Chapter 79: Chapter 80: Sneak Attack, Revealing Strength
"It’s our people!" someone in the trapped group shouted in pleasant surprise.
On the tall buildings lining both sides of the street, a row of Archers dressed in the distinct military uniforms of the Daqian Dynasty suddenly appeared. They were currently drawing their bows and firing arrows, killing the enemy bandits. In less than ten breaths, over a dozen bandits from Lianyun Stronghold were struck down before they could even react, dying on the spot.
The sudden arrival of the Archers broke the stalemate, allowing Hong Ming and the others to relax their tense bodies and minds slightly.
At this moment, a triumphant Tao Dingfang laughed heartily. "Your time of death has come! Everyone, charge! Kill!"
Seeing this, Zhu Hu didn’t panic too much. Instead, he let out a furious roar. Since the situation was already this chaotic, he might as well make it even more chaotic. Upon receiving Zhu Hu’s order, the bandits of Lianyun Stronghold raised their weapons and charged out, disappearing into the crowd in the blink of an eye.
At this moment, the arrows suddenly became sparse. No matter how superb their archery skills were, the Archers above didn’t dare to shoot for the time being.
"Kill!"
Seeing that their tactic was working, a flash of joy crossed the faces of the Lianyun Stronghold bandits as they engaged in fierce close combat with the crowd. The scene descended into chaos once again. Fortunately, without the interference of the Archers, things became much easier for Hong Ming and the others.
The sounds of slaughter unknowingly filled the entire street.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
"What?"
However, just as Hong Ming and his group were fiercely clashing with the Lianyun Stronghold bandits, the volley of sharp arrows that had previously stopped suddenly resumed. In an instant, arrows rained down.
"Ah!"
A Martial Artist was shot right in the heart by an arrow. He spat a mouthful of blood, collapsed to the ground, and died. The barrage wasn’t over. In the next moment, a Lianyun Stronghold bandit was also shot in the chest by a sharp arrow, falling dead.
Seeing this, the surrounding Martial Artists immediately cursed, "These bastards!"
Although most of the arrows were aimed at the Lianyun Stronghold bandits, both sides were currently engaged in close-quarters combat. Their positions were constantly shifting. An Archer might be aiming at a bandit one second, but could easily hit one of their own Martial Artists the next. The thought of not being killed by the bandits, but instead being shot by their own men, made Hong Ming and the rest of the Martial Artists curse furiously in their hearts.
In contrast, the bandits of Lianyun Stronghold showed pleasant surprise upon seeing this, and their fighting grew even more frenzied. They darted among the Martial Artists, weaving through like swimming fish, attempting to confuse the Archers’ line of sight.
"Hahaha, Tao Dingfang, your Archers truly have superb skills! They won’t even spare their own people!" Zhu Hu, who was not far away, also noticed this and burst into laughter, the frustration in his heart significantly diminishing.
"Heh, compared to wiping out your Lianyun Stronghold, what does the sacrifice of a few Martial Artists matter?" Tao Dingfang remained unmoved. He charged forward again and engaged in combat with Sun Yun.
"Let’s attack together!" Sun Yun said in a deep voice, planning to join forces with Zhu Hu to eliminate Tao Dingfang.
Zhu Hu nodded, then leaped forward to assist Sun Yun. The three of them clashed instantly. Seeing this, Zhu Bao didn’t hesitate either. He led his remaining subordinates and charged into the buildings on both sides. Although these Archers seemed blind, they would still be a hindrance in the upcoming battle. It was better to eliminate them first before dealing with the others.
WHOOSH!
"Master!!"
A sharp arrow pierced the air and whizzed over. Just as Hong Ming was fighting a bandit, it suddenly struck his arm. The massive impact forced Hong Ming’s body to stumble backward. The three bandits facing him saw an opportunity; flashes of joy crossed their faces as they raised their weapons, ready to hack down at Hong Ming.
Wei Ping, who was closest to Hong Ming, cried out in alarm. He immediately flashed forward, dashing over at full speed.
Hearing his shout, the rest of the group looked over. When they saw that Hong Ming was injured, their faces tightened, revealing intense worry. They then instinctively moved toward Hong Ming’s position, trying to protect him in the center.
"Damn it!" Li Mo, who had always been mild-tempered, saw that Hong Ming had been shot by their own people. His face darkened, and he let out an angry curse.
WHOOSH!
"Oh no, Master, look out!"
At that moment, the sound of something tearing through the air rang out. Li Mo looked up, his expression changing drastically as another sharp arrow flew toward them. It was so fast that the group had no time to react. The three bandits also noticed the incoming arrow and took the opportunity to attack the people surrounding Hong Ming.
THWACK!
Just as the sharp arrow was about to hit Hong Ming, an equally fierce arrow carrying tremendous momentum struck through the air. In the nick of time, it shot perfectly into the incoming arrow.
CLACK!
"Junior Brother Su!"
"Chen!"
Everyone turned to look. When they saw it was Su Chen, they were all stunned.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
Su Chen ignored their expressions. Gripping three sharp arrows, he used his hands as a bow and his eyes as a ruler, violently exerting his strength. The lightning-fast arrows, carrying Su Chen’s irrepressible anger, acted like three beams of light that pierced through the three bandits near Hong Ming.
With a tearing sound, the arrows impaled their bodies. The three bandits stumbled back several steps, spat out dark blood, and crashed to the ground.
The battle continued. Su Chen’s face remained calm. With a flip, he soared into the air, grabbed a handful of arrows from midair, and suddenly flexed his arm. The arrows shot out, hurtling toward the Archers on the tall building who fired blindly at friends and foes alike.
THWIP THWIP THWIP!
Unhindered and exceptionally accurate, each arrow struck an Archer, coldly reaping their lives.
"You bastard! Is this kid out of his fucking mind? He dares to kill the Archers!" A Husband Leader flew into a raging fury upon seeing this. He recognized Su Chen’s identity, which made him even angrier. Instead of properly killing bandits, the kid was killing their own men. Was he completely blind?!
"Give me an arrow!"
Seeing that Su Chen dared to attack the Archers again, the Husband Leader was enraged. He directly drew his bow and pulled the string back. His eagle-like eyes locked onto Su Chen, his gaze completely ice-cold. "Die!"
WHOOSH!
The power and speed of this arrow were so great that the moment it was released, the Archers felt as if they had heard a crack of thunder. Immediately after, they saw a fierce streak of light tear through the sky.
"Junior Brother, watch out!"
"Chen!"
Hong Ming and the others never expected that those Archers would brazenly target Su Chen, clearly aiming to kill him. For a moment, expressions of worry appeared on all their faces.
Su Chen’s expression grew even more solemn when he saw the incoming arrow. He stood his ground. In a flash of lightning, he grabbed the sharp arrow right out of thin air. His body was as steady as a mountain, not moving an inch.
"What?"
Seeing this, the Husband Leader on the tall building narrowed his eyes. He let out a gasp of disbelief, a hint of astonishment appearing on his face.
"Oh no!"
However, this expression didn’t last long. He saw the angry arrow he had just fired rocketing back toward him at a terrifying speed. A cold gleam seemed to flash before his eyes, reflecting in his pupils. It made all the hairs on his body stand on end and sent bursts of chill down his spine.
BANG!
In the nick of time, the Husband Leader narrowly dodged it. Hearing the commotion from behind him, he was filled with shock and fury.
"Damn him!"
A chilling killing intent surged in his dark eyes. With a sinister gaze, he turned his head to look at Su Chen. But the moment he did, his entire body went cold.
He only saw a wisp of spectral light piercing the void. In an instant, it dotted his pupil and then entirely engulfed his vision.
