Chapter 640: Who Gave You the Nerve
Chapter 640 -639: Who Gave You the Nerve
When Bai Shuihuang and her group arrived at the Phoenix Cave, they found it overrun with Celestial Yin Fire. The Immortal Fire that was here before had been completely extinguished. Even the Immortal Fire itself would have no choice but to retreat in the face of this endless Celestial Yin Fire.
With no one left to sustain it, the Immortal Fire could only be extinguished by the overwhelming Celestial Yin Fire.
Standing there, they could feel a terrifying power emanating from deep within the earth, a power so staggering it was growing stronger by the second. It felt as if it was about to break through to an even higher level at any moment.
“The Evil Spirit’s soul has been released! It looks like it’s still in the process of fusing. We still have a chance to stop it!” Sealing Heaven Ancestor, being the strongest among them, prepared to force his way down.
Although the cave was filled with Celestial Yin Fire, extinguishing it wasn’t particularly difficult for them. Besides, even if they let it burn their bodies, it wouldn’t cause them significant harm.
Their cultivation levels were high enough to withstand the Celestial Yin Fire. As powerhouses of the Phoenix Race, they possessed high-grade Phoenix Fire. Even though it was of a lower grade than the Celestial Yin Fire, it could still forcefully suppress it when empowered by their cultivation.
“Right, let’s go down at once! We can’t delay!” The other speaker was Fengyun Ancestor, the second strongest among them.
They exchanged a look, and the three of them immediately formed a triangular formation, plunging into the Phoenix Cave. Wherever they went, the Celestial Yin Fire was instantly suppressed.
As the Clan Leader, Bai Shuihuang followed right behind. She possessed the Immortal Fire and had no fear of the Celestial Yin Fire, so she charged in with them. They blasted away the encroaching Celestial Yin Fire, forcibly carving out a path so that the others could follow.
However, not many followed—only Bai Shuihuang and Elder Feng, who had previously been guarding the treasury. The other elders remained at the main gate; if everyone came in, the entrance would be left unguarded.
Besides, they were facing the Celestial Nether Saint King and an Evil Spirit. Those with lower cultivation levels would be of little help, so it was better for them to stand guard outside. If even the three ancestors couldn’t handle the situation, then the others certainly couldn’t.
As they flew rapidly downward, they saw a middle-aged man steadily absorbing a black mist that rose from the depths of the earth. With every wisp of mist he absorbed, the handsome man grew slightly stronger.
This was undoubtedly the Celestial Nether Saint King, the strongest powerhouse of the Celestial Nether Divine Kingdom and the mastermind behind everything.
His cultivation was already at the eighth layer of the Saint King Stage, and as he absorbed the mist, he grew steadily stronger. If this continued, he would likely break through to the Peak of Saint King, or perhaps even reach the Divine King Stage!
Upon reaching the Divine King Stage, one would be virtually unstoppable in the Three Realms. No one knew if any Divine Kings currently existed in the Three Realms; so far, none had ever been seen.
Perhaps they were in seclusion, or perhaps there truly were none. If no other Divine Kings existed, the Celestial Nether Saint King would be able to dominate the Three Realms once he broke through!
And if the Three Realms were to be dominated by the Evil Spirit Race, they would surely plunge into absolute darkness.
Upon closer inspection, they noticed a large hole off to the side! It was unclear when it had been dug. The entire area was covered in Divine Runes, so how could anyone have bypassed them to get in?
But the truth was right before their eyes. The Celestial Nether Saint King had taken advantage of their absence to secretly dig a tunnel. By the time they realized what was happening, it was too late. He had already broken through a section of the Divine Runes, allowing his sealed soul to begin returning to his body!
In truth, his soul was meant to be whole, and he was now in the process of reclaiming it. Once the fusion was complete, he would reach an even more terrifying realm. No wonder they launched an all-out assault; with such a powerful being leading the charge, the Phoenix Race was in danger of being utterly suppressed!
“Stop him!”
The three exchanged a look as Phoenix Fire erupted from their bodies, instantly fusing into a colossal fireball that hurtled toward him. The terrifying flame it was made of could devour even the Immortal Fire or the Celestial Yin Fire.
