My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 517: He Really Can Walk As If Flying
“Is that true?” Yang Shaokang asked in surprise.
Su Changyuan gave a heavy nod.
If even a single word was false, he was willing to be struck down by lightning.
‘Could a Divine Doctor this young really exist in this world?’
As this unbelievable event unfolded before his very eyes, a storm of emotions churned within Yang Shaokang.
Reason told him this was impossible.
In his quest for a cure, Yang Shaokang had consulted doctors of both traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
Even if he hadn’t eaten pork, he’d seen a pig run. He knew a thing or two about how doctors diagnosed patients.
But none of their methods even remotely resembled what Mu Lin was doing.
Mu Lin was standing more than a meter away. He hadn’t taken his pulse or used any medical equipment.
With nothing but his own two eyes, he had described his condition down to the last detail.
Little did Yang Shaokang know that Mu Lin didn’t even need to make physical contact with a patient to diagnose them.
With a mere extension of his spiritual sense, he could obtain all the information he needed.
“If you have no further questions, Mr. Yang, we can begin the treatment.”
Mu Lin had seen that dumbfounded expression on countless faces before.
The patients he’d cured had all reacted the exact same way.
Watching Mu Lin pull a set of silver needles from his pocket, Yang Shaokang asked, “Are you going to treat me with acupuncture?”
Mu Lin nodded. “In your case, Mr. Yang, treatment with medication would be quite slow.”
“I plan to use these needles to stimulate the various acupoints on your body, which will enhance the vitality of your cells and meridians.”
“At the same time, I’ll use another method to repair your damaged internal organs. In about ten-odd minutes, your condition should show significant improvement.”
“And in half an hour, I guarantee you’ll be able to move about as freely as a normal person.”
Hearing the sheer confidence in Mu Lin’s voice, Yang Shaokang felt an inexplicable surge of hope himself.
‘It was as if, in just a little while, he could truly be reborn.’
“Keep on bragging,” Zhang Xiaobei sneered, his expression a caricature of scorn. “Why don’t you just say you’ll have him flying in half an hour?”
“And if I can get Mr. Yang moving nimbly as ever, what then?” Mu Lin retorted, turning his head.
“Then I’ll add another fifty million to the bet and make it an even one hundred million!” Zhang Xiaobei shouted without thinking.
“But if he can’t ‘fly,’ you’ll not only have to crawl all the way back to the city from here, but you’ll also have to kowtow to my father and me a hundred times!”
“Deal.”
Seeing Mu Lin agree so readily, Zhang Kun felt a faint pang of unease.
Beside him, however, Zhang Xiaobei still looked as smug and unconcerned as ever.
Never mind that Mu Lin had described Yang Shaokang’s condition down to the last detail; Zhang Xiaobei was certain there was a trick.
‘Su Changyuan must have fed him the information.’
Zhang Xiaobei, judging others by his own standards, suspected Su Changyuan wasn’t as noble as he appeared on the surface.
‘He probably saw that Yang Shaokang was on his last legs and decided to squeeze one last benefit out of him.’
‘He pretends to find some famous doctor and uses a bunch of hocus-pocus to keep Yang Shaokang on the hook.’
‘Then, in the end, he’ll leverage the “favor” to demand a cut of Yang Shaokang’s shares.’
‘That has to be it. I’m sure of it.’
Meanwhile, Mu Lin had carefully inserted more than a dozen silver needles into Yang Shaokang’s key acupoints.
As he worked, Mu Lin explained the function of each acupoint.
“For years, you’ve worked so hard you’ve neglected to eat or sleep. Your internal organs couldn’t take the strain, and it has gradually destroyed your health.”
“Especially your heart and blood vessels. Your vessels have slowly become congested and blocked, preventing your heart from smoothly supplying blood to your other organs. That’s why you’ve ended up with such limited mobility.”
“As for your legs, you were in a car accident, weren’t you? You left the hospital to go back to work before the bones had fully healed. Though your legs seemed to have recovered, the bones never fully mended. Over time, your entire body has become riddled with ailments.”
After hearing this, Yang Shaokang was utterly convinced that Mu Lin was a true Divine Doctor.
Just as Mu Lin had said, his body was a wreck.
Some of these conditions, Su Changyuan knew about; others, only Yang Shaokang himself was aware of.
The fact that Mu Lin could speak of secret ailments that even Su Changyuan didn’t know about was a clear testament to his incredible medical skill.
Overjoyed, Yang Shaokang asked eagerly, “Mr. Mu, can you really cure all of my ailments?”
“Of course.”
Mu Lin looked up. “I can cure everything, Mr. Yang. But you have to promise me one thing.”
“No problem! Don’t say one—I’d agree to ten!” Yang Shaokang replied without a second thought.
“Ten is a bit of an exaggeration. One will be enough.”
