The damp brick vault of the southern drainage tunnel smelled of ozone, stagnant groundwater, and stale industrial grease.

Leo moved at the vanguard of the squad, his boots making no sound against the slime-covered flagstones.

Directly behind him, Bekka kept her drawn wind-saber angled downward, its emerald edge glowing with faint, muffled luminescence.

"We have passed beneath the secondary administrative boundary line," Bekka whispered, checking the miniature compass on her gauntlet.

"The acoustic signatures from above are shifting from diesel engines to high-frequency mag-rail hums," Kage reported from the rear flank.

"That means we are directly beneath the commercial logistics plazas of District Six," Leo observed, pausing at a heavy rusted junction hatch.

"Toby’s map indicated a bypass lever behind this drainage valve," Sierra said, pointing her slender shadow-threads into the dark machinery.

"Make sure the bypass is not tied into the city’s municipal flood sensors," Bekka cautioned, scanning the surrounding masonry for fiber-optic lines.

"I already isolated the ground wires with my shadow filaments," Sierra replied, her eyes flashing with confident focus.

With a deft flick of her wrist, her shadow filament hooked the hidden release bar and tripped the ancient counterweight.

The iron hatch groaned softly before swinging inward, revealing a brightly illuminated maintenance corridor tiled in clean white porcelain.

"Look at the pristine condition of these service corridors," Bekka murmured, stepping through the portal with widened eyes.

"They do not even allow dust to settle on their sewage pipes in the upper districts," Sierra noted with dripping sarcasm.

"While District Nine chokes on coal ash, their utility tunnels are sanitized with sterile disinfectant," Kage remarked, sheathing one of his scouting blades.

"Keep your voices down and stay within my shadow veil," Leo instructed, stepping onto the polished linoleum floor.

A row of refrigerated transit containers stood parked along the eastern wall beneath automated hydraulic loading arms.

Each container bore the gilded caduceus crest of the Metropolitan Hero Medical Institute.

"The Hero Institute is the premier healthcare provider for ranked guild champions in the entire capital," Bekka noted, her voice trembling slightly.

"What are medical transport pods from the central heroic academies doing in an underground freight siding?" Leo asked, approaching the nearest pod.

"Look at the serial coding stamped across the cold-storage valves," Sierra urged, tracing the stenciled lettering with her gloved finger.

"V-Nine Life-Serum Concentrates," Bekka read aloud, her breath catching in her throat as cold dread gripped her heart.

"That is the exact chemical designation Luna extracted from the poisoned blood samples in Ward Four," Leo said, his golden eyes narrowing into razor slits.

"They are not dumping their illegal biotechnical waste into the outer slums," Bekka realized, horror dawning across her features.

"They are harvesting living cellular tissue from outer-district victims to refine longevity elixirs for upper-class heroes," Leo stated, the truth burning like acid in his veins.

"The legal clinics in District Six have been purchasing black-market cellular grafts under humanitarian emergency permits," Sierra added, pulling a data chip from the container console.

"All signed and countersigned by Director Albright’s procurement committee," Bekka said, reading the digital ledger displayed on the screen.

"So the entire heroic institution is lubricated by the slow murder of people who cannot afford a lawyer," Leo declared with terrifying calm.

"Every guild master who takes the field with enhanced regeneration is drinking the blood of District Nine’s children," Bekka said, her hands shaking with unvarnished rage.

"And they call us criminals for daring to defend our own breath," Sierra scoffed, her teeth clicking in disgust.

"How many shipments have passed through this junction over the past six months?" Leo asked, leaning closer to the glowing terminal.

"Over eighty metric crates of concentrated cellular extract," Sierra reported, scrolling rapidly through the encrypted manifests.

"That represents thousands of innocent people drained in clandestine laboratories across the outer rim," Bekka whispered, closing her eyes in sickening shame.

"The heroes of the capital have known about this supply chain for years," Sierra stated, pointing out the official requisition stamps.

"Not all of them knew, but the ones at the top certainly profited from it," Bekka corrected, her knuckles whitening around her hilt.

"Can you download the complete distribution ledger before the automated backup cycles?" Leo asked Sierra.

"I need two minutes to bypass the secondary cryptographic seal," Sierra replied, her fingers dancing across the terminal interface.

"Take whatever time you need, Sierra, we will hold the perimeter," Leo assured her, standing guard at the junction entrance.

"If this ledger reaches the public presses, the entire legitimacy of the Hero Association will collapse overnight," Bekka noted, staring at the flashing data stream.

"They will deploy every mercenary regiment in the province to silence us before dawn," Kage warned, listening intently to the ventilation grates.

"Let them try to silence an entire awakened city," Leo answered, his voice steady as carved obsidian.

Suddenly, an abrasive chime echoed from the ceiling speakers as crimson warning beacons began pulsing along the ceiling.

[Facility Alert: Unauthorized Data Access Detected in Bay Three.]

[Countermeasure Protocol Alpha Initiated.]

"They triggered a silent biometric tripwire inside the terminal frame," Sierra cursed, trying to force the final decryption sequence.

"How much of the manifest did you secure?" Leo demanded, drawing the Null Razor into his right hand.

"Eighty percent, including the recipient names of fourteen ranked guild commanders," Sierra answered, yanking the data drive from the port.

Heavy blast doors slammed shut at both ends of the porcelain corridor with the deafening boom of pneumatic locks.

"We are boxed in between two bulkheads of solid tungsten-steel," Kage warned, pressing his palm against the sealed exit.

"They are venting the atmosphere to suffocate us in the bay," Bekka shouted, hearing the hiss of depressurization vents along the ceiling.

"They built these walls to contain mortal thieves," Leo said, his desire aura swelling like a rising tide.

"Can you crack through four inches of reinforced corporate tungsten?" Bekka asked, looking at his blazing golden gaze.

"I do not need to crack the steel when the hinge pins are made of standard forged iron," Leo replied with a grim smirk.

He surged forward with blistering speed, driving the blade of the Null Razor directly into the mechanical hinge casing.

With a massive release of Level 42 kinetic force, Leo leveraged the entire six-ton blast door off its runners, tearing it away from the concrete frame.

The heavy plate crashed into the adjoining security corridor, sending a shockwave through the tiled floor.

"Move through the breach now!" Leo commanded, ushering Bekka, Sierra, and Kage into the secondary corridor.

"Where does this passage lead?" Bekka asked, running alongside him with drawn blade.

"Straight toward the central distribution hub where they store the remaining serum crates," Leo answered, his voice ringing with absolute certainty.

"Tonight, we cut the serpent’s head off at the neck," Bekka declared, her wind aura howling around her blade in fierce agreement.

"Stay close and maintain your defensive spacing," Leo ordered as automated klaxons howled ahead.

"They will not stop us while our people are waiting for this medicine," Sierra vowed, locking her data drive into her armored chest rig.

"What happens when the corporate board discovers that their supply line has been severed?" Sierra asked, securing the last cable tie on her satchel.

"They will panic and try to blame independent smugglers before the truth leaks to the press," Bekka answered with a grim smile.

"Let them spin their lies while we distribute the cure to every family who needs it," Leo said, his eyes scanning the corridor.

They charged down the gleaming corridor toward the heart of District Six’s greatest and darkest secret.
