Chapter 237

“I told you I will win… didn’t I?”

Liyu asked with a small, innocent smile blooming on his face. Shi Tian remained where he lay, saying nothing as his dimming dark eyes locked onto Liyu.

They seemed to be fading, as if he was going to give up the ghost at any moment.

“How did you…”

Blood filled his mouth, and only after he spat it out was he able to continue.

“…do that?”

Liyu rubbed his head.

“Well, let’s just say I have a lot of allies.”

He paused.

“Nah, that is wrong. Rather, the truth is that I have some helpful reflections of mine, and you are all alone. So you lose.”

Shi Tian listened to Liyu’s babble and weakly shook his head.

“I understand. There is no reason for you to tell someone who proved to be weaker than you your secret.”

Shi Tian looked away from him and toward the fading night. It seemed that sometime soon enough, the sun would start to rise.

Shi Tian remained silent for a while before turning back to Liyu and asking in a dimming voice. It seemed that his voice was leaving him as well.

“What are you waiting for? Kill me already.”

Liyu looked at him and nodded.

“Trust me, I will do that.”

Before I end you, though, do you have any last words?”

Shi Tian looked at him as if he were a fool and shook his head.

“Nothing. Just end it.”

Liyu nodded and raised his sword high.

“Wait, please!”

The voice of Shi Gubing cut through the air as he stood from his seat.

“Please spare him,” he begged.

Liyu paused for a moment and turned his gaze toward Shi Gubing. With his smile still on his face, he asked,

“And why the hell should I spare him?”

Shi Gubing’s face was pale. Shi Tian was his only son, and no matter what, he couldn’t just let him die like this.

He gritted his teeth and turned to face Liyu before speaking in a strong voice.

“I will compensate you for his life.”

His voice trembled slightly.

“So please spare him.”

Liyu paused for a brief second and then shook his head. He raised the Void Piercer high above him and brought it down with full force.

The sword came crashing down right before Shi Tian’s head. Then Liyu stopped.

The sword was only inches away from him.

Liyu paused and then turned to face Shi Gubing once more.

“Okay, then.”

Shi Gubing, whose face was pale, blinked once…

Then twice.

He turned to look at Liyu.

“Wait, what?”

He had believed that Liyu would most certainly kill his son no matter how much he was offered to spare him.

Liyu retracted his sword and looked at Shi Gubing before speaking.

“I will spare him. But as your son and the Shi heir, the offer to spare his life would have to be as massive as his value.”

Liyu’s grin became wider.

“So let’s do it this way. You would have to offer ten things from the Shi Clan treasury, and I would personally select whatever ten things I wanted from your treasury. Nothing else.”

Shi Gubing’s face turned pale. Most of the top artifacts, treasures, and legacies of the Shi Clan were at the main treasury.

Even he, as the Clan Lord, couldn’t just take things from there whenever he liked. And now Liyu was saying that…

“What is your decision?”

Shi Gubing paused and raised two fingers.

“I would give you two.”

Liyu’s eyes twitched.

“Is your son’s life worth that much?”

He raised his sword and placed it right against Shi Tian’s neck.

“Make your decision now. I have no time to waste.”

Shi Gubing’s face turned even paler as he raised three fingers.

“No…”

“Five.”

“I said now.”

“What about seven?”

His voice trembled.

“That is the most I can offer.”

Liyu looked at the seven fingers Shi Gubing had raised, his body trembling.

“No.”

He shook his head.

“If that is all your son is worth, then I guess I should just end his life right here.”

Liyu said that as he prepared to slice Shi Tian’s head right off.

But before his swing could hit its mark, Shi Gubing shouted.

“Okay! I agree! Ten it is, then!”

A small smile appeared on Liyu’s face. Then he nodded.

“You see? Nothing too special about it.”

Liyu turned to face Shi Tian with a calm, small smile on his face.

“Your dad seems to care about you a lot…”

Shi Tian’s face was not that of someone who was happy that he had been saved. Instead, it was filled with anger.

“Kill me.”

“Kill me now!”

Shi Tian shouted. But Liyu didn’t do as he said.

Instead, he only shook his head.

