My Ex-Husband Always Knew That I Had Cheated on Him
Chapter 441 - 416: Is the Mysterious Man Him?!
In the end, Alexander Johnson did not go inside but instead placed the porridge he held on the bench in the hallway and turned away.
Inside the hospital room, after Alan Johnson finished speaking, he fell into a long silence.
Only the sound of a gentle breeze outside the window broke the quiet.
"You’ve been in a coma for three days and nights without eating much. I’ll go get you something to eat."
After a while, Alan Johnson spoke up and left to buy some light food.
As he reached the door of the hospital room, he noticed the porridge on the bench.
Alan Johnson glanced around the hospital corridor but didn’t see any familiar faces.
He thought it must have been left there by someone who would come back soon to fetch it.
Without further thought, he went to the hospital cafeteria to buy food.
Chloe Simpson had just woken up and suffered such severe injuries.
She had been in a coma for three days and nights. The doctor mentioned she’d only be able to eat easily digestible, light food for the week.
Alan Johnson didn’t know what Chloe liked to eat or what flavors she preferred.
In her current state, Chloe couldn’t speak.
He went to the hospital cafeteria and bought a serving of millet porridge, instructing them to make it into rice oil.
He also bought fish soup, filtered orange juice without pulp, and a light, oily-free vegetable soup.
In the hospital room, Chloe Simpson couldn’t process all that Alan Johnson had said even after his return.
"I don’t know what you like to eat, so I bought a little of everything. Since you’ve just woken up, the doctor advised only easily digestible, light food. I bought millet porridge and made it into rice oil, plus fish soup and vegetable soup from the hospital."
Alan Johnson unpacked the food he had bought, placing each item on the table.
"You..."
Chloe Simpson hesitated, murmuring slightly.
She truly hadn’t expected Alan Johnson to care for her so meticulously.
"Although the food in the hospital isn’t as tasty, it’s clean. You’ve just woken up, and it wouldn’t be good to have no one around to care for you. I didn’t dare go far."
"Soy milk and milk aren’t suitable because you’re lying still and not moving around, consuming them might cause bloating. Settling for these first, then in a few days..."
Seeing Chloe about to speak, Alan Johnson assumed she wanted something else to eat and carefully advised again.
"... Alright."
Chloe Simpson’s eyes unexpectedly reddened, she nodded unconsciously while staring intently at the food on the table.
Since Mom passed away, it’s been quite a while since anyone cared for her this much.
For the next half month.
Alan Johnson truly stayed in the hospital every day, taking care of her.
Meticulously attentive, thoughtfully considerate.
He fed her meals while holding the tray.
He made sure the water temperature was right before she drank it.
Once she could eat meals, he bought an array of dishes, worried she might lose her appetite.
Almost to the point of carrying her to the restroom, like taking care of a child.
"Mr. Johnson, you really don’t have to do this. Even if my mom saved your mom’s life, that was in the past generations. I..."
Thinking about the plan the mysterious man wanted her to execute, Chloe suddenly felt overwhelmed with guilt.
"Chloe, consider this as my last way to remember my mom," Alan Johnson paused in his actions.
"..."
Chloe Simpson said no more, continuing to eat the food he fed her.
After just one bite, Chloe suddenly remembered something.
The mysterious man hasn’t contacted her, called, or messaged for the past half a month.
It was quite strange.
Though she and that mysterious man haven’t spent long together, from what she understands, even if she were seriously ill or near death, he wouldn’t go a full half month without any contact.
Unless, in the past half month, he...
With that thought, Chloe felt her heart tighten and immediately looked up at Alan Johnson.
A terrifying answer was brewing in her heart.
