Chapter 132 - 131: Unflinching
Chapter 132: Chapter 131: Unflinching
Bev breathed a sigh of relief only after Zelir turned to go consult with Instructor Lena.
She let go of the hand covering Yanni’s mouth.
"Bev, why do you have to go along with everything he says?!" Yanni could finally speak, looking quite indignant.
"It’s a small matter, nothing to get worked up about."
Bev pinched Yanni’s cheek. "Besides, isn’t it good to get some more experience?"
"It’s not a small matter at all..."
Yanni gave Zelir’s retreating figure a reproachful look, then glanced back at Bev.
She wanted to say something, but in the end, she could only let out a soft sigh.
"Instructor Lena." Zelir walked up to her.
"What is it, Zelir?" Lena looked at him.
"Instructor Lena, I was hoping to ask if the upcoming Giant Rock Golem could also be left for the Fourth Squad to handle."
Zelir said, "We didn’t use up much energy, and we’ve still got plenty left."
Leiden, who had been grimacing at the thought of the upcoming battle, immediately chimed in after hearing Zelir’s words.
"Yeah, I think so too, Instructor Lena. Zelir has so much experience as an Adventurer, we should let him do it. We can watch and learn."
Instructor Lena raised an eyebrow, giving Leiden a knowing, half-amused look.
She was, of course, well aware of Leiden’s cowardly nature, but she didn’t give him a hard time.
’Alright.’
’I’ll give them a bit more time, then.’
"Alright... In that case, Zelir, you and the Fourth Squad can take this one as well." Lena agreed to Zelir’s request.
"Thank you, Instructor Lena."
After their break was over, the squad continued on their journey.
As the party marched deeper, the surrounding environment began to change drastically.
The air grew drier, and the trees became sparse and withered, replaced by vast stretches of barren, reddish-brown land.
The ground underfoot was dry, cracked sandstone, completely unsuitable for plant life. It made a CRACKLING sound when stepped on.
All signs indicated that they were entering the territory of the Giant Rock Golem.
A heavy, oppressive feeling filled the air.
After the team had advanced for another ten-odd minutes across the cracked earth, Rivaya, at the very front, suddenly stopped.
He raised a fist, and the entire party fell silent in an instant.
"It’s here," Rivaya said in a low voice.
Everyone followed his gaze.
THUD... THUD...
The sound of heavy footsteps gradually emerged.
A behemoth the size of a small hill slowly came into view.
It was a humanoid giant over five meters tall, its body made of rough, dark-brown rock covered in signs of wind erosion.
It had no facial features, but where its head should be were two masses of dim yellow light, like hollow eyes, that emotionlessly scanned the desolate land.
THUD... THUD...
The dull thuds grew louder, and the ground itself trembled with each of its heavy movements.
Adventurer’s Association Universal Monster Atlas
[Tier 45]: Giant Rock Golem
Appearance:
A humanoid creature formed from pure Earth Element. Its height is typically between four and six meters, with a coarse appearance, like a small, walking mountain.
Habitat:
The Giant Rock Golem is highly destructive to its environment. The Earth Element emanating from its body constantly erodes the surrounding landscape, causing the land to become dry, cracked, and barren.
Special Abilities:
Its body, composed of pure rock, grants it extremely high physical defense. Conventional sword slashes and Arrow piercings are almost completely ineffective against it.
Furthermore, the Giant Rock Golem can summon Earth Monster Servants to fight alongside it. These servants are numerous and serve as a significant nuisance.
Core Weakness:
The Giant Rock Golem’s outer shell has no weaknesses. However, there is an Energy Core inside its chest. Destroying it will instantly destroy the Golem.
Association’s Note:
Any squad lacking powerful damage output should not attempt to Challenge the Giant Rock Golem.
Before provoking this stone monster, please ensure your team has an extremely strong heavy hitter.
When the Giant Rock Golem noticed the group of humans not far away, it stopped.
After a brief silence, an aura of pure malice erupted like a landslide and tsunami!
Perhaps because it was made of stone, the Giant Rock Golem utterly despised all creatures of flesh and blood, especially humans.
"ROAR!!!"
It let out a furious roar, then quickened its pace, lumbering menacingly toward the party’s position!
The whole process was filled with a suffocating sense of pressure.
"Bev, Lante, Yanni."
Zelir calmly gave the order.
"Fall back."
"Yes...!"
The three of them immediately complied.
They knew very well that the little Magic they possessed was nowhere near enough to deal with the Giant Rock Golem. Staying would only make them a burden.
Zelir continued.
"Marcus, don’t worry about me, just keep its attention from the side. Valles, aim for the Giant Rock Golem’s weak joints. Rivaya, you provide support."
"Understood!"
They replied in unison, quickly moving into their battle formation.
’Arcane Missile probably won’t be very effective against a large-bodied creature made of pure stone like the Giant Rock Golem.’
’I can only rely on the Water of Cutting, with its extreme slicing Attributes, to break through its defenses.’
’In this situation, if Marcus just stays in front, he’ll only get in my way and I won’t be able to fight freely.’
’It’s better to just have him use Fog Flowing Gauze and look for an opening from the side.’
’As for Gray...’
Zelir glanced at Gray.
"Gray, you’ll be in charge of clearing out the Earth Monsters summoned by the Giant Rock Golem."
"You got it!" Gray understood his role.
Unlike flesh-and-blood creatures like goblins, the Giant Rock Golem’s oppressiveness came from its cold mercilessness and its immense strength, which was great enough to crush rock.
The forward combat group stood ready.
Leiden’s third squad also watched the scene nervously.
Lena, however, crossed her arms with great interest.
’A Giant Rock Golem is a completely different Level of Challenge from a Goblin Community.’
’Zelir, how will you deal with it?’
The distance between them closed. The Giant Rock Golem raised its arms, as thick as stone pillars, and slammed a fist into the ground.
"BOOM!!!"
The earth shook violently as a fan-shaped shockwave, filled with countless stone fragments, swept toward them!
"Watch out!" Marcus roared, raising his shield.
Gray immediately ducked behind Marcus.
Rivaya and Valles both reacted quickly, dodging to the side to find cover.
Only Zelir stood his ground, neither dodging nor evading.
"BOOM...!"
The shockwave, carrying flying sand and stones, howled towards him!
It was a shower of stones that would have pulped an ordinary person.
But just as the sharp fragments were about to hit Zelir, they were all deflected by a hazy layer of flowing light. Only the fierce wind rustled his bangs and the hem of his clothes.
Zelir raised his Magic Wand.
Night Peace, in his palm, was already glowing.
Surging Magic Power flowed into it, charging it up as an extremely sharp sliver of blue light began to silently condense.
"Engage!"
