My Pervert Sytem

Chapter 189: Promotion Offer

  • Next Chapter

"I came to offer you a permanent promotion, Nyx," Leon stated, his deep voice carrying effortlessly over the quiet room.

The mercenary captain lowered her boots, leaning forward with genuine intrigue. "A promotion? I already run the smuggler’s docks, tall man. What else could you possibly offer me?"

"Legitimacy," Leon answered, pulling a rolled parchment from his dark tailored jacket. He tossed it casually onto the table. "And the entire imperial coastline."

Nyx picked up the parchment, unrolling it with her tanned fingers. Her dark eyes scanned the heavy, official text, widening slightly as she read the terms of the contract.

"You are offering the Blackwater Company the title of Imperial Naval Vanguard," Nyx muttered, her voice losing its usual husky mockery. "Complete immunity from past smuggling charges. Full access to the royal shipyards. And a massive percentage of any Vaelorian spoils we manage to sink."

"The Vaelorian armada is sailing for the capital," Leon confirmed grimly, resting his knuckles on the table. "Ten thousand ships. A hundred thousand augmented soldiers. I need a commander who knows how to fight dirty on the open water. I need someone who can turn our harbor into a graveyard."

The room remained dead silent as the corsairs processed the sheer scale of the impending war. Fighting a few Syndicate thugs in an alleyway was one thing. Taking on the entire Obsidian Kingdom was a suicidal gamble.

Nyx looked up, her gaze shifting from the contract to Leon’s striking features. She licked her scarred lip, a dark, competitive smile slowly spreading across her face.

"Ten thousand ships," the captain repeated softly. "That is a lot of target practice."

A digital interface hummed cheerfully in his vision, projecting a bright pink text box right over the corsair’s messy black hair.

[System Notice: The Pirate’s Temptation]

[The fierce captain is tempted by the wealth, but she needs a personal, highly scandalous incentive to seal the deal. Give her something to fight for.]

[Objective: Lean across the table. Gently brush your thumb against her scarred lip, maintain intense eye contact, and promise her a very private, exclusive reward if she sinks the first Vaelorian dreadnought.]

[Reward: +20 Agility, 650 Shameless Points.]

Leon smirked, welcoming the prompt. The romantic tension with Nyx was a chaotic, thrilling game, and he fully intended to leverage her undeniable attraction to secure the empire’s coastal defenses.

He leaned far across the mahogany table, entirely ignoring the dozens of armed sailors watching his every move.

He reached out, his large hand brushing gently against her jawline. His rough thumb deliberately, softly traced the jagged scar running down her lower lip.

Nyx gasped sharply, her body violently stiffening. The blistering heat of his touch bypassed her tough mercenary exterior completely. Her heart hammered a frantic, desperate rhythm against her ribs. She stared up at his dark, magnetic eyes, completely paralyzed by the sudden, overwhelming wave of breathless submission.

"If you sink the first Vaelorian dreadnought, Nyx," Leon whispered darkly, his voice dropping into a register meant only for her. "I promise you a very private, exclusive reward that no amount of gold could ever buy."

The sheer, scandalous audacity of the public promise scrambled her rational thoughts. A brilliant, furious red flush rapidly painted her tanned cheeks. She swallowed hard, her fingers gripping the edge of the table tightly to prevent herself from leaning forward and crashing her lips against his.

A massive surge of pure speed flooded his nervous system, elevating his reflexes and making his movements even more fluid.

Leon slowly pulled his hand away, stepping back to grant the flustered captain some desperately needed breathing room.

Nyx cleared her throat loudly, desperately trying to rebuild her shattered, predatory composure. She picked up a quill from the table, quickly signing her name at the bottom of the heavy parchment.

"You have a deal, Warden," Nyx announced, her voice trembling slightly before she forced it back to a confident, husky purr. "The Blackwater Company will hold the harbor. We sail at dawn to begin fortifying the coastal choke points."

"Excellent," Leon praised, offering a dark, victorious grin.

Seraphina rolled her violet eyes, letting out a soft, frustrated sigh. She turned on her heel and marched out of the drawing room, clearly annoyed by her warden’s continuous, highly effective romantic diplomacy.

Leon followed his warlord back into the bustling corridors of the estate.

