Chapter 159 107: Chen Yuan Finally Discovers the Fun
The scenery was reflected in Chen Yuan’s eyes. He pressed pause and got up, walking over to Jiangg Yao.
“Babe, come watch this movie. It’s a really well-made documentary. I watched it back in high school, but I never managed to finish it. We’ve got time now, so it’s perfect.”
He reached out to touch Jiangg Yao, but the next second…
As his hand landed on her shoulder… Jiangg Yao abruptly shoved it away, scooting deeper into the sofa and burying her head even further.
Chen Yuan froze, his expression stiffening.
“Babe?” he called out in a low voice.
“…”
Still no response.
At that moment, although he was completely bewildered, Chen Yuan started to realize something. ‘My girlfriend might be angry! No wonder she’s been so quiet.’
He tried shaking Yaoyao’s shoulder again.
SMACK—
His hand was slapped away.
He shook her shoulder.
SMACK—
His hand was slapped away…
After this repeated seven or eight times, Chen Yuan actually found it kind of fun. But just as the corners of his mouth started to lift into a smirk, Jiangg Yao’s utterly aggrieved whimpering reached his ears.
“Don’t… don’t touch me!”
“What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well? Or are you just in a bad mood?”
Chen Yuan asked with concern, bending down to peer at her. The sight shocked him. He quickly noticed that the hair at her temples was damp with tears, her cheeks were flushed from crying, and glistening droplets still clung to her eyelashes, yet to fall.
“Why are you crying? Are you really not feeling well?” Chen Yuan was dumbfounded, completely unable to understand what was happening.
He leaned in closer and nuzzled his cheek against Yaoyao’s hot face, comforting her in a low voice.
“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Let me see…”
“I won’t let you see~ I won’t let you! I hate you, you’re so annoying… Waaah~”
She nudged Chen Yuan with her shoulder while pouting, her voice so incredibly soft and sweet it could melt your heart.
“Hey now, what’s all this, babe? Weren’t you perfectly fine a moment ago?”
Chen Yuan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He sat on the edge of the sofa and reached out to hug her.
But as anyone with experience knows, an angry girlfriend is harder to wrangle than a greased pig.
She absolutely refused to let Chen Yuan hug her, constantly shaking her shoulders and squirming around, letting out little whimpers of displeasure. It took a tremendous amount of effort for Chen Yuan to finally, barely manage to get his arms around her.
“Weren’t you happy just a second ago? And now you’re suddenly crying. Let me see.”
Turning Jiangg Yao’s shoulders to face him, Chen Yuan gazed seriously at her face and only then discovered her eyes were completely rimmed with red.
Jiangg Yao met his gaze for a few seconds before stubbornly turning her head away.
Chen Yuan finally realized she might be genuinely angry. He paused for a second, then began to coax her in a soft, gentle voice.
The coaxing did work. Girls are emotional creatures, after all. At first, she pouted stubbornly, with an air of letting whatever he said go in one ear and out the other. But after a few more words from Chen Yuan, she looked over at him through her blurry, tear-filled eyes.
She just stared at him.
He coaxed her with a few more sentences, saying things that made even himself blush. He used every cringey sweet-nothing he had ever picked up from who-knows-where in his life—the kind that would make him break out in goosebumps from sheer embarrassment if he ever recalled them.
Love makes people childish.
But this routine actually worked!
When Chen Yuan hugged Jiangg Yao again, she didn’t resist. Instead, she leaned lightly into his embrace.
She was soft and warm in his arms, her hair tickling his neck.
‘Why does hugging her feel a bit different all of a sudden?’ Chen Yuan wondered. His girlfriend’s mood had shifted way too quickly. Just as his brain was about to connect the dots…
Jiangg Yao lifted her face, her warm breath ghosting over his neck.
She leaned closer and closer.
“Ah!”
Chen Yuan’s expression instantly became a sight to behold. His brows shot up as he cried out in pain.
Because the Jiangg Yao who had leaned in didn’t kiss him tenderly. Instead, she bit down hard on the spot just above his collarbone!
Her pearly-white teeth were surprisingly sharp, and she kept applying pressure.
She was unleashing all the pent-up grievances from the entire day. Like a docile, fluffy bunny that had suddenly seen red, her lunge was incredibly fierce, nearly pinning Chen Yuan to the sofa.
Chen Yuan instinctively wanted to push her away, but the hand hovering over her head never came down.
Instead, he gently stroked her head.
He finally understood. The person before him wasn’t Ningning at all—it was Yaoyao.
Jiangg Yao’s previous warning seemed to echo in his ears, so clearly.
…
“You have to be able to tell Ningning and Yaoyao apart, okay? Don’t get them mixed up…”
…
‘I can tell them apart now!’
This much force was definitely the work of the little green tea, Yaoyao. Her expression and her state were a dead giveaway, too.
The ever-dignified Teacher Jiangg Ning would never act this wild.
A moment later.
Having apparently bitten to her heart’s content and vented enough of her feelings, Jiangg Yao released her jaw. Her red eyes stared at Chen Yuan as she bit her moist lip, the grievance in her gaze plain to see.
On his shoulder was the “proof of her jealousy”—a bite mark, red and already turning blue.
“Hiss—that hurts like hell.”
Chen Yuan’s face scrunched up in pain as he spoke in a pathetic, low voice.
“Serves you right.”
“I was wrong, Yaoyao. I didn’t notice you were upset earlier. If I had known, I would’ve come over to comfort you. You’re not angry anymore, are you?”
“…”
Jiangg Yao ignored him and flopped down on the sofa.
“Look, it’s even bleeding…”
“No way! I swear I didn’t bite that hard, I was holding back,” Jiangg Yao shot up, pulling his shoulder toward her to look while she spoke, appearing panicked. “Let me see, is your skin really that delicate?”
When she got a clear look, there was obviously no blood at all.
Before she could realize Chen Yuan was tricking her, he had already pulled her into his arms, her legs draped over his.