Mu Lin spoke, enunciating each word carefully. “After I cure you, I need your guarantee that no one, no matter who, will be allowed to replace Shopkeeper Su.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t guarantee that.”
“Hm?!”
Mu Lin was stunned.
‘Su Changyuan is completely loyal to Yang Shaokang, and Yang Shaokang was just willing to bend his own principles for him. Why wouldn’t he agree to this?’
Yang Shaokang said with a bitter smile, “Mr. Mu, please don’t misunderstand. The reason I can’t make that promise is because I can’t do it alone.”
Thanks to Zhang Kun’s instigation and manipulation, almost all the shareholders at Mingyang Pharmaceutical had sided with him.
To protect Su Changyuan’s position as Shopkeeper, Yang Shaokang would have to take back control of the company.
Without absolute control, he naturally couldn’t guarantee Su Changyuan’s protection.
However, there was one thing he could promise.
As long as he was still at the company, he would fight those people to the bitter end.
As long as he was standing, no one would lay a finger on Su Changyuan.
With that assurance, Mu Lin said no more and focused on the treatment.
In addition to using the silver needles to stimulate the meridians and cellular vitality, Mu Lin discreetly infused a portion of Spiritual Qi into Yang Shaokang’s body.
It was a two-pronged approach to accelerate his recovery.
“Impossible! This is absolutely impossible!”
Half an hour later, the Zhang father and son stared as if they were seeing a ghost, their mouths agape, as Yang Shaokang slowly rose from his wheelchair.
Before, not only had Yang Shaokang been immobile, but his face had also been an unhealthy, deathly pale.
Now, not only could he stand up with ease, but that pallor had completely vanished.
A healthy, ruddy glow had returned to his cheeks.
“Mr. Yang, you don’t have to be so cautious. Your body is incredibly healthy right now, maybe even on par with a young man’s,” Mu Lin said with a smile. “If you don’t believe me, try jumping a bit, or even run a couple of laps. I guarantee you’ll move as nimbly as ever.”
“Then… then I’ll give it a try.”
Feeling the encouragement from Mu Lin’s gaze, Yang Shaokang took a deep breath and gave two small hops on the spot.
He felt better than he had in years.
Then, under the astonished gazes of the Zhang father and son, he strode over to the staircase.
He ran up and down the stairs a few times, getting faster with each trip.
He truly was moving as nimbly as ever.
“Time to pay up.” Mu Lin walked over to the dumbfounded Zhang Xiaobei and waved a hand in front of his face.
“What money?” Zhang Xiaobei asked, dazed.
“The wager, of course,” Mu Lin said with a smirk that didn’t reach his eyes. “Mr. Yang is moving as nimbly as ever, running up and down the stairs like the wind. Do you have any further questions?”
“I… I’ll give it to you in a few days,” Zhang Xiaobei stammered.
“You’re not planning to welsh on the bet, are you?” Mu Lin saw right through him.
Zhang Xiaobei shot back, “Don’t you dare make baseless accusations! I’m from a wealthy family. Why would I ever welsh on a bet?”
“If you’re so wealthy, then you can pay me right now.”
Mu Lin pulled out his phone and a bank card. Whether by online payment, bank transfer, or even check—he’d take it.
Cornered, Zhang Xiaobei’s face paled as he hissed, “You’d better not push your luck, or you’ll be sorry!”
“Xiaobei, stop making a scene,” Zhang Kun said, feigning a scolding tone.
He implied that the so-called bet was just a joke and couldn’t be taken seriously.
It was clear from his words that Zhang Kun intended to welsh on the bet.
Yang Shaokang’s face turned cold. “Your son agreed to this bet himself. He even raised the stakes. How could you call that a joke?”
“If the Zhang Family tries to welsh on this, I, Yang Shaokang, will be the first to stand against you!”
“And neither will I!” Su Changyuan stepped forward. “The surveillance cameras in this room also record audio. If you two continue to deny this, the footage will soon be presented as evidence against you in court.”
“Su Changyuan, you’d better be clear about your current situation,” Zhang Kun threatened. “If you people keep pushing us, we’ll just take you down with us.”
“My son and I might not end up well, but don’t think you’ll get off easy, either.”
The online smear campaign and troll army were all the work of the Zhang father and son.
If they kept arguing about the bet, Zhang Kun would completely destroy the Profound Secret Pharmacy.
The pharmacy was the most precious thing to both Yang Shaokang and Su Changyuan.
If they wanted the pharmacy to survive, they had best not push their luck.
“Zhang Kun, have you gone insane?!” Yang Shaokang never thought Zhang Kun would be so reckless.
The pharmacy wasn’t just Yang Shaokang’s pride and joy; it was also one of Mingyang Pharmaceutical’s most important sources of revenue.
Every year, a third of the company’s profits came from the Profound Secret Pharmacy.
