Chapter 2948: Chapter 982: When It Comes to Naval Battles, I’m No Good; When It Comes to Killing, You’re No Good (Serious Face)
In the same black night, as the returning travelers stepped onto their homeland, a special fleet was advancing towards Charldo Harbor along the undulating waves of the Misty Sea.
This fleet consisted of seven ships, three large and four small, all flying the same flag.
It was a flag made of a blood-colored skull and a scimitar, with a bat-shaped emblem representing a certain vampire clan’s battle flag. Given that there was really only one vampire clan making a living in the Misty Sea on the continent, this naturally was the infamous Blood Fear Pirates.
Leading the seven ships was the "Plunderer."
It was the flagship of the Blood Fear Pirates, also the beloved ship of Duke Pablo the Bloodfear. Because of its entirely black body, it was also called the "Black Ship."
Over the past hundred years, this ship has been a symbol of ominousness and disaster in the Misty Sea, and any sea it appeared in would make merchants tremble with fear. The most exaggerated story about this ship happened nearly a hundred years ago when a plunder of the Elf Kingdom’s border led to the Sea Elves’ Armastasha Fleet being fully deployed to pursue the Blood Fear Pirates.
It is said that during that grand hunt within the entire Misty Sea, the Atlantean Shark People of the Large Reef Province assisted. Though the Elf Fleet, capable of controlling storms, broke through many pirate groups, all four attempts to capture the Plunderer ended in failure. The Castilla Elves busily worked for three whole months, only to watch Pablo and his flagship vanish into the depths of the Misty Sea laden with treasures from the elves.
That was the most humiliating defeat in the history of the Armastasha Fleet, counted among the top on the continent since its establishment, and it forged the renown of the "Bloody Captain."
Yet few know, in that epic naval battle a century ago, the Plunderer’s final escape wasn’t entirely due to Captain Pablo’s brilliant command; the ship also paid a heavy price for that victory remembered in history.
It had already been sunk in the third encirclement, during a great storm summoned by the Storm Queen, and Pablo paid a rather terrible price to bring his ship back from the Netherworld.
Now the Black Ship is unquestionably a "Ghost Ship."
Wherever it sails, cold gray sea fog permeates, like a curtain isolating all detection, enveloping both itself and the rest of the fleet. Regardless of the rhythm of the surrounding sea, within this ominous sea fog’s embrace, the entire sea surface is extraordinarily calm, and on the always cold and wet deck, Pablo’s vampire sea dogs stand lazily in various positions, fulfilling their duties in standard "slacking" manner.
To this, the Duke of Blood Fear standing at the helm turns a blind eye.
The behavior of pirates is drastically different from other organizations, with a hierarchy system unique to each ship. Unless in a state of urgent battle or during the tense and exciting division of spoils, the captains rarely interfere with the day-to-day behavior of these guys. As long as they perform their duties, whatever their work attitude, Pablo will only turn a blind eye.
Moreover, at this moment, he has a task more important than lecturing his crew.
"There’s three hours left to our destination, no course deviation yet, but we’re nearing the sea borders of the Elf Kingdom. We must be cautious moving forward."
Beside Pablo, who was clutching the helm, stood the flamboyant First Mate Claire with a compass in hand, confirming the course for her captain. She also held a fine map used by pirates, on which a red X marked Pablo’s destination.
A small island.
Located off the coast of Charldo Harbor, not far from the Castia Elf Kingdom’s border, but its terrain is somewhat peculiar, positioned in a semi-enclosed reef sea. This means that if Pablo’s fleet is trapped inside, the fate awaiting this pirate fleet is bound to be grim.
Given the Castilla Elves’ "emotions" towards the Blood Fear Pirates, the awe-inspiring Armastasha Fleet would never pass up this opportunity.
Although a hundred years have passed, former victories and defeats have turned into legends recited by humans, yet for the elves, such as the Eternal Species, those past events are as fresh as if they happened yesterday. Therefore, that bitter defeat must still be pricking the sensitive pride of the Sea Elves.
Pointy ears have never been anything good.
The various vices of the Shadow Elves are also present in other elves; they just hide them better.
Though Pablo’s face still wore his signature wicked smirk, the fact that the Bloody Captain came to steer the helm personally already indicated his caution and concern.
"I also don’t know what the hell is on that damn island, making Murphy frantically insist I come personally to verify. Heck, my fleet is now practically Transylvania’s navy, just shy of me bowing to Murphy and becoming his godson, yet I haven’t seen a single penny."
Feeling the state of his ship’s navigation, Pablo adjusted the helm to catch the full night wind and cursed:
"I feel like I’ve made a losing deal. If other pirates living in the Misty Sea learn that the great Captain Pablo has become Transylvania’s dog, they’ll definitely laugh their heads off, and pull me out to make fun of at every drink and fight."
