Chapter 1613 1612: Siblings
“No, it should be something refined, elegant… something that like… exudes power, y’know? My Mom’s right; she’s not JUST Royalty, she’s DOUBLE Royalty. You don’t name someone who’s DOUBLE Royalty something simple like Jenny.”
Anput was glowering at Leone, who was currently looking rather exhausted – like she was the one who had just endured great physical stress – as she rubbed her temples and muttered “Jenny is a perfectly refined and elegant name.”
“No, Jenny is a nickname for someone named Jennifer, which is slightly refined and very suitable as a name. For someone who is only ‘just’ Royalty and not DOUBLE Royalty.”
“If you emphasize double one more time-“
Anput gave me a very smug grin as she said “I just have to, don’t I~? I mean, you might not understand since our pups are only just Royalty, but this little one right here is DOUBLE-“, which made me reach over and clamp a very cold hand over her perpetually hot mouth.
“Shut up. Leone, more names?”
My regal lover gave me a thankful smile and nodded a few times, looking away from the still smugly grinning Anput and glancing at the others, who all watched from afar with bemused expressions; Lady Kio was practically glowing with pride as she looked at her daughter, though that pride was swiftly swung over to my Mother, who just ignored her.
“Eleanor? That’s a refined name… though perhaps a bit too close to my own? Regina? No, I knew a Regina and she was very spoiled and arrogant… though…”
Her quiet murmuring made Anput squirm a little before she just decided to bite my fingers, something that would have once made me release her immediately because… obviously… but after having pups I just gave her a dry look.
Another nip made me relent though, and that was when Anput declared “I’ve decided! Gabriella! Or Gabrielle. Either works.”, causing Leone to pause before she let out a reluctant sigh, saying “I hate that you can actually come up with a good name like this…”
“I shall make sure to ‘repay’ you properly later, when my hips don’t feel like jelly and I’m not loopy from all the potions, Healing Magic and adrenaline~! Gabrielle! Little Gabi, Bri, Elle~! Any of those works for you~!”
Peppering the pale baby’s head with kisses, Anput held her close and enjoyed this moment for as long as she could before she yawned, prompting her to look up and say “Well, you all can go have dinner or something. Just get out and let me be, hm?”
With that she looked back down towards Gabrielle and continued to pamper her healthy baby, staring at her with love and tenderness that only seemed to grow with every single passing second.
We all filtered out with an agreement that someone would be back in ten minutes to just check in, though the moment we were out I was swept away as Kavya informed me of the destruction that the pups had caused in my absence.
Even with Mother feeding them and being there for them they all just seemed extremely ‘angry’ and depressed at my prolonged absence, so I traded spots with Mother and let her go cook while I spent a fair amount of time pampering my own babies.
It took a long while but eventually they had stopped crying and growling at me, flopping down and going straight to sleep since airing their grievances had worn them out, which in turn allowed me to gather them up and flop down as well.
I had to do it again the next day when Anput came in with Gabrielle, because all of my pups – especially Samara – could smell that their Mom’s scent was engrained into that baby, but mine wasn’t anywhere to be found.
And that alone set them off, with Samara showing a very rare – actually, up until this point I was certain she hadn’t ever had a moment like this – desire for me as she wailed in my arms, like Anput daring to have Gabrielle meant everything was ruined and life was over.
All the noise made Gabrielle cry too, creating a little loop that drained all of us rather quickly as we tried to figure out a way to prevent that from happening… which was impossible because Anput wasn’t giving Gabrielle ‘away’ just yet and I had no idea what to do.
So… they just cried.
A whole hell of a lot.
Trying to soothe five wailing pups was damn near impossible, and every single second stretched as far as possible as I did my best, with my only reprieve being the moment they all fell asleep one after another.
That was only for about twenty minutes though, and after they gorged themselves on an excessive amount of milk they began to wail again… only for that time though, which I was thankful for, because if it had continued I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.
Just hearing them like this felt like thousands of needles piercing my heart, and not being able to help them made it worse, especially because it was such an irrational event; Anput even tried to soothe Samara like she used to, but the second oldest just sniffled and barely acknowledged her Mom…
Until Anput shrugged and returned to Gabrielle, causing Samara to immediately lunge forwards and bite Anput’s ankle in rage and frustration, something that – admittedly, even if this made me sound ‘bad’ – made me chuckle as I stared at my confused mate.
That first day of being mixed together was a long one, and the second day went roughly the same, just thankfully with less chorused wailing and instead more sniffling and uncertainty; the third day began to see some nice changes, and of course the fourth day went back to being like the first… because of course it did.
That was our lives for a whole week, until finally the pups finally got accustomed to their half sibling, realizing that she smelt like the other nice lady they liked as well as their own Mom, which started to connect some – a very small amount – of dots in their little heads.
What good that was going to do I don’t know, but it was a start…
