Chapter 516: Chapter 514: The 10 Million Bet

It wasn’t just Su Changyuan who had arrived, but also an unfamiliar young man.

The young man wore a smirk, as if he were mocking the father-son duo.

“If you have a problem, direct it at me. I won’t allow you to harass President Yang!”

Su Changyuan’s face was resolute. “Zhang Kun, we can settle the score between us in private. For now, I must ask you to leave immediately.”

“Dad, I think I hear a dog barking. And it’s a particularly annoying bark.”

Zhang Xiaobei picked at his ear.

Zhang Kun roared with laughter. “My dear son, you heard right. There is indeed a dog yapping away in front of you, and a stray one at that.”

When it came to trading caustic barbs, Su Changyuan was no match for the Zhang family father and son.

He was powerless to make them leave.

Unfortunately, the pair paid him no mind.

Instead, they threatened Su Changyuan with prison and told him to get lost.

If Su Changyuan dared to run his mouth again, he’d be behind bars by tomorrow.

“Interesting. Very interesting. To hear you two talk, one would think you own the prisons, deciding who goes in on a whim.”

A sudden burst of sarcastic clapping reached the ears of the father and son.

“And who the hell are you? How dare you run your mouth here!”

Zhang Kun rebuked.

“This is Mr. Mu Lin. Show some respect.”

Su Changyuan was then reminded of his purpose for coming.

He hadn’t come here to bicker with the Zhang family, but to rely on Mu Lin’s medical skills to cure the gravely ill Yang Shaokang.

“President Yang, Mr. Mu is a Divine Doctor! There’s no illness under the sun that he can’t handle. If he agrees to help, your condition will vanish in a matter of minutes.”

Su Changyuan knelt on one knee, describing the miraculous nature of Mu Lin’s medical skills.

“Him? A Divine Doctor? Su Changyuan, have you gone mad?”

Zhang Xiaobei howled with laughter.

Mu Lin looked even younger than him, twenty-three or twenty-four at most.

‘A young man like that, even if he had studied medicine, would be nothing more than a recent medical school graduate.’

‘In a major hospital, he probably couldn’t even land an internship.’

‘For Su Changyuan to call this guy a Divine Doctor… what could it be if not insanity?’

It wasn’t just the Zhang family father and son who disbelieved Su Changyuan; even Yang Shaokang himself was uncertain.

He knew Su Changyuan wasn’t one to lie.

But no matter how he looked at it, Mu Lin’s age simply didn’t fit the title of “Divine Doctor.”

“Brat, if you’re a Divine Doctor, then I’m Taishang Laojun himself.”

“Get lost! Stop being an eyesore. If you don’t get out of my sight, I’ll have someone throw you out.”

The Zhang family father and son hadn’t come alone for this hostile takeover; they had brought several bodyguards with them.

If they couldn’t make Yang Shaokang yield with words alone, it would be the bodyguards’ turn to act.

Even if it meant using violence, Yang Shaokang would be signing that share transfer agreement.

Mu Lin looked the arrogant Zhang Xiaobei up and down, his tone playful. “I don’t know if you’re Taishang Laojun, but I’m afraid it won’t be long before you’re a ghost in the underworld.”

“You’re courting death!”

Zhang Xiaobei raised his fist to strike.

Completely unafraid, Mu Lin continued, “You two are rotten to the core. Not only are your hearts black, but your bodies are riddled with multiple malignant diseases. I’m afraid you don’t have long for this world.”

“Old Su, I’m tired. Take me back to my room to rest.”

Seeing Mu Lin clash with the Zhang family, Yang Shaokang grew even more certain that this young man was no Divine Doctor.

He no longer had any desire to remain here.

Sensing the distrust in Yang Shaokang’s eyes, Su Changyuan pleaded anxiously, “President Yang, please, just trust me this once. Mr. Mu truly is a Divine Doctor! He can absolutely cure you.”

“I know my own condition. I’ve had so many famous doctors examine me before. Even Elder Mo took a look, and in the end, they were all helpless.”

Yang Shaokang’s expression was grim. “Forget it. Sickness and death are a natural part of life. There’s no need to go to all this trouble.”

“You mustn’t say that! You’re going to live a long and healthy life.”

As Su Changyuan comforted Yang Shaokang, he repeatedly shot meaningful glances at Mu Lin.

He was hoping Mu Lin would say something to boost Yang Shaokang’s confidence in fighting his illness.

Su Changyuan genuinely hoped, from the bottom of his heart, that Yang Shaokang could be freed from his suffering.

Mu Lin smiled. “Mr. Yang, you said yourself that you’ve already been treated by numerous doctors. Since that’s the case, what’s the harm in letting me have a look?”

