My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World
Chapter 107: Motivation & Promises
It took some time for the wild crowd to calm down.
Only after several minutes, and several bruises on World_Builder’s face, did the Players’ strange antics finally end.
Aurelius watched the scene with a smile.
He not only enjoyed watching World_Builder meet his demise, but was also happy because of their personal grievances.
After all, he had not forgotten the guide this person had made, asking everyone to dress up as women and try to seduce him.
Fortunately, the Nova Roma Game had saved Aurelius, making everyone’s appearance match the real world.
Otherwise, just thinking that the gentle TheorryMaster69 beside him might actually have been a muscular, hairy man made Aurelius shudder.
Organizing his thoughts, Aurelius gave the Players a few more seconds to calm down.
Then, he looked around.
"I can tell you all that the winner of this competition will be rewarded extremely well. Perhaps even beyond your expectations. Even..."
Aurelius appeared hesitant. It was only after a little while that he finally gave in to the Players’ expectant gazes.
"I can see that you’re all ordinary people. Although you have some special abilities, that alone is not enough to make a living in this world. I might have an opportunity for the winner to become an Awakener..."
The moment Aurelius finished speaking, silence fell over the room.
Half a second later—cheers.
The room erupted with excitement.
Had these words come from another NPC, these Players might have wondered whether it was merely a trick.
However, when they came from Aurelius, they fully trusted him.
Not only because of his Hidden NPC identity and the trust they had built, but also because of something else...
They knew very well that he possessed a Rare Sun Knight Class! After all, the "Aurelius’ Shop" window was currently floating in their field of vision.
His promise was likely related to that.
Immediately, the Players’ minds wandered to the possibilities of the future.
The smartest among them turned toward the window.
The first to make a move was not TheoryMaster69, nor the smart ListRanker, who had analyzed countless NPCs.
Instead, it was World_Builder once again.
He stared at the shop window for only a few moments before shouting.
"Brother! Give me 5 Healing Potions!"
"And 2 Stamina-Recovering Potions! Add 2 Aura-Concealing Potions!"
World_Builder then hesitated for a brief second. In the end, he gritted his teeth.
"Also, give me today’s Gacha Potion too!"
Before he could even finish speaking, several vials landed right in front of him. Each contained a different-colored Potion.
World_Builder’s heart couldn’t help but race with excitement when he saw them.
But the next moment, that smile faded.
He glanced at the EXP on his Player Panel.
It was once again close to 0.
The Experience he had managed to accumulate over the past few days had been emptied in an instant!
Recalling the torture he had gone through at Professor Anna’s hands to obtain them, only for them to disappear in the blink of an eye, he nearly burst into tears.
Unfortunately for him, no one paid attention to him.
Since he had made the first move, everyone else followed.
"2 Healing Potions!"
"1 Gacha Potion!"
"1 Stamina-Recovering Potion!"
One order after another was placed, and hundreds of Potions spread through the room in the blink of an eye.
The smartest Players chose items that could help them obtain more materials. As for the rest, they chose to gamble with Gacha Potions.
Either way, the result was the same.
Watching the EXP in his Player Panel soar in exchange for a few useless low-level Potions, Aurelius couldn’t help but smile.
--
It took quite a while before the sell-off came to an end.
Although most Players wanted to stay, whether to get closer to Aurelius or to make content and become famous through him, they knew that winning the competition was far more important.
Even World_Builder, who had originally planned to bring Aurelius to the eastern district, no longer mentioned it. Of course, it was impossible to know whether this was because he was serious about the competition or because the dangerous looks from the female Players had scared him.
No matter what, Aurelius was soon the only one left in the entire room.
When he climbed the stairs and returned to his own room, he looked at the bath and was about to order the maids to undress him before he stepped in.
Yet when he looked at the empty room around him, with no one but himself inside, he shook his head with a wry smile.
’It’s only been a few days since I awakened my memories, yet I’ve already become used to the degenerate noble life,’ he chuckled.
’Unfortunately, it’s difficult to enjoy such a life as an Awakener. Ultimately, Blood Sun City is a little too small. Even if I want to stay, I’ll have to leave sooner or later.’
Aurelius understood that the city was not as simple as it seemed on the surface.
The mysterious Homer and Professor Anna, the woman suspected of being the Sun Church’s Priestess, had already proved this.
Yet at the same time, Aurelius was not an ordinary Awakener either.
Whether it was because of the Player Panel or his status as a bastard son, he had many things he needed to hide.
Although no one had said anything yet, it was only a matter of time before someone noticed that something was wrong with him.
For example, to justify his trip to the northern border, Aurelius had told his mother that he would stay with one of his classmates.
Once or twice was fine. If it happened again and again, people would realize that something was wrong.
More importantly...
The alluring figure of a woman couldn’t help but surface in Aurelius’ mind. Her graceful figure and captivating smile, both enough to tug the heartstrings of every man.
Yet despite this image, Aurelius didn’t feel any lust at all.
He could still feel the pain coursing through his body, as well as the feeling of being on the verge of death and struggling to survive.
Everything was fresh on his mind.
"Amanda..." Aurelius muttered the name under his breath, his eyes narrowing as he entered the bath and closed his eyes.