The pieces were finally falling into place. The Chamberlain was dead, the High Priestess was chained in the dark, and the capital defenses were rapidly unifying under the banner of House Sterling.

But as Leon looked out the massive glass windows toward the distant, gray ocean, he knew the hardest part of the war was only just beginning.

The Obsidian King was coming, and Leon was more than ready to show the foreign tyrant exactly why he was the most terrifying monster on the continent.

----

Leon pulled his gaze away from the distant gray ocean visible through the grand windows of the eastern wing. The scent of salt and rain lingered in the drafty corridors. He rolled his thick shoulders, his battle-hardened physique easily shaking off the lingering tension of the corsair negotiations.

He followed the path Seraphina had taken, his boots moving silently across the imported carpets. The silver-haired warlord had not gone far. She was standing in the center of the main atrium, her arms crossed defensively.

A pompous aristocrat wearing excessive layers of ruffled blue velvet was currently blocking her path. The man possessed a weak, unstable magical core, marking him as a low-ranking noble who relied on inherited wealth rather than combat prowess. He was flanked by two nervous-looking private guards.

"Lady Seraphina, you cannot simply declare a martial lockdown of the inner keep," the ruffled aristocrat complained loudly, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceiling. "The Merchant Council requires immediate authorization for the southern trade routes. We demand an audience with the Emperor."

Seraphina narrowed her violet eyes, a dangerous spark of volcanic fire building in her gaze. She was a hairsbreadth away from drawing her broadsword and permanently silencing the annoying politician.

Leon stepped out of the shadows, projecting his heavy, dominating gravity into the open atrium.

The two private guards instantly stepped backward, their hands dropping away from their weapons. They recognized the towering brute who had effortlessly crushed the Chamberlain’s elite phalanx just hours ago.

"The Emperor is resting," Leon stated, his deep voice rolling over the aristocratic fool like a physical weight.

The ruffled noble spun around, his face paling as he looked up at Leon’s striking features. The man swallowed hard, desperately trying to maintain his haughty posture.

"You are just a warden," the politician stammered, pointing a trembling finger. "You hold no official rank in the imperial court. You cannot dictate the schedule of the crown."

Leon did not slow his stride. He walked directly up to the trembling man, closing the distance until his broad chest hovered mere inches away. He did not activate his kinetic armor or summon any magical pressure. He simply stared down at the lesser man with cold, predatory calculation.

"I dictate who breathes in this estate," Leon murmured darkly. "If you ever raise your voice at Lady Seraphina again, I will throw you off the highest balcony in the capital. Do you understand?"

The politician visibly shrank, his knees knocking together. He nodded frantically, backing away so fast he nearly tripped over his own velvet robes. He signaled his guards and scurried toward the front doors without looking back.

Seraphina let out a long, frustrated sigh. She uncrossed her arms, letting her hands fall to her sides.

"We are going to be dealing with those pathetic leeches all week," the warlord grumbled, though a proud smile touched her lips. "They smell blood in the water. They know the political structure is fractured."

A glowing pink box materialized in the air right next to a marble statue of a rearing lion.

[System Notification: The Jealous Lioness]

[Your beautiful commander is stressed by the politics and still annoyed by your pirate flirtations. Remind her who truly holds your attention.]

[Task: Step into her space, trace the edge of her jaw, and tell her she is the only ruler you acknowledge.]

[Reward: +10 Charisma, 300 Shameless Points.]

[Penalty: A localized curse making your hair smell like rotting kelp for three days.]

Leon grinned, embracing the opportunity to soothe her frayed nerves.

He stepped close, gently lifting his hand to trace the delicate line of her jaw. His calloused fingers brushed against her pale skin, sending a warm spark of kinetic friction directly into her nervous system.

Seraphina gasped softly, her violet eyes widening. The volcanic tension draining her energy instantly vanished, replaced by a deep, intoxicating rush of romantic submission.

"You are the only ruler I acknowledge, Seraphina," Leon whispered, his voice vibrating with undeniable sincerity.

The fierce noblewoman melted into his touch, leaning her head against his palm. A brilliant flush painted her cheeks.

[Quest Complete. Rewards Distributed.]

A rush of magnetic charm fortified his presence.

He stepped back, offering her a confident nod before they headed toward the war room to finalize their shadow government.

The capital was theirs, and they had an empire to rebuild before the Obsidian King arrived.
