Chapter 109: Family Order
"Young Lord!" Arthur performed a respectful bow, his movements far more precise than those of the guards at the entrance.
It was obvious that this butler could not be compared to people who had been raised at the border and only hurriedly put together under Elena’s command.
"Reporting to the young Lord, the reason I’ve visited today is simple."
Arthur did not mention the argument at all. Instead, he chose to explain the purpose of his visit.
"Your father has sent me to deliver his order." He pointed at the letter in his hands and, after lowering his head, began to read.
"I, Earl Sol of the Dawn Kingdom, hereby command that my son, Aurelius Sol, come to the Imperial City and the Sol family within thirty days."
It was only a single sentence. At the bottom of the letter was an insignia of a sun, which Aurelius recognized as the Sol family’s emblem.
Though he had never doubted it, he had now confirmed that this was indeed a letter from his father.
At the same time, he finally understood why Elena had been so furious.
Visiting the Imperial City.
This sounded simple but was actually a complicated matter.
At the very least, Aurelius had only done so during national holidays and for certain matters. Never before had it been so urgent.
Yes. Given the nobles’ usual methods and the distance between the two cities, a notice of one month was urgent.
Glancing at Elena, whose fury had returned to her face, Aurelius paused briefly before asking another question.
"How come it’s so urgent?"
"Could it be that my father has chosen to take his head off and is looking for a worthy successor?"
Aurelius shook his head, outright refusing.
"Then he is looking for the wrong person. I’d rather stay in Blood Sun City than go to that damned place."
"In the Imperial Capital, everywhere you walk, you’ll meet a noble or someone of high status. Here, there’s no one who can order me around."
While speaking, Aurelius found a nearby chair and sat down carelessly, placing one leg on top of the other.
His expression remained the same throughout the process. His actions practically screamed:
Even if you give me the title of an Earl, I won’t leave this place! I am the King of Blood Sun City. Why would I go to the Imperial City and get bullied?
Seeing his reaction, both Elena, who wanted him to refuse, and Arthur were left speechless.
This guy... was too unambitious.
Moreover, they both knew Aurelius’ routine full well.
If it hadn’t been for the occasion, it was likely he would have said that Blood Sun City had more beautiful women, right?
Faced with Elena’s earlier rejection and subsequent outburst, Arthur had managed to remain utterly calm.
Yet after just a few of Aurelius’ sentences, he found himself unable to retain his composure.
He truly had no way to argue against that.
Unfortunately for both him and Aurelius, however, he had to find a way even if he couldn’t.
"Young Lord, please don’t put me in a difficult situation." Arthur smiled wryly.
"This is the order of your father. You should know best that it makes no sense to reject me. I have no power to change his decision."
Faced with these words, Aurelius waved his hand dismissively once more.
"It doesn’t matter. My father is so busy in the capital. I doubt he has any time to pay attention to me. I’m sure his invitation was merely an afterthought. Isn’t it simply about attending a banquet, finding another noble lady, or some kind of celebration?"
"Uncle Arthur, you don’t have to worry. He will likely forget everything soon. When that day comes, he will have no time to think about me."
Aurelius maintained his arrogant expression, fully displaying the attitude of a spoiled playboy who did nothing but seduce women, drink, and play.
Even Elena, who originally wanted to help him, had the urge to punch him in the face.
Arthur even more so.
Yet after staring at Aurelius for several more seconds, his tense hands relaxed.
He let out a heavy breath and spoke up.
"Young Lord is wrong. Although I don’t know the exact reason behind your father’s decision, I know that bringing you to the capital is of the highest priority."
Arthur hesitated briefly before continuing.
"I heard that it’s related to the inheritance of the Vow Knight Class. Only people like the young Lord, who possess the pure bloodline of the Sol family, have been invited."
His voice was solemn.
The content of his words was even more so.
Although Aurelius had never lived with the Sol family for an extended period of time, he understood the value they placed on the Vow Knight Class.
It was an Elite Class, the only one Aurelius had heard of before obtaining Arcanist from the Player Panel.
Although since then, he had gotten his hands on the Exclusive Class Creator Sub-Class and had seen Selene advance toward a never-before-heard-of Class, this didn’t mean that Elite Classes were common.
From the fact that it had been enough to establish an Earl family, one of the most powerful forces in Dawn Kingdom, one could see its value.
Aurelius immediately understood.
There was no way to refuse the offer.
Whether he wanted to or not, he would have to visit the Imperial Capital. Otherwise, his father would likely arrive at Blood Sun City and drag him away by force.
With that thought, Aurelius glanced toward his mother, who was still seething with anger.
Then, he looked back at Arthur, who had been waiting for his answer.
After a brief pause, he nodded.
"Alright. You can tell my father that I will be there."
As his voice spread through the room, Elena and Arthur had opposite reactions.
The former seemed to want to say something, perhaps to convince him to refuse.
As for the latter, he breathed a sigh of relief, happy to have convinced his unruly young Lord.
