Chapter 2953: Chapter 983: Dog Murphy Wants to Open the Treasure Chest Too! (Part 3)
Despite Old Evil only entering the game for just over three months, he is already a prominent figure in the otherworldly creatures knowledge section of the forum. After all, not just any player can casually sketch out the skeletal structure of the Wolf People, and Old Evil has his own pursuits while fully enjoying the game.
He hopes to personally dissect all humanoid monsters in this world and eventually write a book in the real world. He has already thought of the name, "Record of Unusual Creature Studies," as a tribute to an online writer he really admires!
Just as Evil Old King’s dissection and research on the Merfolk were progressing well, Babro’s fleet accelerated and reached the destination after about five hours.
Several ships stopped outside the island, and the Bloody Captain along with his First Mate and a few players from the Grey Wolf Army joined Captain Popok in a small boat to land.
This island called "Sifinik" is not small.
There is a lighthouse on the island built by the Half-body Men for navigation, but ever since the completion of the large lighthouse at Charldo Harbor, it has been abandoned. Therefore, the various buildings left on the island are filled with a sense of being forgotten by time.
"Just below the few houses around the lighthouse."
Babro carried his Night Luck Shotgun and told the others:
"Murphy gave me the exact location. He said there’s a treasure hidden here, but to me, it doesn’t look like there’s any treasure."
"Let’s go check it out, surely Sir Morphy wouldn’t lie about such things, right?"
The fully armed Moonlit Wild Wolf said this, and the other Werewolf Players all nodded in agreement. Popok, however, remained very calm and didn’t move. Hmm, having spent his life in the Dark Mountain Range, the captain is somewhat seasick.
The sailing of these past few days has been quite a hardship for him, and now finally on land, he plans to lie on the beach and enjoy Mother Gaia’s "love."
The island showed no signs of activity, was unusually desolate, and naturally had no obstacles to quick movement, allowing the group to approach the abandoned and weathered lighthouse in minutes. The houses around, severely eroded by sea breeze, offered little worth seeing, and with some searching, they discovered a staircase leading underground.
It looked like a basement. Judging by the traces left behind, this underground space was likely excavated less than five years ago.
"This ghost place was abandoned 120 years ago!"
Babro cautiously pulled out his shotgun and told the players:
"When the Armastasha Fleet was hunting me to the ends of the earth, I hid here for a while. I can vouch that there weren’t any underground structures then. Be careful! Murphy’s words are true; something is hidden here."
"Since there’s a treasure, let’s go in and take a look!"
The Moonlit Wild Wolf grinned, grabbed his Creator’s Minion Mechanical Warhammer, charged it up, and smashed open the door leading underground.
He rushed in first, followed by the others.
But the underground space held no hidden dangers or treasure guardians, only a spiral staircase descending quietly. They continued downward until they entered a massive natural cavern, one side opening a hidden entry at sea level, with signs of artificial excavation inside.
Upon seeing this terrain, Babro and Claire immediately understood; this was a stash point for smugglers!
Places like this are abundant on the Ligurian Peninsula’s sea surface. Many smugglers in the city have similar treasure spots, yet this one stands out a bit.
The Moonlit Wild Wolf stepped forward, yanked off the tarps covering the supplies, and swung his warhammer to smash open a wooden box. Several sets of stacked chainmail and steel weapons tumbled out, along with some dwarf-style firearms.
These items made everyone’s eyes go wide.
"Quick! Search around."
At Babro’s command, the others immediately spread out in the cavern space to search and tally. Ten minutes later, everyone gathered again, and the Moonlit Wild Wolf said in a nuanced tone:
"There are hundreds of crates filled with chainmail and weapons alone, along with many dwarf-standard firearms and Massive Ammo."
"There’s also a batch of drugs in the depths of the cave."
Claire added:
"Based on specs of one set of armor and one weapon per person, these goods could easily arm 30,000 people. With some conservation, it’s enough to supply an army’s short-term consumption. I discovered this on the crates."
She handed over some labels to Babro, who took them and looked, puzzled:
"Makdin Trading Company? Do you remember any major smugglers in Charldo Harbor using this name?"
"No! But it could be a cover."
Claire whispered:
"To store so many sensitive items here, the company backing this must be formidable. In Charldo Harbor, they could be said to have the place under their thumb."
"Murphy’s ’friend’ has that much influence? Sending out all these items at once seems more like two thieves divvying up black goods."
The Duke of Blood Fear sneered, saying:
"Bravo! Although it’s unclear who this guy intercepted this shipment from, we must admit it’s quite the good deal. Compared to Murphy’s methods, we pirates seem quite naive."
"But the Transylvania Expeditionary Force doesn’t need these weapons and protective gear; they’re undergoing a different kind of military upgrade than the Continent. These items don’t interest them."
Claire massaged her temples and said:
"Murphy could have allowed others to receive these, yet he specifically named us..."
"He made an offer, Claire."
Babro sighed, saying:
"Brother Fu from Transylvania gives a big gift to the currently weakened Blood Fear Fleet to showcase his power. Compared to Lupa’s empty promises, this guy’s gift is risky as hell. But regrettably, we might truly end up being Murphy’s kept canaries from now on."
