My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 411: Blood, Honor, And Glory [Part 4]
Garen had told Cole about Jason’s ability.
To his surprise, the young warrior of the Aslan Tribe didn’t even transform into his werewolf form.
He simply wielded a spear and a shield, a relatively uncommon weapon combination among the barbarian tribes.
Meanwhile, Cole wielded a sword, and he was proficient with it. He believed that as long as he could close the distance, he could finish off Jason before he could even transform and use his trump card.
However, this was easier said than done.
The sound of weapons clashing against each other reached everyone’s ears as Jason thrust his spear to stab Cole as soon as the latter entered his strike range.
Cole parried that attack with his sword, closing the gap between them. But the moment he made that move, Jason’s shield bashed against him, making him stagger.
Jason didn’t waste that opportunity. His foot shot out and landed square on his opponent’s chest, sending Cole crashing to the ground.
Cheers from the members of the Aslan Tribe rang across the arena as they supported their representative.
They thought that Jason would do a follow-up attack, but he didn’t do that. Instead, he waited for his opponent to stand up once more before taking a fighting stance.
"Are you looking down on me?" Cole asked. "I know you can transform into a white werewolf. Why aren’t you fighting me at full power?!"
Jason didn’t reply. He simply tapped his spear over his shield in response as if to tell his opponent, "Enough talk. Let’s fight!"
Seeing his opponent had no intention of answering his question, Cole took a deep breath and gripped his weapon more firmly.
A moment later, flames surged out from his blade, enveloping his weapon.
Before Garen had set out for Eden, he had asked Malik if his blacksmiths could forge a sword for Cole to use in the tournament. Malik surprisingly agreed, and promised to deliver the sword when he arrived in Eden.
The technology used in crafting this sword was the same technology the Aslan Tribe had imparted to them.
The Sand Steel’s special property was strengthened by the Aslan Tribe’s method. Once this property was activated, it could cut through armor like a hot knife through butter.
Only veteran warriors of the Sandreaver Tribe were capable of pulling it off.
Still, Jason believed that Cole could do something similar, so he never lowered his guard and took his opponent seriously.
"I’ll tell you one last time," Cole stated. "Transform while you still have the chance."
Jason didn’t reply. He simply retained his fighting stance, ready to strike the moment Cole came within his strike range.
"So be it." Cole narrowed his eyes. "Don’t say I didn’t warn you."
He then charged forward with his weapon ready to strike.
Suddenly, he was forced to stop his advance, taking a step back.
Jason unleashed three high-speed thrusts that would’ve pierced Cole’s body had he taken even one more step forward.
But it didn’t end there.
Jason took the initiative to move forward, unleashing another flurry of spear thrusts.
He learned this technique called Heaven’s Flurry from the Heaven Piercer Spear Arts.
"Haph!" Cole swung his sword sideways intending to cut the spear in half. Just as he was about to do it, the spear tip made a sudden descent toward the floor.
A second later, the floor exploded, sending rocks and dirt flying toward Cole’s face, serving as a smokescreen.
The warrior was caught completely by surprise. Still, in order to defend himself, he swung wildly, using his weapon as a shield to prevent Jason from advancing toward him.
However, Jason didn’t need to advance.
His weapon had a longer reach.
Suddenly, Cole felt something pierce his left leg, making him cry out in pain. He then desperately wiped his eyes with the back of his hand to regain his vision.
By the time he regained his sight, he found Jason’s spear heading for his chest from a few feet away.
Desperate, Cole tried to dodge to his right side. Due to his injured left leg, his body failed to keep up with his reaction time, so Jason’s spear pierced through his left arm.
With gritted teeth, Cole threw his sword at Jason before using his left hand to grab hold of the spear’s handle.
Jason blocked the thrown sword with his shield, making it bounce off completely.
With a cry filled with all of his willpower, Cole pulled out the spear from his arm and kept a firm grip on it. He then tried to pull Jason closer to him, but he couldn’t muster enough strength to make it happen.
With his left leg and left arm injured, he struggled to launch any effective attack at his opponent.
The only thing he could do was hold on to Jason’s weapon, preventing the latter from using it against him.
Unfortunately, this battle was already decided the moment Cole lost his mobility and his weapon.
Jason let go of the handle of his spear as he charged forward with his shield raised to bash against Cole’s body.
The blow sent the young warrior flying as all the air in his lungs was expelled after that collision.
The spear fell on the ground, bouncing once before coming to a stop.
Before Cole could even try to stand, Jason had already picked up the spear and pierced the floor right beside his opponent’s neck.
"Do you still want to continue?" Jason asked calmly.
He and Cole had no grievances nor grudges against each other. They were simply competitors in the tournament representing their respective tribes.
There was no need to worsen the injuries on his opponent’s body. Plus, doing so might only sour the relationship between the Aslan Tribe and the Ironhide Tribe.
"I concede," Cole said before heaving a sigh.
The injury in his leg made it impossible for him to prop himself up, making him unable to continue fighting.
The moment he surrendered, Jason backed away and bowed at him.
After that, Leone once again descended into the arena, using his healing ability to heal the wounds on Cole’s body.
The wound closed up, but it didn’t heal completely. The young warrior would still need to drink a potion or rest for a few days to fully recover.
Jason then helped to support his opponent’s body, helping him leave the arena. Everyone watched this act of sportsmanship and applauded the two fighters.
Zorren, on the other hand, clicked his tongue at the sight. For him, the fight was boring. It was so lukewarm that he didn’t feel any excitement over it.
Just like Cole, his chieftain had informed Zorren that Jason could transform into a white werewolf to do battle.
Since Jason didn’t use his abilities, Zorren had no way to judge the young man’s true strength.
He then subconsciously looked at the VIP area and sought out the beautiful oracle. It was then that he saw her looking at Jason with a tender gaze.
A thought came to Zorren’s head, but he immediately dispelled it. After all, this was the first time that Tianna and Jason had met each other.
’Maybe she just thought that he was a good guy because he didn’t try to kill his opponent,’ Zorren thought.
He knew Tianna was kindhearted and wasn’t a fan of needless bloodshed.
While it didn’t sit well with him that his future wife was looking at someone with that gaze, Zorren decided to ignore it for now.
’There’s no rush,’ Zorren thought. ’Once I face Jason in the arena, I’ll rip his arms and legs off and toss them at his chieftain’s face. Let’s see if he can still act smug afterwards.’
The young warrior smiled evilly. He could already see himself trampling on his opponents, proving to everyone that he was the strongest warrior in his generation.
And with that, the third battle came to an end.
The last battle was between the Warclaw Tribe and the Redmaw Tribe.
Everyone already knew that the victor would be Tristan, and just as they expected, the battle ended in less than ten seconds with his opponent knocked unconscious and unable to fight.
