My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister
Chapter 688 - 461: Yaoyao Is a Little Pervert
They packed up their miscellaneous belongings first and had someone take them downstairs ahead of time.
They had only stayed for a day, but the two sisters had brought a mountain of things. Their housekeeper had packed everything they might need for daily life and brought it over from home.
With most of their things efficiently dealt with, Ningning and Yaoyao were the last ones left to be moved.
Jiangg Ning was the easy part. Her leg wasn’t injured, so she could walk on her own. She wasn’t one to fuss, either. The moment the nurse removed her IV, she eagerly grabbed her phone to make a call.
Tomorrow was the scheduled day for their visit to the detention center, and the matter had been weighing on her mind. She felt she had to call and confirm, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to rest.
Jiangg Yao, on the other hand, was taking it easy, lying on the bed without any intention of moving.
From the moment Chen Yuan came upstairs and entered the room, her eyes were glued to him. She was just short of speaking up to remind him about his promise to carry her downstairs.
"Alright, we’re pretty much packed," Chen Yuan said, glancing at Jiangg Ning on the phone by the window before turning to Yaoyao. "Let’s go, my lady."
A smile immediately touched her lips, and her face lit up as she spread her arms toward Chen Yuan.
"There’s a perfectly good wheelchair, you know. It’ll probably hurt a little if I carry you, since your foot will just be dangling." He looked at Jiangg Yao’s bandaged right foot.
"It’s fine. I can take it."
Resigned, Chen Yuan pursed his lips, bent down slightly, and slid one arm under her knees. He placed his other hand on her back, just above her waist.
He lifted with a gentle effort.
Jiangg Yao’s lips parted in slight surprise. As she enjoyed the weightless sensation of being lifted into the air, she instinctively wrapped her arms tightly around Chen Yuan’s neck and snuggled into his chest as if afraid she might fall.
"How’s that? Okay to go?" Chen Yuan asked.
"I think it’s fine. It doesn’t even hurt. How about you?"
"Are you kidding? I can barely feel a thing. It’s like holding a feather. Yaoyao, you’re seriously way too light."
Chen Yuan wasn’t exaggerating. He really barely felt a thing. The weight was distributed evenly, and his arms weren’t even tense. So he set off at a normal, brisk pace, carrying her in a princess carry.
Jiangg Ning, still on the phone, didn’t forget to walk ahead and push the door open for him.
The afternoon sun was still gentle, streaming through the corridor windows and casting a warm glow over the three of them. Down below, countless white bedsheets were laid out to dry in an open area.
Jiangg Yao’s eyelashes fluttered, as if the bright light was too much for her. She buried her face in Chen Yuan’s chest, snuggling closer to make it easier for him to carry her.
As light shone through the loose weave of her bandages, both Ningning and Yaoyao, dressed in their hospital gowns, seemed to become almost translucent.
A light breeze swept past.
Their long hair flowed freely.
Their shadows flickered across the dappled sunlight beneath the trees.
...
After moving into the private hospital, the two sisters were in much better spirits. It was, without a doubt, an excellent decision.
The hospital was built into a mountainside, surrounded by lush greenery and blessed with excellent air quality.
The grounds were secluded and opulent. Aside from the white symbolic of a medical facility, the landscape was a vibrant green, even featuring a small pond for fishing.
It was a far cry from the noise of the last hospital.
The quiet environment was truly relaxing.
"Mr. Chen, here are your two rooms," the nurse said with a smile after leading them in. "I’ll leave you to get settled. Please let me know if you need anything. A nurse will be by with your dinner later."
As expected of a pricey private hospital, the rooms were well-appointed. Chen Yuan was very satisfied with what he saw.
They weren’t cold and clinical at all; both the color scheme and the furnishings were much cozier.
Except, of course, for the unavoidable smell of disinfectant.
"How long do we have to stay here?" Jiangg Yao asked, propping herself up on the bed where he had set her down.
"They say it takes a hundred days to recover from a major injury. What do you think?"
"That long? You might as well just kill me," she protested, her face scrunching up.
"I’m just kidding. Two weeks at most, provided you cooperate with the doctors. Once they give the all-clear, we can go home for you to recuperate."
"Two weeks is still so long..."
"Just think of it as a vacation. There’s nothing to be done about getting sick."
"What about the game console you promised me?"
"It’ll be delivered in a bit."
While he was talking with Jiangg Yao, Ningning was already unpacking her suitcase. Chen Yuan watched in surprise as she opened it and took out several thick books and a laptop.
Noticing his confused expression, Jiangg Ning simply turned to Yaoyao and asked:
"Which of these two rooms do you want?"
"I’ll take the one next door, then. You’ve already got your stuff out, and this way I won’t disturb your studying."
"Studying?" Chen Yuan was completely bewildered listening to the sisters’ exchange.
"Have you forgotten I’m studying for my master’s in finance exam? I’ve fallen so far behind lately, and the test is in a month. I need to hurry and catch up on everything," Jiangg Ning said as she took out her books.
"You have an exam, too?"
Chen Yuan walked over to the suitcase to help her get the books out.
"’Too’?"
"My department has midterms in a little over a month. I need to do some serious cramming, or it’ll be a huge pain if I fail... Ugh."
"Oh, that’s great!" Ningning’s eyes lit up. "There’s a desk here. We can make a study plan and encourage each other."
A radiant smile bloomed on her face.
Then, she looked over at Jiangg Yao.
Jiangg Yao immediately shook her head vigorously.
"Count me out. I don’t have any exams."
"But you can practice the piano. You can’t just do nothing all day."
"What do you mean, ’do nothing’? I haven’t even finished exploring the open world yet! Do you know how many quests I have to do? How many materials I have to grind for? And during this ’vacation,’ Wan and I have to beat *Don’t Starve*—we even added the latest mod, you know? She really needs me."
