My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger

Chapter 1275 - 1276: Space Is An Abyss

  • Next Chapter

Damon would never leave. Perhaps that was fine. If everyone he loved was dead, what was the purpose of his life? What meaning did it have anymore?

Kadelas seemed to have spoken some words, but Damon couldn’t really hear him. All he could do was watch his homeworld collect countless scars.

Across the leylines of the world, bright lunar magic filled the land.

"It’s over," Damon whispered.

"Hahahaha!" Orbitus laughed at the center of the madness as long, dark lines appeared across the world. Aetherus had been reduced to the form of a child, and large crevices split the world apart.

Damon turned his head toward where Doom and Unknown were battling. Little by little, their battle was reaching levels he couldn’t even imagine.

.....

Unknown remained standing where he was while Doom unleashed a barrage of attacks invisible to the naked eye. It was hard for mortals to comprehend, but she was attacking from at least nine dimensions of existence, and Unknown was countering her on all levels.

He took a step back, blood coming from the corner of Ranar’s mouth thanks to the strain.

There was no need to move, for Doom could not harm him.

All her attacks were met with the same thing, a boundary that could not be crossed.

"You can’t use attacks on those levels to break through my authority, and from the looks of it, your creation, Aetherus, is about to die."

Doom didn’t say anything as Unknown taunted her.

Then he raised his hand.

"You’ve been attacking all this time, and for whatever reason, you’re holding back. Allow me to rectify that."

Then he brought down his hand.

"Malevolent Starfall!"

Doom’s expression remained cold.

"You would cast a spell on that level?"

Unknown glanced at her and pushed aside Ranar’s golden hair.

In the sky above them, a reddish glow filled the world as something began to approach the atmosphere.

"I am well aware that you have never used the authority Bride of the Demongod. I was banking on that when I set the rules, and I know you never will. You’re too proud. You don’t want to be called the Bride of the Demongod."

Then he smiled, a sinister light in his dark eyes.

"You are a god, absolute and powerful, but you haven’t escaped from that sniveling little girl who feared the Old Ones, desperately trying to escape your destiny. Where did that lead you? It led you to me."

He opened his hands wide as a meteor with the power to destroy the whole continent descended from the sky.

The goddess was quiet, then she chuckled.

Snapping her fingers, she called out, "Authority: Null Maker!"

Nothingness consumed the meteor before it could destroy the continent.

Doom glanced at Unknown, who was dumbfounded.

Then Doom clenched her fist, a radiant and beautiful smile spreading across her face.

"You assumed wrong. Perhaps you would have been right before, but things have changed now, and I am no longer the same goddess I was years ago. And you aren’t that innocent Archon who only cared about his books anymore. You’ve grown into every bit the cruel and malignant god I knew you would become. It was inevitable. If not, what kind of monster would allow someone like me to be born?"

"Authority: Void Maker," Unknown muttered as he watched her use two of his authorities in succession.

Before this mortal coil could react, she had used Void Maker to break the boundary he had created between himself and the world.

The boundary he created was based on a simple principle. He would create an infinite space between himself and anything else, but that didn’t matter if she used Void Maker.

Suddenly, she grabbed his neck. The body he was in belonged to a ten-year-old Ranar, while she was in the body of an adult Luna. To put it simply, Unknown was at a disadvantage.

She lifted him by the neck, and he placed his hands on the one strangling him.

"Minerva, darling, we can be reasonable."

"Now you want to reason? Begone!"

"Null Maker!"

Unknown didn’t disappear. Instead, he smiled with one eye closed.

"Hmm, that was a close one, but you didn’t really think I would have no way to counter my own authorities, did you?"

Her hand fell to the ground, severed by a boundary between its cells and flesh, despite her power.

She glanced at the hand and whispered the name of another of his authorities.

Her hand regenerated, and the severed one grew into another version of her.

Unknown remained perfectly calm.

"Well, clearly you have no pride as a goddess, or even as a woman. How low you have fallen. Since you’ve stooped so low, I suppose I might as well use this."

A book floated in front of him.

As its pages opened, runes so advanced that they seemed incomprehensible filled the air and surrounded Minerva.

"Authority: Boundary Maker."

She was shredded into a mist of blood.

"I figured out how the Bride of the Demongod authority works. It’s quite interesting. It changes its nature to match one of my authorities at a time. The only problem is that it can only match one, and since you are paranoid, you won’t lock yourself into a single one of my authorities. So you change between them. During this brief window, you are left completely without an authority."

The blood mist began to gather until it slowly condensed into the form of the Goddess of Doom.

"I assume you were hoping for that, weren’t you?" she asked calmly.

"I was. I figured if I pushed you enough, you would give up your pride and resort to using my power against me. But what you seem to forget is that I am my own worst enemy. I already contemplated how to handle my own authorities being used against me."

"I’m not impressed that you managed to harm me. After all, I pack a mean punch."

His form vanished, and he slammed his fist into the goddess. However, even when half the continent behind her and everything beyond it were consumed by a vast chasm that stretched for miles and miles, she didn’t even move.

"Law Maker."

"For this moment, I set it into law that Unknown must adhere to the rules of my world as if he were born with them."

Law Maker was also one of Unknown’s authorities, and it could impose absolutely any law he wanted, even if it was cruel and tyrannical, impossible or psychedelic. It could be anything.

He could impose a rule stating that if any human said the word "god," they could become a god, and that rule would absolutely apply.

After all, he was all-powerful. That said, his authorities were limited by his current rank, but even at the Seventh Class, Doom knew he could establish a rule like this.

However, when she did, Luna’s tongue exploded. When it regenerated, a rune appeared on it that made it heavy. Using this power with the body of a mortal came with consequences.

Actually, using all the authorities through these bodies came with consequences.

Unknown smiled.

Then he raised his hand once more.

"So be it."

Golden light began to fill his hands, and runes spread across the battlefield, reaching even the chaotic slaughter above them.

"The attribute I am most attuned to is the stars, but did you know the sun is also a star? And this body is one built on the sun and designed solely for my use."

"Now, I shall end this battle."

"Fall, Sun. Solaris Burst!"

You could stop a tiny meteor from falling, but I just pulled the sun toward this planet. Admittedly, it would have been easier to move the planet toward the sun.

Doom raised her hand to stop it, but as soon as she did, Unknown jumped toward her, and then they teleported away.

When they reached the sky, he held her by the neck, wrapping his arms around her.

"You fell for it again. I wasn’t aiming for the world. I was aiming for this barrier."

The barrier she had placed around the world to protect it. It turned out Unknown had actually been trying to destroy it.

Doom’s eyes flashed, and she rammed her body through it, sending them both outside.

The moment she did, she suddenly felt a prickling sensation.

Ah, finally, we are free from that stifling barrier. Now I can harness my power freely.

A vortex surrounded him and began to spread.

Doom narrowed her eyes.

"Fine, then. So can I."

She casually waved her hand, and the sun, a vast and gigantic star millions of times larger than the world of Aetherus, shrank into a bead and stopped at the tip of her finger.

She pointed it at him like a gun and whispered, "Bang."

In the airless and soundless void of space, it shot toward Unknown, but he didn’t even move. He caught it like a firefly.

"I am even more powerful in the Abyss. And couldn’t you define the vacuum of space as an abyss?"

"I’m not in your domain, Minerva. You are in mine."

"And I have won."