“Things are already this bad; how much worse could they possibly get? Who knows, my examination might just give you a pleasant surprise.”

Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Yang Shaokang sank into contemplation.

Yang Shaokang was only in his fifties, an age where he should be in his prime.

If there was even a sliver of hope, he didn’t want to die.

‘Su Changyuan has repeatedly called Mu Lin a Divine Doctor,’ he thought. ‘Maybe this impossibly young man truly does have some unique medical expertise.’

“Old Yang,” Zhang Kun chimed in, “Su Changyuan is your most trusted man. He went out of his way to find this ‘young prodigy’ of a doctor for you. If you don’t even let him try, aren’t you implying you suspect Su Changyuan of having ulterior motives?”

“Uncle Yang, you’re always saying we should give young people a chance, right? Even if this kid with the surname Mu can’t cure you, he can at least gain some medical experience by treating you.”

The Zhang father and son played off each other, trying to drive a wedge between Su Changyuan and Yang Shaokang.

Every word they spoke was a thinly veiled curse, wishing for Yang Shaokang’s imminent death.

They implied he might as well be a guinea pig before he died, helping a young man gain some experience.

“That’s enough!”

Su Changyuan snatched a teacup from the coffee table and slammed it to the floor.

Zhang Xiaobei’s voice was grim. “Su Changyuan, are you trying to start something?”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you. We brought bodyguards. If you so much as lay a finger on me, I guarantee they’ll beat you senseless.”

Mu Lin sneered. “Shopkeeper Su, we’re human beings. We should carry ourselves with dignity. There’s no need to get angry with a couple of animals.”

“Who are you calling an animal?”

Zhang Xiaobei pointed a finger at Mu Lin.

Mu Lin smirked. “Whoever answers the call.”

“Alright, kid. If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll never learn who you’re messing with!”

With that, Zhang Xiaobei took out his phone to call the bodyguards outside.

Mu Lin said calmly, “Are you two so certain that I can’t cure Mr. Yang’s illness?”

“Do you really think that question needs an answer?”

Zhang Xiaobei retorted sarcastically.

“Then let’s make a bet.”

Mu Lin held up five fingers. “If I can’t cure Mr. Yang, I’ll be at your mercy.”

“But if I succeed, you’ll have to pay five—”

“Fine, I get it,” Zhang Xiaobei interrupted. “Five hundred thousand, right? That little bit of cash is just a drop in the bucket for my father and me.”

Before Mu Lin could finish, Zhang Xiaobei cut in arrogantly, “If you can’t cure Yang Shaokang, we won’t make things too difficult. You’ll just have to crawl all the way back to the city.”

“And if you miss a single step, I won’t let you off the hook!”

“And if by some dumb luck you succeed, this young master will graciously bestow five hundred thousand upon you.”

“Five hundred thousand? Heh. Is that all you two are worth?”

At these words, the sneer on Zhang Xiaobei’s face instantly froze.

“How much do you want?”

“If you only dare to bet five hundred thousand, your family’s fortune can’t be that impressive.”

Mu Lin flashed a roguish grin. “How about this: let’s bet fifty million.”

“Kid, you must be crazy for money.”

Zhang Xiaobei burst into a fit of wild laughter.

He simply didn’t believe Mu Lin could possibly cure Yang Shaokang.

Yang Shaokang had hired countless famous doctors for his treatment.

The end result was always the same: these renowned physicians were all, without exception, helpless.

‘What right did Mu Lin have to make such an outrageous boast about an illness that even famous doctors couldn’t cure?’

“It’s a deal.”

“You two can get the money ready. You’ll be wiring it to my account shortly.”

With that, Mu Lin turned to observe Yang Shaokang’s condition.

To be frank, in the eyes of any ordinary doctor, Yang Shaokang’s condition would be considered incurable.

For Mu Lin, however, curing his illness was a matter of several dozen minutes.

The disease was primarily concentrated in his internal organs.

Due to years of overwork, Yang Shaokang’s vitality was severely depleted.

Combined with his poor sleep, the vital energy he lost each day was never properly replenished.

Over time, his internal organs had successively developed various lesions.

The most severely affected were his heart and blood vessels.

His heart suffered from an insufficient blood supply, and his blood vessels were congested and blocked.

After examining Yang Shaokang’s specific condition, Mu Lin accurately described the various symptoms that occurred during his flare-ups.

Yang Shaokang was first stunned, then he immediately looked toward Su Changyuan.

Su Changyuan immediately explained, “I swear, I haven’t told Mr. Mu a single word about your condition.”

“He’s so accurate because he deduced it all himself through his own medical expertise.”
