Chapter 2947: Chapter 981: Return of the Departed (Part 3)
"Let His Highness Prince Hu Fu and his General prepare for the solar bombardment... in the worst case, we will use it."
-----------------
"Ah, Charldo Harbor, the scenery in my memory is infinitely beautiful, yet it is stained with too much of the smoke of war. Listen, my city is weeping, but it’s okay, I’ve returned, when it needs me once more."
A nostalgic voice sounded behind the observation window, on the viewing platform of the shuttlecraft silently moving forward in the night, where a Half-body Man with a mechanized cane spoke with deep emotion as if reciting poetry.
As the shuttlecraft descended, the night view of Charldo Harbor became clearer, revealing the war-torn devastation more distinctly. The peace of yesteryears vanished like a shattered illusion.
"I thought we were just going to complete the final echo of the Black Disaster here, but I didn’t expect you to come personally."
Sitting on the chair behind the Half-body Man, the Slave Master, Sarifov, spoke while brewing tea for the guest:
"Before I joined the organization, I heard you were always busy with a great enterprise, and after joining, I realized your busyness was beyond my understanding, as you almost devote every moment to expanding those ancient and intricate learnings.
Leaving your work, which is half-completed, to come here now—isn’t it going to affect your endeavor?
Mr. Scholar."
"It won’t, because this is also part of the plan."
The Half-body Man turned back, revealing a not-so-old face, but the depth of the eyes was like the ocean, a deep pool that would instantly captivate one’s attention.
It definitely wasn’t the look that a young person could possess.
It was like transcending mundane life after seeing through it all, with an immense tolerance that also held a determined resolve towards the goal, making him seem unlike a Half-body Man, at least holding an eccentric soul within that small stature.
"Land in the Port District."
As one of the giants of the Twilight Organization, Mr. Scholar waved a hand and said to the Slave Master:
"I need you to go to Shaldo University’s museum, to retrieve the set of devices I left in Showcase No. 13 of Section A on the third floor. I need them to complete the will extraction for Miss Penny."
"Penny gave everything for our cause, and she deserves the best healing."
The Slave Master said solemnly:
"You told me that beneath Charldo Harbor, in the Creation Land, you could bring her true rebirth."
"Of course, every word I say, every promise I make, will be fulfilled."
The Scholar smiled and said:
"Although it may differ from your understanding of ’perfect revival,’ I assure you, after completing the extraction and transfer of her consciousness, Miss Penny will return to your side in a perfect and pure state.
But there is one thing I require.
During this operation, you must not cause any additional trouble!
I know Mr. Morphy is also in the city, and I know there are many unnecessary grudges between you and him, but I haven’t planned to stand on the opposing side with the Creator God-elect at this time, so please restrain your baseless rage."
"Baseless? Are you saying it’s justified that my faction was wiped out by Murphy?"
The Slave Master said harshly:
"Your stance seems not so steadfast, Mr. Scholar."
"Hatred, hehe, a pointless thing."
The Half-body Man shook his head, speaking in a calm yet indifferent tone:
"From a higher perspective, it’s not hard to see that this hatred is driving you towards a wrong direction, but I have no intention to correct you, nor was I making a request!
You!
Sarifov Shadowblade, if you dare to cause trouble in this operation, dare to waste my precious time, I will bury you right here!"
"Your tone seems a bit too grand, sir."
The Slave Master said coldly:
"We are supposed to be equal, aren’t we? You have no right to stop my revenge..."
"Hmm, actually, I can."
Underneath that gentleman’s hat, the Scholar revealed a subtle smile, he lightly tapped the deck with the mechanized cane, and said:
"Revival, execute the takeover protocol!"
"Command received! Takeover beginning!"
In the stunned gaze of the Slave Master, a cold electronic voice echoed in the shuttlecraft, stripping away his control over the craft. Under the Scholar’s cane, the flyshuttle, in optical stealth, accelerated downwards like a fallen leaf.
In that free-fall induced weightlessness, he said to the Slave Master:
"You guys who love to wield swords and guns don’t understand the true power of this world, just because you told me moments ago that you have fully understood my busy work doesn’t mean you actually know anything about what I’m doing.
You joined Twilight because it could help you realize your ideals, and so did I, but that doesn’t mean our fates should be more intertwined.
Sarifov...
Let me ask you a question."
The Scholar’s left hand lifted, and two fixed Guardian Turrets sprung up from the flyshuttle’s upper deck, targeting crimson light dots onto the Slave Master.
He stared at the Shadow Elves before him, asking in a gentle tone:
"Do you believe in the world-destroying set? Do you long for the arrival of Twilight Moment?"
"Those are two questions."
The Slave Master, still seated on the chair, shook his head and said:
"But... no, I don’t believe. That is not my goal, and I suppose it isn’t yours either."
"Correct answer."
The Scholar laughed once, ceasing the takeover protocol with a wave, returning control of the flyshuttle to the Slave Master, stepping from the viewing platform, and walked onto the secluded land of Charldo Harbor along the descending mechanical escalator.
Upon stepping on the homeland soil that moment, he turned back to the Shadow Elves behind him and said:
"I’ll help you rebuild the faction, I promise, but no causing extra trouble! And now, we are friends."
