Chapter 1540 - 1539: Clearer Confirmation
Chapter 1540: Chapter 1539: Clearer Confirmation
When we got inside everything got far more hectic right off the bat, with Lady Kio being the one to – unsurprisingly – reignite the earlier conflict against Mother by making a few comments about how spacious the house is and how it’ll be perfect for a whole litter of pups.
I assume it was the tone she took when speaking that really got them at one another’s throats about every single little thing, so although I would prefer to have a peaceful house it would seem that would be impossible with them acting far more like children than as adults with so many years of life already lived.
So although they were being rather… uncivilized as of right now, as the hosts we just went with the simplest option of letting them argue with one another on the far side of the room whilst we settled down for some tea and to have a nice, quiet discussion.
“I do apologize for Kio’s behavior; I thought I might have worked most of this out of her on the way over, but apparently that isn’t the case.”
Accepting the apologies of the Sultana was simple enough, and as the tea made its way around everyone enjoyed the relatively peaceful atmosphere over here for a few moments more before we began to speak about the reason for this visit.
Anput and I were situated beside one another so as to make this easier, while I had Jahi on my right and Leone was on Anput’s left, giving us a unified front as the questions began to come in, though there were relatively few of them.
“When exactly did you all realize this was happening? And who confirmed it?”
The Empress’ question was straight to the point, something I was very happy with as I explained that I had been the one who had showed many signs before hand that were all written off as just one off events, whilst the doctors had come from the Cimeriesa, who I was rather trusting of in regards to something like this.
“It is something that just seems to… creep up on you unexpectedly, at least if you are accustomed to nothing ever happening. It is quite astonishing how it always seems to be written off as something besides a sign of pregnancy until the culmination of morning sickness, but alas…”
Mother Ria gave me a soft smile before turning towards Anput as she added “I also have to wonder though how you just… happened to be so in sync with Kat..? That is quite a stroke of luck, no?”, which was something that no one really had an answer for.
After all there wasn’t some sort of actual reason behind it, nor was there any other idea that any of us could put forwards, but it was reality and we had to accept that it had happened; I was honestly quite relieved that there was going to be someone ’suffering’ alongside me, so whether or not it was by divine intervention or something I was grateful nonetheless.
“The respective parents aren’t yet known, are they? You haven’t discovered them during the time of our journey over here to Arx Amator?”
This time it was Lady Lorelei asking the questions, the ashen haired Noblewoman staring at us somewhat expectantly as she hoped to hear about who was pregnant with whom’s child, yet there was no answer for us to give.
Upon seeing the shaking of our heads, the Vampire nodded and asked “Then would you be willing to let me determine that information? All I would need is a few drops of blood from each of you, preferably with a fair amount of mana within said drops.”
Without hesitation I offered her my arm and pushed some mana into my hand, bringing a small ethereal blue glow out as the Ice Mana made itself known; I was so accustomed to a Vampire asking me for blood it was practically habitual at this point, something that caused Lady Lorelei to raise a brow as she glanced at her daughter.
Leone blushed hard but she just kept quiet, and after seeing her Mother prick my finger to extract a few droplets of blood the younger Vampire bit her lip, clearly yearning for a taste as her own habits made themselves known; every single time my blood was openly in the air it was typically for her to drink, so her thirst was apparent.
Thankfully for her everyone else offered their arms as well, allowing the older Vampire to extract their blood and have those droplets hovering lazily around her arm, her magic keeping them in place; after getting enough from everyone, she began to manipulate them together, mixing some and studying the reaction rather closely.
Being reminded that her abilities as a Vampire was to have access to Blood Magic was definitely something to see in person, even more so when she sported a wry smile and said “Well… Lady Kio isn’t wrong. The blood between you and Anput is reacting a lot, which means…”
My mate grinned widely at that, turning towards me and kissing me on the cheek as if she had tried super hard to make this a reality and not like she had just gotten lucky; either way I just rolled my eyes but leaned against her a little more, wondering if there was any idea about the number.
Sensing that question from me, the older Vampire just shook her head and explained “All this can do is determine whose blood is mixed with whose. Any additional information is going to take a long while to come around. Now…”
Focusing on Anput’s blood, she mixed it with Jahi’s first and studied the reaction before moving onto Leone’s, where she immediately smiled and looked towards her daughter as she said “Congratulations, Leone.”
Even just taking a quick look at the younger Vampire made it clear she was very shocked by this, her ruby red eyes wide and filled with confusion whilst her cheeks and even her neck were flushed red, her surprise showing across her body.
She couldn’t even vocalize her shock properly either as she just stammered a few words here or there, which allowed for Anput to give her a little shake and a grin that was brimming with amusement and joy since she was given that wonderful news.
Now she knew she was going to be both the Mother of Leone’s child as well as the Mom of ours, and the already energetic Jackalkin was practically vibrating as she shook Leone some more before planting a kiss on her cheek only to then spin back around towards me and do the same.
