Chapter 135: Chapter 110: 3rd Level Mixed Element Skill, Strength Surges, Battling the Blood Saber Sect

He Chong said, "Father, we can’t just leave like this!"

"What do you know?!" He Yuan had thought it was something important, but it was just this?

Hearing this made him fly into a rage. He said in a deep voice, "At a time like this, why do we still care about that Lu Xiaofeng? Fleeing for our lives is what matters. We can talk about everything else later!"

With that said, he prepared to spur his horse on again.

However, He Chong reached out and stopped He Yuan’s movements. He shook his head and said, "Father, I might not understand much, but I know that Mr. Lu made enemies with the Blood Saber Sect to cover our escape. If we betray his trust and abandon him, how are we any different from those animals in the Blood Saber Sect?"

Hearing this, He Yuan stared at He Chong in a daze. Meeting his son’s gaze, it was as if he could see his own youthful and naive self from years ago deep within He Chong’s eyes.

He remained silent, allowing He Chong to continue.

"Since we agreed on a route with Mr. Lu, both reason and emotion dictate that we should follow the planned path and meet up with him.

"If we just walk away now, even if we escape this time, I will never have peace of mind for the rest of my life.

"Have you forgotten? Both you and Mother taught me never to turn my back on righteousness. A person can live their whole life without chasing wealth or power, but they cannot abandon their conscience. Because once it’s lost, it can never be found again."

As he spoke, he looked firmly at He Yuan, his tone earnest and profound. "Father, let’s go back. With Mr. Lu around, I believe we won’t die."

After listening to He Chong’s words, which struck him like a sharp wake-up call, He Yuan’s expression softened. He let out a sigh. "You’re right. I let my panic get the better of me and lost my sense of judgment. It’s just a few pieces of silver, after all. We aren’t so low as to forsake our conscience over such a petty sum. Let’s go back now."

"Yeah!" He Chong nodded heavily, a faint smile finally appearing on his tense face.

CLAP CLAP CLAP!

Just as the two turned around to head back and meet up with Su Chen, crisp applause suddenly echoed through the quiet forest. A pervasive voice spread alongside it. "What a touching scene of loyalty and righteousness. It almost makes me feel bad about killing you father and son."

"Who is it?" He Yuan’s heart tightened. He looked around cautiously, full of vigilance.

He couldn’t even pinpoint the speaker’s location, causing his expression to turn grave.

"No need to look. I’m right here!"

As soon as the words fell, a figure cloaked in crimson slowly emerged from the darkness. His movements were elegant, his pace unhurried.

The man had a slender build and a precious saber strapped to his waist. With his youthful face but snow-white hair, he carried the faint, imposing aura of someone who had long held a position of high authority.

"Blood Saber Sect Leader!" He Yuan enunciated each word as he stared at the person before him. He couldn’t hide the shock in his voice.

The Blood Saber Sect Leader gave a slight nod. "Heh, I’ve long heard that the Mixed Element Sect Leader is nothing but a mediocrity. Now, it seems the rumors are somewhat unfounded. Anyone who can recognize me at a glance is surely no ordinary person!"

Hearing this, He Yuan felt an overwhelming sense of bitterness. "To deal with the Mixed Element Sect, even the Blood Saber Sect Leader has personally taken action. How am I, He Yuan, worthy of such an honor?"

Driven into a corner, his voice was filled with despair. Just when it seemed they were about to clear the clouds and see the blue sky, Wu Yun covered the sky instead, accompanied by flashing lightning and roaring thunder, making it feel like the end of the world.

With his strength, risking his life against the Blood Saber Sect’s Vice Sect Leader might have offered a slim chance of survival. But fighting the Blood Saber Sect Leader to the death was no different from throwing an egg against a rock or a mantis trying to stop a speeding carriage.

"Chong, I will hold him off in a moment. You take the opportunity to run!" He Yuan lowered his voice, speaking with absolute resolution.

He Chong naturally understood what He Yuan meant. He opened his mouth to protest. "Father, I—"

"Shut up and do as I say!"

He Yuan shouted softly. Stepping heavily on the stirrup, he leaped into the air and launched an assault toward the Blood Saber Sect Leader.

Seeing this, a mocking smirk curled the corners of the Blood Saber Sect Leader’s mouth. "Hmph, you overestimate yourself!"

"Go!"

He Yuan roared, his voice thick with urgency.

"Hyah!"

He Chong grabbed the reins, pressing his lips together and gritting his teeth. Channeling all his grief and indignation into strength, he kicked his legs hard against the horse’s flanks. The startled beast bolted forward in a wild sprint.

"Do you think you can leave without my permission?"

The Blood Saber Sect Leader’s expression darkened, a faint but menacing glint flashing in his eyes. His arm moved in a blur. The precious saber glided smoothly against its scabbard, drawing with the speed of flashing thunder.

"Not good!"

Mid-air, He Yuan felt a piercing, bone-chilling cold. His mind trembled, and his body suddenly stalled. Forcing himself to change direction, he tumbled and narrowly dodged the attack.

"What?"

The next moment, before He Yuan could even steady himself upon landing, he saw a phantom blur streak past his eyes. Its speed was astonishing. In the blink of an eye, it tore through the space between them and buried itself into the horse’s back like a sharp arrow. The steed let out a miserable shriek, completely losing control as it thrashed in panic.

Sitting on its back, He Chong found it impossible to tame or control the maddened horse. Amidst the violent bucking, he had no choice but to leap off.

THUD!

The steed struggled for a long time. Blood flowed out along the tree branch embedded in its flesh, spilling all around, until it could no longer hold on. It staggered and collapsed, panting heavily as it clung to its last breaths.

"Damn it!"

Seeing this scene, He Yuan cursed inwardly. Without a horse, He Chong had absolutely no chance of escaping.

"To think you dare get distracted at a time like this. You haven’t realized your situation at all, much less taken me seriously!"

Suddenly, an icy voice rang out. He Yuan’s heart jolted, his body stiffened, and the hairs all over his body stood on end.

He abruptly turned his head. An intense aura of death instantly enveloped his entire being. That gleam of the saber slashed through the vast sky, looking as though it could cleave heaven and earth in half.
