Chapter 1615 - 1614: All Bite
Watching as Samara flung herself straight into the already fighting Camilla and Nicoletta, I couldn’t help but sigh and sink further into the pillow chair, seeking out the comfort that came with such a soft ’haven’ that I was all too familiar with at this point.
Every passing day saw my five pups slowly getting bigger and stronger, and as a result their play fighting began to slip precariously into the territory of being ’real’ fighting, which carried real consequences for them all.
At first I had almost pulled my hair out as I fretted over each of them since they sported all kinds of bite marks, claw marks, aching muscles and so much more, most of which I needed to comb over them to find since they weren’t capable of such ’advanced’ communication yet.
Now though… after it had happened so many times and Mother just waved it off as ’the usual’, I let it happen and cleaned up afterwards with a bit of tired obligation, though I also had to admit that seeing all five of them go from flailing about to actually landing good and sometimes precise strikes…
I shouldn’t be feeling proud about seeing Samara swinging a rather ’nasty’ haymaker right at Camilla’s head, nor should I be proud that the larger and by far more combative pup simply caught the swing and flung Samara around, but… damnit I was proud of them.
Those three in particular loved getting into free for alls that lasted so damn long, and having to watch from afar was a rather… intriguing situation for me because on the one hand this was literally classified as child abuse back in my old world, and yet…
“Oh, they’re throwing some great punches. Get her Camilla! Right! Use the..! That works too!”
The very supportive and unbothered arrival of Mom spurred those three on by quite a lot, resulting in an immediate boost in enthusiastic attacks that made me grimace whenever I saw one of them get hit rather hard.
Yet having their little brains scrambled around just seemed to be beneficial for them rather than detrimental, and with assurances from Mom, Mother, Lady Kio, the Sultana, the Empress and even Lady D’Arcon – as well as Kavya – I just had to accept that this was fine.
And on that other hand I had to admit that it was very entertaining to watch, especially since they were otherwise so adorable what with their fluffy ears and tails that only got fluffier the longer they lived.
Right now Nicoletta was gnawing on Camilla’s leg while Samara swung high and low whenever she could, going after the oldest first while occasionally sneaking in some hits on Nicoletta, much to the chagrin of the rather ’helpful’ thirdborn.
“And hello~ to you too~!”
Flopping down on the other pillow and immediately tossing Astra into the air, Mom grinned at her and enjoyed the laughter that came from my youngest, her pinkish red eyes glowing with warmth as she was sent flying into the air before being caught again by her Grandmom.
Zariah was quick to scamper onto my lap and curl into a ball, wanting nothing to do with the three that were fighting and certainly not caring for being tossed around like she was nothing, so she grabbed ahold of my dress and was clinging to me while trying not to look like she was terrified.
All of her ’courage’ must have been used in the formation of Camilla, because there was no other explanation for why she was as skittish as she was, nor was there a reason that even Astra seemed to be able to handle herself while she just kept to herself.
Of course I was just saying that since three of the five turned out to be little fledgling warriors, while Astra herself was unique thanks to her possessing Lust Mana already, something that was already being manifested in how she dealt with her siblings.
She was the only one who never had that many scrapes or bruises thanks to her being able to just stare at her siblings and have them back off with a smile on their face; sometimes she got feisty herself or sometimes one of the three pups accidentally hit her, but otherwise she was always able to be out of conflict.
She wasn’t out of trouble though since she was the reason that the three were currently fighting, even if that reason was long gone now and it had escalated into something more; they had been bickering over who could be the one to join Astra in my arms when I walked them around the house, and she had gone ahead and pointed at both Camilla and Nicoletta.
That made them both turn towards the other and start fighting, while Samara just watched from the side and gave Astra a look that was a mixture of ’hurt’ and a glare for not being one of the ones who got chosen.
Now none of them were walking around the house since they wanted to fight instead, and it was why I was lounging on my chair instead of doing anything else; I needed to keep watch and make sure it didn’t go to far, but…
“Please don’t throw her so high… and also, don’t encourage them like that…”
Mom just smirked at me but kept quiet, not giving Camilla another tip that would result in a rather clean hit on one of her siblings; it was the small things in life I had become accustomed to appreciating, it would seem…
Listening to the three of them snarling and growling as they descended even further into this ’fight to the death’ that they were determined to have, I sighed again and stroked Zariah’s ears, enjoying the calmer pup that just clung to me like a ’normal’ baby should.
A less interesting baby, sure, but a normal, reliable baby that was here to cuddle with me and not flex her claws at her siblings just because she could… or make perfect ’puppy’ eyes that disarmed practically everyone thanks to the ’unnatural’ powers that coursed through her veins.
Just my normal little pup that loved to cuddle quietly with me whenever she could… while watching her three older siblings attempt to tear one another apart for reasons they had likely already forgotten.
