Chapter 147: Chapter 112: Playing Along with the Scheme, a New Deal, and Massive Gains

Whether Duan Feng had truly grown suspicious of him or not would soon be revealed once the appointed time arrived.

The crescent moon hung like a silver hook against the night sky, casting a bright, pristine glow that illuminated the earth almost like daylight. The chirping of insects, the calls of nocturnal birds, and the croaking of frogs merged into a chorus, highlighting the restlessness of the night.

Su Chen seemed to have blended entirely into the surrounding vegetation, his breathing turning incredibly faint.

"They’re here!" he thought.

This tranquility did not last long. Su Chen’s ears twitched as a myriad of sounds assailed him from all directions. He quickly isolated a few discordant noises from the chorus. The newcomers weren’t Duan Feng. Furthermore, there was more than one!

Gazing into the distance, he could faintly make out a few blurry silhouettes flashing by before vanishing into the dense underbrush.

"Just as I expected!" he thought.

Seeing these people lying in ambush nearby, Su Chen’s expression turned solemn. Duan Feng had not only seen through his fake identity but also planned to lure him out and capture him.

Time continued to slip away. In the blink of an eye, the time agreed upon between Su Chen and Duan Feng arrived. Su Chen’s attention finally shifted from the hidden ambushers to the belated Duan Feng.

Duan Feng’s attire was exactly the same as the last time. Upon arriving at the designated spot, his eyes darted around, searching for Su Chen’s figure. Seeing this, Su Chen withdrew his aura even further.

Not far away.

A tall man and his group of subordinates held their breaths, observing from the shadows. When they spotted Duan Feng, everyone’s expressions turned serious. They eagerly scanned the area, trying to locate Su Chen.

They searched for nearly fifteen minutes, but didn’t catch so much as a glimpse of a shadow.

"Dharma King, could this guy be deceiving us? This is outrageous! I’ll go kill him!" a subordinate said indignantly.

The tall man didn’t speak, shooting the subordinate a fierce glare instead. Although he harbored his own suspicions, it was still early. He had no intention of revealing himself just yet.

Meanwhile.

As time passed, Duan Feng’s face grew increasingly tense. His already panicked heart became even more flustered. His mind swarmed with chaotic thoughts.

"Could it be that the other party knows I intentionally set a trap to lure him? Is that why he’s not showing up? Or is he hiding in the dark, watching me?" he wondered.

He couldn’t be sure. The only thing he knew for certain was that the people from the Rebirth Sect were lying in ambush nearby.

The night deepened.

Half an hour, an hour, two hours... Duan Feng had long since found a relatively comfortable spot to sit down, waiting drowsily. But let alone Su Chen himself, he hadn’t even caught sight of his shadow.

Duan Feng even began to suspect that Su Chen had said those things on purpose just to confuse him, and never actually intended to make the trade. He had thought himself so clever, believing he had successfully deceived the other party, but in the end, the joke was on him!

He was growing quite impatient, but since he hadn’t received a signal from the Rebirth Sect, he could only wait helplessly.

Su Chen also hadn’t expected this group to be so patient. They had been waiting for almost three hours, yet they were still stubbornly holding their ground.

Fortunately, their patience eventually wore out. After a total of four hours, the Rebirth Sect finally sent Duan Feng a signal.

"It’s finally over!" Su Chen thought.

The first to leave wasn’t the group of men in black, but Duan Feng. The men seemed a bit unwilling to give up, waiting for a while longer after Duan Feng’s departure.

Naturally, Su Chen didn’t reveal himself. He waited until they completely cleared out before finally breathing a sigh of relief. Looking in the direction where the two groups had disappeared, Su Chen’s expression solidified. Ultimately, he chose to tail Duan Feng to see what he was up to.

He still couldn’t get the Qi Blood Pills on the other party out of his mind!

It didn’t take long for Su Chen to catch sight of Duan Feng’s figure.

"It seems he won’t be showing up tonight!" Duan Feng muttered.

After running for a while, he was completely out of breath. He stopped by a large rock on the side of the road to rest a little. Once his breathing steadied, he resumed his journey.

"This doesn’t seem to be the direction to the Profound Water Sect," Su Chen thought.

Observing from the shadows, he felt a bit puzzled. Where was this guy planning to go this late at night?

After following Duan Feng for some time, the two of them gradually ventured deep into the Qingxi Mountain Forest. If it weren’t for Duan Feng’s sneaky and suspicious demeanor, Su Chen would have almost suspected that he had been discovered.

Fortunately, the other party was purely acting out of caution. However, this only deepened the confusion in Su Chen’s eyes. He had a nagging feeling that Duan Feng was going to bring him a pleasant surprise.

About fifteen minutes later, when even Su Chen had lost track of where they had wandered to, he finally spotted a cave ahead. Duan Feng seemed quite familiar with this place, effortlessly making his way inside.

The cave wasn’t large, but it was extremely well-hidden. The perimeter was lined with traps to prevent wild beasts from barging in.

Once Duan Feng went inside, Su Chen quickly approached the entrance, pressing his ear close to listen. The cave wasn’t deep, so he could hear movements from within. However, they were faint—he could only make out a jumble of indistinct noises.

"He’s coming out!" Su Chen thought.

It was unclear what Duan Feng had been doing inside, but just a few minutes later, the sound of footsteps echoed from within.

"PHEW!"

Having safely stored his items, a satisfied smile spread across Duan Feng’s face. This was his secret base. Ordinarily, he would stash the pills he concocted here to avoid discovery by the people from the Xuanfa Courtyard. The location was incredibly secluded; virtually no one besides him knew of its existence, much less his activities.

"If it weren’t for that guy today, I wouldn’t have had to wait until now to come here!"

His mind drifted back to the night’s events. Filled with irritation, he couldn’t help but voice his complaint out loud.

But as he took a single step out, the expression on his face instantly froze. A familiar figure stood right beside him, looking at him with a half-smile.
