Chapter 164 109: Just Fell in Love with the Same Person, Part 2
“Oh, you’re being naughty, aren’t you?”
“And what are you going to do about it if I am?”
“I’ll smack your palm!”
“Oh, I’m so scared, Jiangg~ Please don’t hit me…”
First thing in the morning, Chen Yuan was showing even more enthusiasm than usual, but Jiangg Ning had no idea why.
She just thought that being on vacation together was causing their relationship to advance by leaps and bounds.
But in reality…
…in a corner she couldn’t see, someone was silently shouldering a great burden…
‘So noble!’
‘Nothing more needs to be said.’
…
After getting ready, it was time to head out.
Chen Yuan held a jacket in his hand. He was wearing a simple, solid-colored shirt, black wide-leg pants, and a pair of white skate shoes. At a glance, he was radiating an unstoppable youthful energy.
Combined with his face, which was a mix of boyishness and maturity…
Honestly, Jiangg Ning just stared, stunned for a second or two, suddenly feeling the real age gap between them…
It took her a while to compose herself before she finally took some clothes out of her suitcase and changed.
In front of the mirror, Jiangg Ning studied her reflection for a long time.
‘She hadn’t worn clothes this youthful in a very, very long time!’
Her long-sleeved knit top was light blue. The design of the collar and cuffs was a mix of bold and delicate details, making it look both relaxed and lively. She paired it with white, Japanese-style casual pants and a pair of sneakers.
She had styled her blow-dried hair into wispy bangs with a small pair of scissors and a flat iron, and she had even taken off the dangling earrings she usually wore every day.
Including the expensive bracelet on her wrist.
Head to toe, besides the ring Chen Yuan had given her, she wore no other jewelry.
This simple look was a total throwback to her high school days. That was the only time she ever dressed like this; by the time she got to college, her aesthetic had shifted toward a more mature, sophisticated style.
Without a doubt, in this outfit, no one would think she and Chen Yuan were a mismatch. In fact, they would probably assume they were a college couple of the same age.
“I’m ready! Let’s go!”
Jiangg Ning stood in front of Chen Yuan and made an energetic gesture, pointing toward the hotel exit. A shy smile was on her cheeks, and her eyes were filled with endless anticipation.
“Let’s go!”
“Huh!? Wait, I forgot one more thing.”
They had both reached the door when Jiangg Ning suddenly turned back. She retrieved two boxes from a hidden compartment in her suitcase.
“What’s this?”
“You’ll know when you open it.”
Jiangg Ning took the items out of the boxes. It was two pairs of sunglasses!
She carefully stood on her tiptoes to put a pair on Chen Yuan, then put the other pair on herself. The world through their eyes suddenly grew darker.
Shoulder to shoulder, they stood before the mirror.
“Don’t we look cool?”
“Yeah, and we look way more fashionable. Like real tourists now.”
“They match us so well. Okay… I can’t resist. I have to take a picture.”
Jiangg Ning suddenly felt the urge to capture this moment. She took out her phone, aimed it at her and Chen Yuan’s reflection in the mirror, and with a CLICK, snapped a photo.
“So good-looking…” she sighed. “Why don’t you strike another pose? Put your arm around me?”
“Okay!”
Chen Yuan wrapped one arm around her neck and held up his other hand, flashing a peace sign. The curve of his lips was pronounced—you could say he was beaming. In the mirror’s reflection, Jiangg Ning stood holding her phone, her cheeks also blushing shyly, as she joined him in the classic, old-school pose.
「In that moment.」
It seemed as if this perfectly matched couple had truly won everything in the world.
…
Jiangg Ning and Chen Yuan left the hotel together. As they went down the elevator, they were so lost in their joy that they forgot they could take the express walkway. They just walked and talked, only remembering when they were already out on the street.
‘That’s right!’
The rental company had already delivered the car. They were supposed to drive to the Lost Water World for a visit, so how did they end up on the street?
They both laughed at how scatterbrained the other was; neither of them had remembered.
Hand in hand, they turned around and headed for the parking garage. It took them a couple of laps to even find the entrance. After getting the key, which the hotel had been holding for them, they drove the car out.
Since it was just the two of them and Chen Yuan didn’t want to be too flashy, he had rented a small, cute Mini—a convertible model.
Usually, Jiangg Ning was the one who drove, but this time, Chen Yuan planned to be the driver.
With her sitting beside him, Chen Yuan felt a little stiff while driving, but he still managed to get the car onto the street without a hitch!
He opened the convertible top. A cool breeze swept over them, lifting the lazy strands of hair on his forehead. The air was humid and carried the salty tang of the sea. Towering trees lined both sides of the street, lush and green, with all sorts of exotic plants he’d never seen in the north. His mood was as relaxed as the cool weather.
He turned on the stereo, and upbeat music flowed from the Harman Kardon speakers.
Beside him, Jiangg Ning hummed softly along with the song. She leaned her seat back slightly, unable to hide the smile on her exquisite face.
“In 500 meters, turn right. Caution: traffic camera ahead—”
The navigation system’s repeated prompt sounded. They were only seven kilometers away from the Lost Aquarium.
Chen Yuan focused on the steering wheel with intense concentration. Only after he turned the corner and the road suddenly opened up, with the surrounding traffic thinning out, did he have a free moment to glance over at his beautiful, youthful girlfriend.
“What… why are you suddenly looking at me?”
“No reason. I just really wanted to look at you.”
Turning his head back to the road, Chen Yuan suddenly felt like grinning like an idiot for a while.
‘Life? *This* is what you call life!’
Jiangg Ning was especially lively today, as if her more youthful outfit had actually made her younger. When they reached the entrance to the aquarium, she grabbed Chen Yuan’s hand, bought the tickets, and was about to head inside happily.
