Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Medicinal Herb Score Appraisal

"From my personal experience, the Desert Military Academy in the northwestern part of the Alliance would be a perfect fit for a young man with your kind of guts, courage, and strength. I believe, Li Heng, you could..."

"Ahem, ahem! Teacher Su! You’re breaking the rules! That’s against the rules!"

The teacher holding Li Heng’s ID was listening to Teacher Su, wondering what she was going to ask. When he heard where she was going, he quickly cut her off.

Hearing the reminder, Teacher Su glanced out of the corner of her eye at the two cameras in the corner. A flash of displeasure crossed her brow, and she swallowed the rest of her words.

However, Teacher Su quickly composed herself. With a faint smile, she addressed Li Heng once more.

"Candidate Li Heng, please present your items for scoring. I am responsible for the appraisal of Soul Energy Herbs. Please place all the corresponding items you’ve acquired during the exam on the desk in front of me!"

"Alright. Thank you for your trouble, Teacher Su."

Li Heng understood what Teacher Su had been trying to do earlier. ’She was probably trying to recommend the Desert Military Academy to me.’

He didn’t pay it much mind. He didn’t even know how the final scores and rankings would be calculated yet. He would wait until the final, detailed results were in before choosing a Soul Energy University and a major.

Besides, choosing a Soul Energy University was a major life decision. Li Heng wanted to hear his parents’ and teachers’ advice before making a choice.

Of course, in the end, the final decision was still his to make.

Back in the present, taking out the Soul Energy Herbs was different from presenting the Soul Beast Score Cards. The cards had been arranged by score, from high to low, but the herbs in his medium-sized Space Stone were almost all of the same tier.

Aside from a single Tier Three (rare) Earth Rock Spirit Flower, all the other Soul Energy Herbs were Tier Two (uncommon).

So there was no need to present them in any particular order. He could just pull them all out.

However, considering some of the herbs were poisonous, Li Heng didn’t take them out right away. Instead, he asked the teacher for a pair of gloves.

"What type of gloves do you need? And don’t be nervous. When you focus on Soul Beast Score Cards, it’s inevitable that you’ll be a bit lacking when it comes to herbs. I completely understand that kind of trade-off."

The Soul Energy Alliance had long since accounted for the vast variety of Soul Energy Herbs and their different properties. As such, they provided various types of gloves for the inspections.

At the same time, when Teacher Su saw Li Heng hesitate slightly, she assumed it was because he had very few herbs in his medium-sized Space Stone, so she offered some words of encouragement.

She wouldn’t have bothered saying a thing to any other student in this situation, but Li Heng was different.

An outstanding student like Li Heng was hard to ignore! At least, Teacher Su felt this particular student was worth the extra effort.

"The anti-poison ones will be fine," Li Heng replied.

After putting on the anti-poison gloves, Li Heng slowly began to take the herbs out from his medium-sized Space Stone.

Huh?!

’A Tier Two herb right off the bat?’

Teacher Su’s gaze sharpened. She stared at Li Heng’s hand and the Tier Two herb he had produced. She felt a flicker of surprise but gave no outward sign, simply nodding silently as she began the appraisal.

"Soul-Devouring Withered Vine, a Tier Two herb, 50 points!"

"Three-Vein Bloodbrier, a Tier Two herb, 50 points!"

"Stardust Mushroom, a Tier Two herb, 50 points!"

...

"A Tier Two herb, 50 points!"

So far, Li Heng had only produced ten herbs, but every single one of them was Tier Two.

As Li Heng continued to pull out more herbs, the expression of Teacher Su, who was responsible for the appraisal, gradually shifted from a hint of surprise, to shock, and finally to a grave solemnity.

Ten herbs, and all of them were Tier Two!

And the quality of the herbs was superb!

’Herbs of this quality... he must have brought them into the Secret Realm with him.’

But she dismissed that thought in less than a second.

This was only the sixth day of the exam. The fact that Li Heng was even here proved he hadn’t brought any herbs with him.

And besides... the quality of some of these herbs surpassed even what was sold in the Soul Energy Store!

’To survive for six days on those mountainous islands, kill numerous Soul Beasts—many of them Tier Two—and still find so many high-quality Tier Two herbs on top of it all!’

’This student, Li Heng... his future prospects are simply inestima—’

’Wait... what... there are more?’

’And they’re Tier Two again?!’

’Could he have found an entire herb garden in the Desolate Moon Islands Secret Realm?’

Teacher Su didn’t say this out loud, merely thinking it to herself. Her hands never stopped moving as she continued the appraisal.

Another ten Tier Two herbs!

Twenty Tier Two herbs had now passed through her hands, totaling 1,000 points. And they were all from a single student!

Combined with his previous 721 points, his total was 1,721. A score like that was more than enough to contend for a top-ten rank in the city’s Secret Realm college entrance exam!

"Li Heng, your score this time... You... you have more?!"

Teacher Su was genuinely impressed with Li Heng and had been about to announce his total score. But before she could finish her sentence, his next move left her completely stunned.

Without waiting for Teacher Su to finish, Li Heng had produced another ten herbs. Once again, they were all Tier Two. A veritable "herb pile" was now forming on the desk in front of her!

With this new batch of ten, the total now stood at thirty Tier Two herbs!

’Is there really an herb garden in the Desolate Moon Islands Secret Realm?!’

Teacher Su no longer knew what to say. A numbness was setting in, and she woodenly resumed the appraisal.

Teacher Su continued to announce the scores for each Tier Two herb. The other two teachers were gradually growing stunned as they listened. Eventually, only a single thought echoed in their minds: ’Fifty points!’

After what had just happened, Teacher Su learned her lesson. This time, as she was about to finish appraising the pile, she didn’t rush to speak. Instead, she first glanced up at Li Heng’s hands.

Seeing that Li Heng hadn’t stopped and was still placing more herbs on the desk, Teacher Su was at a loss for words. She could only continue her work of appraising them.

This process repeated four more times. The three-meter-long desk was now almost completely covered.

Teacher Su, the one responsible for the appraisal, now wore a numb expression, mechanically evaluating one herb after another.

Only when Li Heng pulled the final herb from his medium-sized Space Stone did Teacher Su’s expression finally shift from its numb state.

The numbness was instantly replaced by sheer, utter shock!

"A Tier Three herb! An Earth Rock Spirit Flower?!" Astonishment was written all over Teacher Su’s face.

A Tier Three herb!

After Teacher Su spoke, the expressions of the other two teachers became exceptionally grave, especially the one holding Li Heng’s ID. He spoke directly, his words ringing with force.

"Heh, what an absolute joke! A student with a score over 3,500 is considered top-tier anywhere in the nation! And yet he wasn’t even selected for the national placement exam! Whoever is in charge of Maple City this year... they must be completely blind!"
