My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 487: Netherworld Sect Elder
The sound was accompanied by a howling gale, laced with mournful whimpers.
Honestly, anyone who wasn’t brave enough would be terrified. At best, they would piss their pants; at worst, they would be scared to death.
Chu Feng directly released his Divine Soul Power, casting it forward to investigate the situation.
The moment his Divine Soul Power spread out, everything ahead was laid bare, revealed in perfect clarity.
He almost had to laugh.
A few Martial Cultivators were positioned up ahead. Their strength wasn’t impressive; they were just intentionally dressed up to look frightening. They were using some special technique to project their voices, making them sound exceptionally eerie.
In reality, it was just people in costumes.
Chu Feng sneered inwardly. ‘Instead of acting like normal people, they have to put on this whole spooky charade. They’re insane.’
“Cut the spooky act. Who do you think you’re scaring? A three-year-old? I’m Chu Feng, invited by your Netherworld Sect’s Elder. Have them all come out,” Chu Feng said coolly.
His voice wasn’t loud, but the Martial Cultivators ahead jolted when they heard him.
It was as if the voice had rung out right beside their ears, making their eardrums throb in pain.
“You’re Venerable Chu Feng?” At that moment, someone recognized Chu Feng and gasped, sounding utterly astonished.
“Yes, that’s me. Now, hurry and inform your Elders. Tell them to come out and speak with me,” Chu Feng said.
“Right away, Venerable Chu Feng! Please wait a moment, I’ll go report at once,” a hurried voice called back.
Using his Divine Soul, Chu Feng saw someone quickly depart, rushing off to deliver the message.
‘These people must have something wrong with their heads. Instead of acting normal, they have to put on this ghostly charade. They’re complete morons.’ Chu Feng was rendered speechless by them.
‘If they want to worship the Netherworld so badly, they should just go there already. Why put on a show like this, scaring everyone away from the area?’
At this time, Chu Feng was wearing the robes of a Celestial Sword Sect disciple. His clothes, white as snow, projected an aura completely different from modern apparel, giving him a more transcendent air.
However, Chu Feng’s hair was still short; he wasn’t wearing a topknot crown like in historical dramas. Had he done so, his aura would have been even more impressive.
Chu Feng, however, was indifferent to such matters. He didn’t give it much thought. As long as he was comfortable and happy, there was no need to pursue or obsess over anything else.
After about five minutes, one of the Netherworld Sect’s Elders finally appeared.
This was the man who had invited Chu Feng at the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony.
“Venerable Chu Feng, I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival! I was starting to think you weren’t going to come,” the man boomed with laughter, looking genuinely overjoyed.
“I was delayed by some family matters. So, Netherworld Elder, what important business brings me here?” Chu Feng asked. He already had a good idea of the reason, but it had yet to be confirmed.
“That’s… not so easy to explain out here. Come, let’s go inside first. The answers you seek are in there,” the Elder from the Netherworld Sect said with a smile.
“Hmph. Fine. Let’s see what sort of tricks you people are playing and why you wanted me here,” Chu Feng said indifferently.
He spoke with complete composure, showing no trace of fear.
‘If anyone dared to plot against him, Chu Feng wouldn’t show any mercy. He would kill them on the spot.’
“Hahaha! Venerable Chu Feng, your strength is so immense. As expected, you are truly extraordinary. This presence of yours is not something an ordinary person could possess,” the Netherworld Elder said with a laugh.
He had personally witnessed Chu Feng in action that day, fighting dozens of experts at the Martial Arts Peak Realm all by himself.
Crucially, he had even slain more than a dozen of them. That battle record had stunned everyone present and sent shockwaves through the entire Martial Arts Realm.
“Netherworld Elder, you’re praising me to the heavens. I’m not that strong. As you know, there’s always someone better out there,” Chu Feng said with a faint smile.
Although he knew he was incredibly powerful, practically invincible in fact, he also knew when to be modest.
After all, the hardest steel is the first to break. Pride comes before a fall, and such falls were often devastating.
The two of them then walked forward for about ten minutes before arriving in front of a building.
The Elder pressed a spot on a stone lion statue to the side, and a passageway instantly appeared where the door should have been.
The passageway led straight underground. It had an entrance at the top and another at the bottom.
‘What did this symbolize? What deeper meaning did it hold? The answer was self-evident.’
Chu Feng was, to put it mildly, rendered speechless by these people.
‘Take those people from Great Snow Mountain, for instance. With nothing better to do, they built their Sect on a snow-capped peak thousands of meters high, making everything inconvenient.’
‘And now the Netherworld Sect, building their Sect underground. Are they not even dead yet, and already their hearts yearn for the grave?’
But Chu Feng didn’t voice any of this. It was their preference, after all. He couldn’t say a thing.
