sui earnestly said to Wang Ming, “That’s why I never approve of actions that ruin the competition.”

“So…” Wang Ming seemed to understand Shen Sui’s intention.

“I utilized the previous buffer zone’s waste, after shrinking the background, to create a dueling platform in different environments.” Shen Sui described to Wang Ming, “Those Life Card Masters who haven’t entered the instance can enter this platform to match up with opponents for a duel.”

“Of course, the opponents you match up with here can only be actual Life Card Masters.” Shen Sui added.

“And then create a ranking and rating system?”

Shen Sui was surprised, “You actually know?”

Wang Ming was speechless, “Do I look very old? I’ve played games too, you know?”

Shen Sui laughed awkwardly, rubbed his nose, and then continued, “In this way, won’t the Life Card Masters have the motivation to improve? By then, we can give out season rewards to the top-ranking Life Card Masters.”

Of course!

The main thing is that this way, all the Life Card Masters can match their opponents and duel “online” through the Dueling Device without leaving home.

No need to go out every day to gather at various places for duels.

Of course, offline dueling still has special advantages that this type of duel does not.

For instance, when having an offline duel, if you encounter an opponent using an Underworld deck, you can still summon your fists.

But in the buffer zone, it’s not possible to engage in such a direct brawl.

Wang Ming seemed to be swayed by the future depicted by Shen Sui.

“This definitely has potential.” Wang Ming thought, rubbing his chin.

With rankings and rewards, these Life Card Masters have more motivation to grind Life Cards in the buffer zone dungeons.

Under Shen Sui’s intentional adjustments, the probability of getting Life Cards from dungeons is much higher than the efficiency of Soul Cards in the Soul Card World.

“Alright, let’s get back on track.” Wang Ming said with a smile.

Shen Sui was here for the Promotion Tournament duel.

“Your first opponent is Wang Zhendao.” Wang Ming said to Shen Sui, “Soon, you two will take the elevator straight up.”

In the Exploration Bureau, there is an elevator that goes directly to the aerial dueling platform.

When the dueling platform is docked beside it, duelists can reach the dueling platform by taking the elevator.

Besides that, the aerial dueling platform prohibits any aircraft other than authorized helicopters from docking.

“So why choose the elevator to go up the platform in the end?” Shen Sui had long wanted to gripe about this.

The last time he attended Tang Lili’s concert, he went up with Alice using this elevator.

Clearly an aerial dueling platform that never lands, but you need an elevator to go up and down, it always feels a bit off.

“Don’t you think it’s cool?” Wang Ming said with a smile.

Cool…

For a moment, Shen Sui didn’t know what to say.

Wang Zhendao is a man in his thirties, a very cheerful man.

Seeing Shen Sui, he laughed heartily and came over to greet him.

“I often hear Tan Song talk about you, didn’t expect to really have a duel with you one day.” Wang Zhendao laughed, shaking hands with Shen Sui.

“To be honest, I’m actually a fan of yours.”

Shen Sui replied, “You’re the senior here.”

“On the dueling stage, there’s only strength and weakness, no seniority.” Wang Zhendao said straightforwardly.

Wang Ming interrupted the two’s small talk, “This duel will be broadcast nationwide, do you two have any objections?”

Previously, the Exploration Bureau had already informed Shen Sui.

After the reform, all Ranking and Promotion Tournaments would be broadcast live on the official website.

This is to allow everyone to watch and supervise the Life Card Masters’ ranking and promotion.

Rank affects the Exploration Bureau’s assignment of instance difficulty for them.

Dungeons are directly related to world safety.

The people of the real world should know what kind of people are protecting them in the instances.

Of course, ordinary people’s ranking and promotion tournaments won’t attract much attention.

But Shen Sui is different.

As the world champion, known as the “God of Age” by fans, his popularity in this world has never waned.

His ninth-tier promotion tournament naturally draws a lot of attention.

That day, Wang Ming’s biggest headache wasn’t the new buffer zone beta test, nor maintaining order at Shen Sui’s duel site.

But maintaining the official website server.

Because too many people flooded in in a short time, it directly crashed the server.

Luckily, this issue was solved before Shen Sui arrived.

As the elevator operated, the group soared straight into the clouds.

Heading directly to the aerial dueling platform docked mid-air.

Compared to the glamorous cuteness of the recent cat idol concert, the dueling platform now is much simpler.

To prevent both duelists from being affected by external factors, no audience is arranged here.

Not even close friends and family are allowed to be brought in.

Wang Ming, as the head of the Modu Exploration Bureau, took on the role of referee on site.

Before the official duel began, Wang Ming reviewed and confirmed both decks.

Everything proceeded according to protocol, meticulously.

Only then can Shen Sui, under everyone’s watch, rightfully become the youngest ninth-tier Life Card Master in history.

After confirming no mistakes, Wang Ming handed the decks back to both parties, “Alright, you can enter the venue and prepare.”

Shen Sui quickly stood in his position, looking at Wang Zhendao opposite him.

The two exchanged smiles.

With Wang Ming’s command, the two almost simultaneously activated the dueling device on their hands.

“Duel! Unfold!”

As the Duel Realm unfolded, a turn card started rotating in the air.

The first move belonged to Wang Zhendao.

Shen Sui regretted it privately.

This time he brought a special victory deck centered around the Spiritual Savior.

If possible, he’d still like to pursue an FTK (First Turn Kill).

Moreover, if Wang Zhendao performs something extravagant in his first turn, Shen Sui would also have to consider how to deal with it.

Fortunately, thanks to Alice’s various forms, Shen Sui is never short on the ability to clear the field.

In no time, Wang Zhendao began his turn.

“My turn! Activate the effect of the Spell Card [Plague Doctor’s Death Bell] in my hand to Special Summon [Plague Doctor Delorgia] from my deck.”

Wang Zhendao played a Spell Card directly from his hand.

“Right at this moment!” Shen Sui caught the timing, drawing a card from his hand, “When you activate a Spell Card effect, activate the effect of my Follower Card [Magic-guided Battleship Dawn] in my hand, to Special Summon it to the field.”

The flagship of Pirate Queen Alice, the Magic-guided Battleship Dawn, appeared on Shen Sui’s summons.

Seeing the Dawn appear on Shen Sui’s field, Wang Zhendao was slightly taken aback, then heard Shen Sui continue to say:

“According to the Dawn’s effect, I place three Spell Cards from my deck under its card. After that, each time the opponent uses a Spell Card effect, the Dawn’s Spirit Value increases by 500.”

A Follower with infinitely growing Spirit Value?

Wang Zhendao immediately became vigilant.

Is this to prevent him from quickly deploying with Spell Cards?

If Shen Sui knew his thoughts, he would undoubtedly laugh and say he’s overthinking it.

The Dawn has no resistance, infinite growth is just a gimmick, as long as Wang Zhendao has any card with a leaving-the-field effect, it can be easily dealt with.

The reason Shen Sui brought it is for its negative effect.

The Dawn’s Spirit Value must trigger every time it rises by 1000 points, requiring Shen Sui to select a Spell Card from his deck to place under it.

This card is used to streamline the deck before drawing the Nuclear Explosion Cleaning Technique.
