Black Grass stopped moving at thirty-one Array edges.

No one called the count victory until the occupied routes answered.

Tali began with Hesh Roof.

Six hundred sixty-two people remained above damaged drainage. Twenty-one bed patients had crossed a local corridor. Forty residents had reached Eda Ro’s buses.

All completed crossings remained complete.

Rain entered the roof through three culture cuts. Hesh crews placed bowls and cloth under each leak. Their defense was a cleaning lip, two hand valves, and people changing catch pans.

"Current and holding," the roof keeper reported.

Kiln Steps counted 677 survivors. Its upper rooms had three working hand pumps and no water stair.

Mosi Deka remained dead.

No line in the ledger replaced him with the crews operating his pumps.

North Pump retained 494 rescued residents. Nemi held no support relation through her injured hand. The pump defense used two mechanical stops that different crews could open.

Tera counted the school group again.

Thirty-eight children and nine adults remained with the school group. One grandmother stayed alive at home under charcoal heat. The cistern and school water were gone, and three kitchen lines remained cut.

Tera assigned the children to four current rooms before anyone rebuilt a class schedule. Each room had an adult keeper, an exterior exit, and permission to close its own heat line.

Rilo’s water bags were empty. He returned the torn material to the households that had supplied it and kept no emergency claim on their next delivery.

The school defense could hold one cold night. The second night had no verified fuel.

The future-school view had closed when East Market withdrew identity separation.

No one treated its deaths as canceled or promised. The names seen there remained an unresolved hostile contact, not a local casualty list.

Dena lost two ovens and heating for seven rooms. Its seventeen market workers survived.

Far Anchor retained every household keeper who had answered after Aren entered the hall.

Davi Sen breathed through his maintenance line without command culture. Six treatment beds on Twenty-Nine retained air.

Meva removed Mara’s handle from the split ring after Aren’s body left it.

She placed the handle in a clay box under local evidence seal.

Aren’s body traveled through no route opening. Far Anchor workers carried him out by the roof boards he had crossed alive.

Tali recorded the transport separately from his death.

SSS Seven remained an empty office.

Meva kept Bearing Nineteen for one maintenance shift. At shift end, she returned the copper pair to the roof crew.

They selected Beni Ora for the next shift and gave him no claim over Aren’s other work.

The blank square on Tali’s board held two pencil names on separate lines.

At Ridge, crews recovered the two workers killed in the rail shelter.

Their names were Leto Marr and Suri Pell.

Leto had been repairing the late-warning radio repeater. Suri had returned for a tool bag after her crew cleared.

The freight carriage saved the inhabited rail line from the first impact. It did not save them from the second.

Osa Pell confirmed Suri’s name and relationship without changing the casualty count.

Ridge’s defense now consisted of a scrap-pit stop, hand radios, one manual rail gate, and a broken water line.

Ward Nine’s pressure warning did not return.

North Rail’s harmful-route stop remained withdrawn.

River Gate’s occupied-route warning stayed local after Pavi removed it from the mesh.

East Market kept identity separation outside the operation.

Nine Record functions remained available to the thirty-one-site defense. Any keeper could still withdraw a section under its written condition.

Soma wrote no restoration schedule for the missing three.

The Woman’s direct shelter still held thirty-nine people.

Her current host could see through one eye and stand only while two residents supported her hips.

Five local corridor segments remained under their holders. Sada’s refusal remained. Eda Ro kept her people-only vehicle route closed after the Hesh buses arrived.

The Woman asked no one to rebuild her shared root.

"I can offer six minutes to Hesh after the rain count," she said.

Hesh accepted one stair-to-street route for named roof residents. The street holder limited it to sixty people and dry clothing.

No tools crossed. No culture samples crossed. The route ended after fifty-eight people and two empty places.

Hesh Roof fell to 604.

The rescue was real. The limit stayed real too.

Kim remained in evidence custody.

Ten claimant routes held copies of the source fields she had exposed. Route Seven kept its own chain.

Prosecutors added the operation-root signature and the cancellation ports used by current holders.

Kim received no release for usefulness.

She asked to see the Thirty-One report.

Claimant Three refused. Claimant Eight permitted casualty totals without private household routes. Route Seven sent Aren’s death line and nothing else.

Kim read it under observation.

"He found Mara’s first two teeth," she said.

The observer asked whether Kim had known they existed.

"I knew the failed test. I did not know current workers had changed the collars."

Her answer entered evidence. It granted no command.

Twelve Wells counted 21,604 residents under permanent closure before the shot.

The new count could not cover two occupied routes because River Gate’s warning was gone and local crews had not reached them.

At least 214 injuries remained verified. New injuries from the seven-site body were entered by site, not folded into that earlier minimum.

The twelve Old Market missing stayed missing.

Mikel Taro, Yara Rinn, Odo Ire, Kiva Ko, Luka Dour, and Leni Darr retained their names.

Six identity files remained pending.

No route impression stood in for any of them.

The twenty-three Inland Bridge Nine defenders also remained missing on separate files.

Their marks did not answer during the battle. No one rebuilt them from route pressure.

Juno Vey, Bera Noll, Laro Ven, Una Don, Bela Dinn, Mosi Deka, Aren Vale, Leto Marr, and Suri Pell remained dead.

Tali read the names once.

Other local dead stayed on their own current ledgers until identity contact reached the central record. Unknown did not mean absent.

Caleb reduced himself to human scale beside the disconnected foundry frame.

The small external rail brace supported his right side. It did not close the holes at his retained hip or lift the flattened chest plate.

He remained at 66.1 percent of his former current mass, without a left leg, removable plates, long-span support memory, bridge-bearing plates, or left correction.

Sela tagged the foundry frame unusable until a local crew rebuilt every release.

Caleb tagged himself unavailable for field compression before they could ask.

Elara sat in the opaque equipment room with her right arm strapped against her torso.

Her revocation had arrived after the body consumed the last chain slack. Direct directional pressure remained unsafe.

She signed no new deployment permission.

When Caleb entered by the opposite door, every field screen was off.

He sat on the floor because the brace chair did not fit his damaged chest.

Elara touched his left shoulder with her working hand after asking.

They stayed there through the survivor count. Neither called the touch repair.

At the origin field, Soma inspected the copper stake he and the far-side worker had cut.

The far half remained visible through a narrow physical seam.

Red soil clung to its metal.

Kestrel scraped one grain into a local tray without crossing the seam.

The grain held tool marks smaller than Black Grass roots and older than Mara’s Post Eight design.

Under magnification, the marks formed a repeated instruction.

`SEPARATE BEFORE CONTACT.`

The cultivation weapon had not invented that warning.

Someone beyond the front had been fighting route bodies before the thirty-one sites fired.

The copper stake moved under Soma’s fingers.

He released it and asked the origin crew to verify contact. Two workers touched separate parts of the stone with insulated tools. Both felt pressure from beyond the seam, and neither tool joined the other.

The contact belonged to the far side. It was not a delayed response stored in Mara’s route.

Three knocks came from the far side.

Then the far worker pushed a new strip of metal through the seam.

It carried thirty-one cut marks matching the mesh.