“No. Can’t do.”

He smiled.

“You see, he already bought it.”

Liyu said as he moved his sword away from Shi Tian’s neck. Shi Tian’s dimming gaze was filled with venom as he looked at Liyu.

“If you don’t kill me now… I promise you…”

His voice was weak, but the hatred within it was unmistakable.

“I would be the one that will kill you one day.”

Liyu looked at him with pity as he shook his head.

“You wouldn’t be stupid enough to come against me once more.”

He paused.

“And if you’re unlucky enough to be my enemy in the future, you would only wish you had died by my hands now.”

Liyu wasn’t joking.

After this battle, Shi Tian’s power would drop sharply. After all, the Twin Venom’s side effect had already begun to take its toll, and the sacrifice for his last power-up was him losing five Qi Beads.

Which meant he had only five left.

That meant that from the peak of Qi Refining, Shi Tian was now no more than an ordinary Stage Five Qi Refining cultivator. It would take a while before he could recover from that.

And while he was busy recovering, Liyu would already be far above him. After all, his growth was just about to become far higher…

And far more illogical than before.

So yes…

Shi Tian was no longer a threat.

If he came for him in the future, Liyu would simply end his life. For now, trading his life to get himself several useful and worthy things was the better bargain.

With that done, Liyu left his side. Shi Tian, consumed by his anger, lost consciousness.

His life was fading as well.

Shi Gubing dropped down and carried his son to the infirmary. Elder Ting also appeared and started to save the kid’s life.

Even though he was at the very edge of death, with an expert like Elder Ting, he would survive.

Liyu was the last one standing. He walked to the center of the ruined stage and smiled.

I won.

At the same time, the referee appeared beside him, carrying the five Golden Tokens in a small box. He appeared right beside Liyu and looked at the pale-faced kid.

He seemed to be totally exhausted.

The referee didn’t linger on anything and immediately moved to the announcement.

“Alright, folks! The final match has ended, and the winner of the match is none other than the Honored One, Liyu!”

The crowd erupted into deep, rumbling cheers.

And then, after they quieted down, the referee continued.

“Based on everything we have seen and witnessed so far, I believe that no one is more worthy to be the sole winner of the Tournament of the Three Great Clans than the Honored One… Liyu himself!”

“He has overcome all obstacles and has won the tournament!”

“Now, as a reward, all five Golden Tokens will be handed over to him.”

The referee said that and gave Liyu the box.

“He won!”

The referee declared.

“Yes! The Honored One won!”

The crowd erupted in cheers. Some were crying tears of joy, others were dancing, and many more were celebrating.

Seeing how the crowd was celebrating him, Liyu smiled and waved at them.

Internally, he was happy.

More than happy, even.

System, I won.

The system remained silent for a while. Then, after some time, the system finally spoke.

[Host, congrat…]

Liyu nodded.

If his three clones were not hibernating right at this moment, Liyu would have given the three of them his sincere thanks as well. Without them, there was no way he would have been able to pull it off.

Liyu turned toward the side where footsteps were rapidly approaching. Looking up, he saw Li Yuexin and the Anomaly Brother rushing forward.

Yuexin was the first to appear and immediately pulled him into a tight hug.

“Brother Yu… you did it!”

Liyu smiled and nodded.

“We won.”

Yuexin smiled.

Li San appeared right beside Liyu and patted his head.

“Well done, kid. You did splendidly.”

Liyu smiled and handed the box over to his uncle. Liyu grinned brightly, seeing that everything had worked out in the end.

He turned toward the sky.

The sun was rising. Its warm glow reflected in his eyes as Liyu smiled.

All the energy he had been forcing himself to use to remain awake finally faded. He was more than tired, after all.

With the sun rising, Liyu’s consciousness started to fade as he fell forward.

But before he could fall…

He fell into the back of someone.

Smelling the familiar fragrance, Liyu saw the long dark hair and was shocked.

Feng…

Li Feng turned to look at him with a small, pained smile on his face.

Then he spoke.

“Thank you, cousin.”

“You did well.”

“You won.”

Liyu nodded.

“We won.”

With that…

His consciousness faded.

And he fainted.
