My Desire System: The More They Want Me, The Stronger I Get
Chapter 112: Laser Corridors Close
The corridor ahead widened into a vast octagonal chamber spanning forty paces across polished obsidian tiles.
Before the team could cross the threshold, an ear-splitting electronic siren sounded from hidden ceiling grilles.
Hissing emitter nodes snapped open along the walls, projecting an intricate lattice of crisscrossing crimson laser beams.
The crimson light did not merely burn with heat, it hummed with concentrated hard-light spatial distortion fields.
"Do not attempt to Shadow-Walk across this chamber!" Bekka shouted, grabbing Leo’s shoulder before he could initiate a phase shift.
"The field is designed to refract spatial particles and shred anyone caught between dimensions," Sierra warned, her shadow threads dissolving into ash the instant they neared the beams.
"It is an anti-assassin corridor designed specifically to counter spatial slipstreams," Kage observed, tossing a steel washer into the grid.
The washer touched a single scarlet beam and disintegrated into vaporized sparks within a fraction of a millisecond.
"If we cannot phase through the light, we have to extinguish the emitters," Leo said, studying the layout of the hexagonal projectors.
"The emitters are shielded behind three layers of reinforced ballistic glass," Sierra pointed out, squinting through the glare.
"Glass does not stop atmospheric pressure," Bekka said, stepping directly in front of Leo with her wind-saber held high.
"What is your plan, Officer?" Leo asked, watching the fierce emerald light swirling around her blade.
"I am going to compress a vortex of atmospheric gale between the focal lenses to refract their beam trajectories," Bekka explained.
"Can your meridians sustain that much rotational torque against hard-light resistance?" Leo inquired, checking her posture.
"Not alone," Bekka admitted, turning her head to offer him a daring, breathless smile.
"Then take my desire aura and channel it directly into your blade," Leo said, placing his palm firmly between her shoulder blades.
"Are you certain your core can handle the resonance link without burning out?" Bekka asked, feeling the immediate heat radiating from his hand.
"My core grows stronger with every bond we forge in the heat of battle," Leo answered with resolute certainty.
A brilliant cascade of golden energy surged from Leo’s core into Bekka’s spiritual pathways, supercharging her wind aura tenfold.
Bekka gasped as the overwhelming vitality flooded her senses, turning her emerald gale into a howling hurricane of jade and gold.
"Gale Art: Void Dispersion Tempest!" Bekka roared, swinging her saber in a magnificent full-circle arc.
A blinding cyclone of compressed wind erupted from her blade, crashing into the center of the octagonal chamber like a thunderbolt.
The violent atmospheric pressure distorted the air density within the room, bending the scarlet laser beams away from their focal pathways.
Refracted light struck the ceiling and floor in chaotic explosions of sparks and shattered tiles.
"Now, Leo! Hit the central distribution conduit!" Bekka yelled, straining every muscle in her body to hold the hurricane steady.
Leo leaped through the refracted gap in the laser lattice, moving with terrifying physical speed without needing spatial stepping.
He closed the thirty paces in a heartbeat, lunging toward the glowing cylindrical conduit that powered the entire security grid.
Channeling the full kinetic weight of his Level 42 strength, Leo swung the Null Razor in a devastating horizontal cleave.
The weapon’s edge sheared through the high-density power conduit like a razor slicing through dry parchment.
A blinding flash of electric turquoise erupted from the severed cables, sending cascading electrical shocks across the walls.
One by one, the crimson laser emitters sputtered, smoked, and died, leaving the vast chamber bathed in emergency amber lights.
Bekka collapsed to her knees, panting heavily as the gale dissipated, her gauntlets venting superheated steam as she rested her knuckles on the stone floor.
Leo was at her side instantly, sliding his arm around her waist to support her weight before she could strike the tiles.
"That was the most magnificent gale technique I have ever witnessed," Leo said, his voice filled with sincere admiration.
"I could feel your entire soul backing my strike," Bekka whispered, leaning her head against his shoulder with a breathless laugh.
"We make a rather terrifying vanguard when we pull in the same direction," Leo chuckled, gently smoothing her tousled bangs.
"Do not get cocky, renegade, we still have to smash their distribution tanks," Bekka teased, though she made no move to pull away from his embrace.

The golden light of the level advancement washed over both of them, refreshing Bekka’s exhausted meridians and filling Leo with boundless vigor.
"You leveled up again right in the middle of a raid?" Bekka asked in disbelief, staring at the golden aura shimmering around his frame.
"The system rewards purpose and unbroken unity," Leo replied, offering her a hand and pulling her effortlessly to her feet.
Sierra and Kage jogged across the disabled chamber, their expressions filled with deep respect for the coordinated assault.
"The storage vault is unlocked," Sierra reported, gesturing toward the heavy vault doors sliding open on the far side.
"There are over four hundred vials of refined life-serum inside, ready for shipment to the upper-ring clinics," Kage added.
"That is enough medicine to cure every poisoned child in District Seven three times over," Sierra said, her eyes shining with tears.
Leo helped Bekka adjust her sword belt, his golden eyes burning with relentless purpose.
"We do not destroy the serum," Leo decreed, looking at his companions.
"What do we do with it?" Bekka asked, wiping the sweat from her brow.
"We take every single vial back to Luna’s clinic in District Nine," Leo declared with absolute authority.
"The medicine that was stolen from the blood of the poor will be returned to heal the poor," Bekka agreed, her eyes shining with fierce pride.
"How do we transport four hundred pressurized vials without breaking the seals?" Sierra inquired, examining the fragile glass racks.
"Toby and his runners brought four padded cargo carts through the southern breach," Kage revealed, pointing back toward the tunnel.
"Load the transport sleds," Leo commanded, his voice echoing through the silent, defeated corporate facility.
"District Seven is not begging for scraps anymore," Sierra said with a triumphant grin.
"Tonight, we take back what is ours," Leo answered, leading the squad into the vault to reclaim the stolen future of their people.
They packed the vials into the runners’ padded crates under the soft hum of the dying backup generator.
Every vial packed was a life saved, a family preserved, and an arrogant corporate lie shattered into dust.
"We move before their reinforcement battalions arrive," Leo ordered, signaling for the convoy to retreat into the shadows.
"Will the automated defense logs implicate you directly, Bekka?" Leo asked, checking her collar where the Association insignia sat pinned.
"I unclipped my telemetry transponder before we entered the drainage tunnel," Bekka answered, tapping her empty lapel with a defiant grin.
"Then as far as the central records are concerned, you were conducting standard night patrols in the neutral zone," Leo noted, approving of her foresight.
"Let Albright try to prove otherwise while we rebuild the district from the inside out," Bekka said, her voice filled with quiet confidence.
"He will never understand why someone would trade a golden pension for dusty cobblestones," Sierra commented, adjusting the straps on the leading cart.
"Because gold cannot buy an easy conscience, Sierra," Bekka replied gently, falling into step beside her new companions.
"With pleasure, Commander," Bekka smiled, taking her place at his side as they stepped back into the freedom of the dark.
