My Desire System: The More They Want Me, The Stronger I Get
Chapter 51: The Mountain Peak
Tempest landed with silent grace on the stone landing pavilion of the mountain chalet, its silver wings folding against its back.
The secluded alpine estate sat eight thousand feet above sea level in District 7, surrounded by snow-draped pine forests and clean mountain air.
Far below in the distant southern valley, the neon skyline of District 1 looked like a cluster of fiery embers against the dark horizon.
Leo dismounted onto the decking, turning to catch Bekka as she slid down from the raptor’s shoulders.
Her warm hands rested firmly against his chest for a lingering moment before she stepped back, her face flushed with heat from the supersonic flight.
"Good bird," Bekka murmured softly, stroking Tempest’s neck feathers before the raptor leaped up to its perch on the chalet’s observation tower.
The double doors of the chalet swung open, revealing the warm glow of a roaring hearth inside the spacious great room.
Luna rushed eagerly out onto the deck with a fleece blanket in her arms, wrapping it around Leo’s broad shoulders before throwing her arms around his neck.
"I saw the news alerts about District 1," Luna whispered with tearful relief, kissing his cheek and jaw.
"They said the sub-levels collapsed in an explosion, I was so worried about you."
"We’re both in one piece without a scratch," Leo assured her gently, wrapping an arm around her slender waist.
"Apex Bio-Tech’s main research lab is gone for good."
Luna smiled radiantly with adoration, taking his hand and gently leading him into the cozy warmth of the living room.
From the rug before the fireplace, Kage lifted his massive shadow head, letting out a low rumble before resting his dark chin back on his paws.
Sierra sat at the long dining table with a cup of vintage wine, her holographic monitors displaying cascading lines of decrypted financial records.
"Forty million in bearer bonds verified and parked behind three offshore shells," Sierra announced with a triumphant smirk.
"Your agreed cut cleared after the yacht. The rest stays under my control while I wash it slowly enough to keep every financial hunter in District 2 off our trail."
She expanded a second display showing the five-million-credit contract multiplying across mercenary boards in neighboring districts.
Three hunter guilds had already accepted the search, while the Hero Association had circulated Bekka’s revoked registry image beside the Ghost’s bounty notice.
"Gruber can’t hide the laboratory anymore, so he’s changing the story," Sierra said, tapping the linked headlines.
"By sunrise, he’ll claim a rogue meta destroyed a lawful medical facility, abducted a former hero, and stole a strategic energy source."
Bekka’s jaw tightened as her own face appeared beneath the word accomplice.
"Then we keep the original files alive long enough for the city to see what he buried under that tower."
"Plus the entire unredacted Apex genetic research archive has gone viral on every major public news outlet in the city."
"The Apex executive board and Chairman Gruber are holding emergency meetings right now," she added, raising her cup in a toast.
"To the biggest victory this city has ever seen."
"To our freedom and the end of corporate chains," Bekka agreed passionately, pouring herself a drink from the decanter on the bar.
Luna brought out steaming bowls of roasted stew and bread, setting the table with domestic warmth and quiet joy.
The savory aroma of slow-cooked herbs filled the room, chasing away the chill of the mountain air.
They ate together in the comforting glow of the fireplace, the tense adrenaline of the past three days finally dissolving into satisfaction.
Luna sat close to Leo, leaning her head against his shoulder while Sierra pointed out the latest market collapses on her tablet.
"Apex stock dropped forty percent in thirty minutes," Sierra laughed, leaning back against the chair.
"The Board of Directors is calling for Gruber’s resignation, but he is too busy offering five million credits to find our ghost."
"Let them search every corner of the city," Leo said with a quiet smile, sipping his dark vintage wine.
"They won’t find anything until we’re ready to strike again."
"We have them on the defensive across every district," Bekka added, looking at the glowing map of the city.
"For the first time in years, the corporate cartels are the ones running scared."
After dinner, Sierra returned to her terminal to monitor corporate communications, while Luna curled up on the sofa beside Kage, drifting into sleep.
Bekka set her empty cup down and walked over to Leo, tapping his arm with a quiet look.
"Come outside with me for a minute," she whispered softly.
"The night air is crisp and clear on the private terrace."
Leo followed her through the sliding doors onto the secluded balcony overlooking the snowy valley.
The midnight sky was vast and clear at this high altitude, dusted with millions of silver stars.
A mountain breeze blew through the tall alpine pines, but thermal heating conduits embedded in the deck kept the balcony warm.
Bekka leaned her athletic forearms against the smooth railing, gazing out at the snow-capped peaks with thoughtful eyes.
"Four years ago, when I joined Horizon, I thought I was going to protect people," she said softly, her voice carrying emotional weight.
"I thought if I worked hard and followed the rules, the system would make a difference."
She turned around, leaning her back against the railing as she looked into his eyes.
"Instead, they turned me into a PR asset," she continued, taking a step toward him.
"They wanted me to smile for cameras while executives traded human lives for stock value."
"I spent years fighting on their terms, swallowing my pride and pretending I was making the city safer," she added, her voice dropping lower.
"Until you showed up and tore down their illusions with a single strike."
"You changed everything, Leo."
"You broke my chains when everyone else wanted to exploit me, you forged these alien gauntlets for me, and you gave me back my true warrior purpose."
She closed the remaining distance between them, stopping inches away until the heat radiating from her frame brushed against his chest.
Her heart pounded rapidly beneath her dark tactical vest, her breath catching in her throat as she looked up at his lips.
"I’ve spent days telling myself that we’re just comrades in a war," she whispered in a husky tone.
"That we’re just two rogues fighting the same corporate empire."
"But when you pinned me on that training mat and held me on the back of that bird, I couldn’t lie to myself anymore."
"I felt the possessive way your hands held my body, and I felt the electricity surging between us like a lightning strike."
Bekka reached up with trembling fingers, grasping the front zipper of her tactical vest.
"I don’t want to just be your comrade in the field, Leo," she murmured, her voice thick with desire.
"I want you, Leo, more than I’ve ever wanted anyone in my life."
With a slow motion, she pulled the zipper down, letting the dark tactical vest slide off her shoulders and fall to the deck.
Underneath, her sports top clung smoothly to her athletic curves, outlining the proud swell of her breasts and her toned stomach.
She looked up at him under the starlight, her cheeks flushed with heat and her body trembling with sweet surrender.
"Take me, Leo," she whispered breathlessly into the midnight air.
"Make me yours completely under the stars tonight."
