The glare of forty camera drones locked onto the central rail platform as Gild raised his twin golden gauntlets.

Solar ether flared along the armor channels, emitting a high-pitched whine that drowned out the sound of the falling rain.

"Let us see your shadow tricks survive the heat of a miniature sun!" Gild roared, firing twin laser beams at Leo’s chest.

The concentrated beams of golden energy tore through the mist at lightspeed, superheating the air into a vacuum tunnel.

Leo did not retreat or duck into the shadows.

He raised his weapon with both hands, meeting the solar beams with the flat of the Phase-Edge blade.

The All-Spark core in his chest pulsed with hunger as Kinetic and Energy Absorption kicked into immediate gear.

Instead of vaporizing his torso, seventy percent of the solar output was siphoned into the dark blade, converting the golden light into crackling violet ether.

The remaining energy deflected off the spatial seam, carving two smoking trenches through the empty freight cars behind him.

"What is this?!" Gild choked over the open broadcast audio, his visor display flickering with catastrophic energy warnings.

"He is drinking a Class-A solar discharge with a raw sword blade!"

"My turn," Leo whispered, his voice carrying over the live microphone grid.

With a sharp flick of his wrists, Leo unleashed the absorbed solar energy in a sweeping crescent wave of violet lightning.

The concussive shockwave ripped across the platform, shattering the floodlights and forcing Gild to stumble three steps backward.

Behind the security barricades, eight automated Olympus defense droids raised their sub-machine guns to flank Leo’s position.

"Neutralize the vigilante!" the security commander shouted through his headset.

"Crossfire pattern alpha, do not let him leave that platform alive!"

Before their targeting optics could lock onto his jacket, Kage launched from the platform shadows like a dark missile.

The twelve-foot void panther pounced onto the lead droid, crushing the torso under its massive paws with a sickening crunch.

Kage’s tail whipped through the air like a spiked chain, decapitating two drones simultaneously before dissolving back into the darkness.

The remaining droids panicked, firing blind volleys into empty shadows while the void beast materialized behind them, executing silent neck-snaps and ripping power batteries from their chassis.

The sound of shattering components and short-circuiting electronics echoed across the freight yard as Kage tore through the automated squad in seconds.

"Shoot the beast!" the broadcast director screamed in the production van, slamming his headset against the console.

"Cut the feed, cut the satellite feed right now!"

"Too late, director," Bekka muttered from the barricade, her gaze locked onto the platform as a fierce smile broke across her lips.

"The entire city is watching your golden poster boy get dismantled."

Beside her, Cole let out a booming chuckle, crossing his arms over his chest as the dockworkers began cheering from the fence lines.

"Looks like the corporate sponsors picked the wrong playground tonight," Cole said with quiet satisfaction.

"Every laborer in District 9 is watching an honest vigilante put a billionaire’s puppet in his place."

Out on the tracks, Gild activated his suit’s emergency overdrive, a glowing hexagonal hard-light barrier enveloping his golden frame.

"My kinetic barrier can withstand five hundred tons of artillery fire!" Gild shouted desperately, his voice cracking with panic.

"You cannot touch me through this shield, you filthy slum gutter rat!"

"Your shield stops physical mass," Leo answered coldly, lowering his center of gravity into a low-stance Iaido draw.

"It does not stop space."

Leo took half a step forward, his soles gliding across the wet platform in a breathless blur of speed.

He drew the Null Razor in one continuous, seamless crescent motion.

The Phase-Edge trait activated instantly: the dark blade flickered out of physical space, passing through the five-hundred-ton hard-light barrier as if it were warm mist.

The spatial edge sheared cleanly through Gild’s right gauntlet and shoulder actuator, severing the solar power conduit in a spray of sparks.

The golden arm assembly fell to the platform floor with a dull sound, dead and smoking.

Gild shrieked in terror, clutching his severed shoulder housing as the hard-light barrier collapsed into harmless light particles.

"My arm! My fifty-million-credit power rig!" Gild wailed, stumbling backward against a rusted locomotive buffer.

"You are a monster, you are an unregistered freak!"

"You came to District 9 looking for a show," Leo replied, stepping forward with measured, unhurried cadence.

"Now you are getting the finale."

Leo closed the distance without making a sound, his left hand snapping forward in a fast Viper-Weave wrist check.

He pinned Gild’s remaining arm against the train car, driving an open Void-Pulse palm strike into the center of the golden breastplate.

Concentrated shadow ether punched straight through the alloy, detonating the suit’s internal battery bank from the inside out.

The golden chest plate shattered into fragments, exposing Gild’s expensive silk undershirt and his pale, sweating chest.

Leo grabbed the corporate hero by the collar, slamming him against the train car and tearing the broadcasting comm-link off his helmet.

He held the microphone in front of Gild’s trembling lips.

"Tell the upper districts why you came to District 9 tonight," Leo commanded, his voice cold enough to freeze the falling rain.

"Please... do not kill me!" Gild sobbed hysterically into the live microphone, tears and fluids streaming down his unmasked face.

"Olympus Corporation promised me a five-million-credit sponsor bonus if I staged an arrest on camera! I did not want to fight a real monster, I just wanted the brand deal!"

The confession echoed across millions of television screens and holographic displays in District 1, instantly crashing Olympus Corporation’s stock value by forty percent.

Across the district line, corporate boardrooms descended into chaos as sponsorship contracts were cancelled by the dozens.

Leo released his grip, letting the disgraced A-Rank celebrity slide into a pathetic heap on the wet platform floor.

Kage trotted over from the destroyed drone wreckage, resting its massive chin beside Leo’s hip with a satisfied rumble.

Leo reached down and scratched the beast behind its armored ears, feeling the creature’s dark ether hum with contented pride.

He sheathed his weapon with a clean click, looking past the blinding camera drones toward the police barricades.

Through the rain and flashing emergency lights, his eyes met Bekka’s across the platform.

She stood straight amidst the chaotic crowd of reporters, looking at him with wide respect that erased every ounce of her previous cynicism.

The golden boy of District 1 was broken on the ground, and for the first time in her career, she knew who the real hero was.

Leo offered her a subtle nod before melting backward into the shadow of the locomotive, vanishing alongside Kage into the stormy night.
