Chapter 279: Journey to the Imperial Capital
With everything settled, Nova could finally focus on his upcoming journey to the Imperial Kingdom.
This was the main event he needed to prepare for, and since he would be staying there for a long time, he first needed to settle his parents here.
Time passed swiftly, and the day Nova would finally leave Vaunis for the Imperial Kingdom arrived.
Only ten days remained before the Secret Realm opened. Meanwhile, a new announcement was made stating that the reward ceremony for the Empire’s Grand Youth Tournament would be held on the same day as the meeting of the Racial Emperors.
Originally, the ceremony had been planned for an earlier date, which was one of the reasons Nova and his wives had spent more time in Vaunis. Now, with only ten days left before the Secret Realm opened, there was little time to waste.
During those days, Nova continued training and spending time with his family. He also settled into his new mansion in the capital.
Although it wasn’t as large as Frost Mansion, it was still spacious, and many servants and maids had been assigned to serve his family. Edward handled his new position efficiently, prepared to take on whatever responsibilities came with it.
However, he didn’t need to do much beyond managing his affairs and enjoying a comfortable life. He could now focus on training and becoming stronger.
Nova left Hybrid One and Hybrid Two with his parents to serve as their bodyguards. They would also provide his parents with a way to enter the System Space whenever they wanted to meet Nova or train inside it.
He also left Hybrid Three and Hybrid Four at Theodore’s mansion for protection. Meanwhile, Alpha and Gamma were sent to Frostholme to guard Rieka’s grandfather and protect their tribe.
During this period, Nova hunted down two more Level 1 Emperors from the Eclipse Order who were roaming around near Vaunis. They appeared to be investigating something, though Nova couldn’t understand what they were looking for.
When he attempted to interrogate them, he discovered that they had Soul-Devouring Seals. The moment they tried to reveal anything, the seals would activate.
Nova had no choice but to kill them and turn them into Deadborns. Alpha and Gamma then absorbed the two new Deadborns, strengthening themselves further.
Since the two Emperors had been ordinary humans rather than hybrids, Nova didn’t add them to the Hybrid Squad.
With that, his legion gained two more Emperor Realm powerhouses.
However, the incident made Nova realize that something was suspicious. The Eclipse Order’s members had returned to the vicinity of Vaunis for a reason, and he couldn’t afford to take any chances.
As a result, he increased the security around his family.
As for Korr’s discussion with Leonis, nothing particularly significant had come of it. They had mainly discussed the Eclipse Order’s attacks and possible countermeasures, as Korr’s kingdom had also been attacked, much like Vaunis.
He had wanted to determine whether the attacks shared any common patterns. However, he hadn’t discovered anything useful.
Meanwhile, Alaric had contacted the person who had given him the order to frame Nova. Unfortunately, Nova couldn’t identify that individual. The person had concealed both his face and voice, and Alaric had addressed him only as My Lord.
Since Nova couldn’t learn anything more, he decided to keep his Deadborn hidden in Alaric’s shadow and continue monitoring him.
What surprised Nova was learning that Alaric would also be travelling to the Imperial Capital.
This meant Nova might finally discover the identity of the person behind the scheme. There was a high possibility that the individual belonged to the Everhart family.
Nova had a few people in mind, but he wasn’t certain enough to draw any conclusions. For the time being, he decided to leave Alaric alive and continue observing him.
With all the preparations complete, Nova and his family would be leaving Vaunis in a few hours.
As far as the capital’s residents knew, Nova had already departed for the Imperial Capital, Everhart City, five days ago, since the journey by carriage would take at least that long.
Nova had been offered a royal carriage for the journey. He had left the capital five days earlier, at least publicly, without even requesting a coachman. Meanwhile, he had spent those days at his mansion and inside the System Space, enjoying more time with his family.
Once he was ready to leave, he would open a spatial rift and reach the Imperial Capital in mere seconds. However, he intended to emerge far beyond the capital’s vicinity to avoid anyone discovering his secret.
While Nova spent his time in the System Space and his mansion, one of his Deadborns rode the royal carriage toward the Imperial Kingdom in his place.
Inside the System Space...
BOOM!
Nova stopped Bai Chen’s attack with one hand, generating a powerful force that swept through the surrounding area.
"Hmm, that was good. You’re ready now," Nova said with a smile.
"Hahaha! Finally!" Bai Chen exclaimed, overjoyed. "This old one thanks Junior Brother Nova for your time. And I’m sorry again that you had to delay your journey because of me."
"Didn’t I tell you it’s fine? Besides, because of you, I got to spend more time with my parents and stay in Vaunis a little longer," Nova replied with a chuckle.
Standing before Nova, Bai Chen had grown considerably stronger thanks to his help. The shorty had now reached Level 2,200, placing him at the peak of the Low King Realm.
"This old one wouldn’t have done what he did if he hadn’t been drunk," Bai Chen muttered with a gloomy expression.
After Nova had requested Albert to release Bai Chen, the latter should have been freed that very day. However, after drinking heavily, Bai Chen had gotten into a fight with two recruits who called him shorty and insulted his mother.
He had beaten them brutally, resulting in his imprisonment once again. He was only released yesterday. Nova couldn’t do much about the situation, as Bai Chen himself had been at fault.
After his release, Nova brought him into the System Space, revealed some of his secrets, and arranged for him to train.
Just as he had done for his wives and parents, Nova had collected several powerful demonic beasts from the Abyssal Entrance Forest. These beasts had helped Bai Chen grow considerably stronger.
Nova had done all this because Bai Chen had helped him in the past and was like a brother to him. However, there was another reason behind his actions: Nova’s personal motto was to return goodwill a hundredfold and repay enmity a thousandfold.
"Alright... Now you’re ready. Let’s go."
With that, Nova left the System Space and returned to the mansion’s hall, where all his women, Edward, and Jenna were waiting.
"Let’s go. We’re ready to leave," Nova announced.
Everyone nodded. Nova had already explained everything to Edward and Jenna, including how they could meet him whenever they wanted.
Theodore wasn’t present, as he was at the Royal Palace, but that didn’t matter. He could meet his daughter whenever he wished as well.
With that, Nova opened a large spatial rift and stepped through it alongside Rieka, Asia, Nyxara, Velena, and Bai Chen. Liya remained inside the System Space.
The rift opened near the borders of Everhart City. Of course, Nova’s concealment formation worked perfectly, preventing anyone from sensing the spatial fluctuations caused by his arrival.
After all, numerous powerful figures were already present in the Imperial Capital, and the last thing Nova wanted was for anyone to discover his ability to travel through space.
Nova turned around and saw the royal carriage waiting behind them. He stored it in his inventory, as they would be flying from here.
He then turned toward Nyxara and Velena.
"You two should return to the System Space. I don’t want anyone discovering your identities until I find a suitable treasure that prevents others from seeing through your human disguises."