The violently churning Celestial Yin Fire in its path was swiftly devoured by the massive fireball and annihilated. It finally slammed into the Celestial Nether Saint King, erupting in a tremendous explosion of fire!
BOOM! ℴ
The deafening sound reverberated everywhere, shaking the entire Phoenix Cave as if it were about to collapse at any moment. The effect of a coordinated attack from three Saint King powerhouses was, of course, immense.
When the explosion faded, they saw that the Celestial Nether Saint King was completely unscathed, his body enveloped in a faint blue light. The light emanated from a crystal on his chest, which had projected a tough shield to block the three Saint Kings’ attack.
“A mid-grade Divine Artifact…” They gasped. They hadn’t expected the Celestial Nether Saint King to possess such a thing. Most Divine Artifacts were low-grade; mid-grade ones were incredibly rare, yet here one was.
This Divine Artifact was incredibly powerful, having withstood the combined attack of three great powerhouses without breaking.
“Just wait patiently. Your turn will come soon…” The Celestial Nether Saint King gave a sinister smile and refocused on absorbing his soul. ‘If this seal weren’t so tough, I would have extracted my soul all at once instead of drawing it out bit by bit.’
“Keep attacking!”
The three ancestors didn’t stop. Even a mid-grade Divine Artifact had its limits and could be broken. For now, their only option was to attack with everything they had!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
They immediately unleashed their full power, relentlessly pressing the assault. The Phoenix Cave was bombarded so intensely that the very ground seemed about to be overturned.
…
Meanwhile, outside, Ji Yang shattered the Flame Cage and entered. His arrival plunged the Phoenix Race into absolute peril. With so many Spirit King Stage experts in addition to him, how could the two remaining Phoenix Race Saint Kings possibly resist? They stood little chance.
Elder Luo and Elder Lei were encircled. Twelve powerhouses wielding the Celestial Yin Fire had them trapped, their goal being to capture every last member of the Phoenix Race.
They wouldn’t be killed outright. To Ji Yang, they were sources of precious Essence Blood and couldn’t be wasted. ‘Killing them all at once to harvest their Essence Blood would be inefficient,’ he thought. ‘It’s far better to capture them and extract it slowly. That way, I’ll have a continuous supply.’
“Stop your pointless struggling and let yourselves be captured!” Ji Yang sneered, gesturing with his hand. “Go! Capture all the Phoenix Race children for me. They’re far more precious than these old-timers!”
“You dare!” Elder Luo roared, instantly burning his Essence Blood. The thought of his granddaughter, Luo Yan, flashed through his mind. To prevent her from being captured, he ignited his Essence Blood, preparing to fight to the death.
“A mere insect dares to act so presumptuously? Scram!” Ji Yang’s figure blurred. With a flick of his hand, he slapped out. WHAP! A deep palm print appeared on Elder Luo’s chest.
“Urgh…” Elder Luo grunted as he was sent flying backward. He skidded a long distance before managing to stop, his chest caved in and grievously wounded.
Ji Yang hadn’t killed him. He was definitely worth more alive.
“Grandpa!” A graceful figure flew over—it was a girl of about fifteen or sixteen.
She flew to his side and helped him up, asking worriedly, “Grandpa, are you okay? I’ll get you out of here!”
“Why did you come out?!” Elder Luo was horrified. They had been well hidden, but she had revealed herself.
“But I was worried about you, Grandpa…” The girl was none other than Luo Yan.
In the six months or so since he had last seen her, she had blossomed into a young woman. It was almost unbelievable. Clearly, some of her memories had returned, and she understood much more now.
“Thinking of leaving? It’s too late for that,” Ji Yang licked his lips, a wicked grin spreading across his face. “You look quite delicious. I wonder how you taste?”
Luo Yan’s face went pale, but she held onto Elder Luo and quickly retreated. How, though, could their speed possibly match Ji Yang’s?
SWISH!
Suddenly, a streak of bright light shot out, slashing toward his outstretched hand. Ji Yang was forced to swat it away, dissipating the attack.
“Who gave you the audacity to touch my daughter?” a familiar voice called out from the direction of the Space-Time Gate.
