Chapter 158 107: Chen Yuan Finally Finds the Fun
CLICK—
The hotel door clicked shut. Yaoyao stood in the entryway, forcing herself not to look at Chen Yuan. A sour feeling churned in her heart, astringent and bitter like an unripe fruit. Her entire being radiated resistance and resentment.
“You’re back? What did you get to drink? Did you get it with ice, Ningning? Back in Lanjing, you always wanted your milk tea hot, but I guess you’re back to drinking it iced here. I was just thinking how stuffy it is in here. It must be the humidity.”
Chen Yuan had absolutely no idea that he was facing Yaoyao.
The affectionate “Ningning” had slipped out so naturally, and he failed to notice the distinct twitch of Yaoyao’s eyelid right after he said it.
Her hand, wrapped around the drink, also tightened its grip.
Right then, Yaoyao looked like the vengeful spirit of a wife who had just discovered her husband’s affair but didn’t dare to expose him. She was so angry she could have fainted, so frustrated she could have died!
She was a powder keg, ready to explode at the slightest spark.
But not only did Chen Yuan fail to notice she was about to explode, he was practically playing with a lighter right next to her.
Smoke was practically coming out of Yaoyao’s ears…
SLAM—
Without a word, Yaoyao walked over, pulled one of the cups from the bag, and placed it on Chen Yuan’s desk. Then, she strode over to the sofa.
And plopped herself down!
She tugged at her tight clothes.
‘Un-freaking-believable. Why does my damn sister have such a small butt? This is so tight, it’s killing me! Aaaargh!!!’
She took a deep breath, cursing inwardly through gritted teeth.
Yaoyao pulled a straw from its wrapper and, with a violent POK!, plunged it into the cup as if she had a deep-seated grudge against the coconut milk. She then began to suck furiously on the straw. Within seconds, her cheeks were puffed out, making her look just like a little hamster.
‘Oh, it has pulp? (CHOMP CHOMP). It’s actually pretty good. (CHOMP CHOMP).’
As she was thinking this, a single drop of pure white coconut milk trickled from the corner of her mouth.
“Delicious!” Chen Yuan exclaimed after taking a sip of his coconut milk. He gave Yaoyao a thumbs-up. As he looked at her, sitting on the sofa with the cold demeanor of an assassin, he studied her for a few seconds and suddenly noticed something…
‘Huh? Why do Ningning’s boobs look bigger again? Am I imagining things?’
…
‘Delicious my ass!’
‘You’d probably call a bowl of poison delicious if Ningning served it to you, you stupid man! Who are all those sweet nothings for, anyway?’
Yaoyao cursed inwardly, shooting Chen Yuan a vicious glare.
“Oh, really? Well, if it’s so good, you should drink more of it! I’ll order it for you every day from now on. How about eight times a day? You won’t even need to drink water. Wouldn’t that be just perfect?” Yaoyao said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, a smile plastered on her face that didn’t reach her eyes.
“Yeah, that sounds great!” Chen Yuan grinned like an idiot, thinking how sweet and thoughtful his girlfriend was.
The most infuriating thing in the world is when you’re being sarcastic and the other person thinks you’re paying them a compliment!
Hearing Chen Yuan’s reply, Yaoyao’s fists clenched tight.
She had traveled all this way from Lanjing to Sanya, a long and lonely journey all by herself. Then she’d had to brave the rain just to drag her luggage to the hotel, only to be left alone in the room for ages. Nobody cared.
‘My sister doesn’t care, my boyfriend doesn’t care… Nobody cares about me!’
Yaoyao, who had been doted on her entire life, was experiencing the feeling of being completely ignored for the first time. The sense of being wronged was already overwhelming.
Chen Yuan’s failure to sense her mood only made Yaoyao even angrier.
A whirlwind of emotions churned within her, and she nearly lost the battle to hold back her tears.
The corners of her mouth drooped. She shot a quick glance at Chen Yuan, then looked away, fighting to hold back tears. Turning her head, she lay down on the sofa, pouting as she curled into a ball and wiped at her eyes, her back turned to him.
She hugged herself as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face, feeling utterly heartbroken.
“I’m so bored, and there’s nothing to do. I was hoping we could check out the beach after I got here today. I slept the whole flight, so I’m wide awake, but now it’s raining and we can’t go… I hate having nothing to do,” Chen Yuan said, leaning back in his chair.
“…”
“How about we watch a movie? Or we could go for a walk? Nah, forget it—I just showered, and if we go out our clothes will just get soaked. Let’s just find a movie to watch. I remember there’s a documentary I’ve been meaning to see.”
“…”
He’d asked two questions and gotten no reply. Puzzled, Chen Yuan glanced over at Yaoyao.
He saw her lying there quietly, looking like she was just playing on her phone.
Chen Yuan looked away, not thinking much of it. He just figured she was engrossed in something on her screen and went back to looking for the documentary he’d bookmarked.
In the silent room,
The only sound in the silent room was the faint clicking of a mouse.
The sofa silently absorbed each hot tear that fell, two dark, round stains spreading across its surface. The deep creases in the fabric near her shoulders only emphasized Yaoyao’s sorrow.
She didn’t answer Chen Yuan, stubbornly thinking to herself, ‘I’m just going to ignore him.’
But when Chen Yuan actually fell silent and began searching for the video, her mood soured even more. ‘Why isn’t he coming over here to comfort me?!’
THUD—
She tossed her phone to the side. The muffled thud was jarringly loud.
The deliberate noise succeeded in catching Chen Yuan’s attention. He turned to look, but when he didn’t spot anything unusual, he went back to searching for the documentary.
He even muttered to himself, “I remember putting it in my bookmarks.”
Another two minutes passed.
THUMP THUMP—
CRACK—
Yaoyao kicked the sofa, producing an earth-shattering sound.
Thankfully, the sofa was sturdy enough that even a powerful kick from a girl in her twenties couldn’t move it an inch.
She was acting just like a pouting child trying to get attention.
“Found it!”
Chen Yuan’s face lit up as he clicked on the video.
Majestic, sweeping music immediately poured from the computer’s speakers. On the screen, beautiful scenery of the Earth’s surface appeared: mountains, lakes, rainforests, deserts…
